Production company VAP opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Katsuhisa Minami's The Fable manga on Monday. The website also revealed the main staff and a teaser visual (pictured).

Staff
Director: Ryousuke Takahashi (Gasaraki, Hi no Tori)
Series Composition: Yuuya Takashima
Script: Yuuya Takashima, Mayumi Morita (Kanojo mo Kanojo, Young Black Jack)
Character Design: Kyuuma Ooshita (Top Secret: The Revelation, Rocket Girls), Saki Hasegawa (Ao Ashi, Shin Chuuka Ichiban!), Junichi Hayama (Pet, JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken)
Studio: Tezuka Productions

Minami began serializing the action comedy manga in Weekly Young Magazine from November 2014 to November 2019. A manga sequel began in July 2021 in the same magazine. Kodansha shipped the sequel's seventh volume on May 8, with the eighth volume scheduled to go on sale on August 4. The Fable has a cumulative of over 22 million copies in circulation.

Kodansha USA licensed the first manga series in English in March 2022 and released the 15th volume on June 13. The 16th volume will ship on July 11.

The Fable won at the 41st Kodansha Manga Awards in the General category in 2017. The manga was also placed twice in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings in the Male Readers' Top 20 in the 2019 and 2020's editions.

Synopsis
Fable is a legendary hitman who has completed numerous jobs for a variety of clients. After concluding his latest assignment, the number of people he has recently killed becomes too high, and Fable is ordered by his boss to lay low for a year. He is suggested that having to adapt to life as an ordinary citizen might prove a valuable experience for his future work.

Fable is to be accompanied by the woman who acts as his driver, and the two will assume new identities as siblings. However, their boss warns them that they will both face a deadly punishment if Fable kills anyone during his time off. Thus begins Akira and Youko Satou's joint one-year sabbatical from the underworld. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Perhaps Kodansha will finally release the manga in print. (I don’t like paying for digital and their new app with the points and coupons is too annoying for words!)

Junichi Hayama already get fired btw. what a great start.

Oh my God, it is pretty sad. I hope that they hire a good character designer. Still I like his designs in Pet and JoJo!

I can't say I'm familiar with the studio's or the director's recent works, but I'm just glad one of my favorite series this year is getting more attention. I have hard time imagining anyone screwing this up, since it's fairly grounded slice of life and real action is really rare.

Yeah I agree, studio is a little bit fishy

Yeah—no, there's not a single reason for me to believe this adaptation will do the manga justice. Not with that studio and staff.

I started reading the manga a long time ago but didn't read much for reasons I can't explain, I remember it positively, I'm looking forward to the anime.

People complaining about Tezuka productions when the main problem is the director

^ This pretty much

Ryousuke Takahashi been a good director in the past but the limitations with said studio will probably affect the show's quality.
At the minimum, with him on board, it can't be worst than My Home Hero. its something guess.

But it is very good series, you are wrong. Simply the quantity of episodes, that is all.

Tezuka Productions is ready to ruin another critically acclaimed seinen manga. My expectation for this anime adaptation is almost zero.

Oh wow, Takahashi directing this is actually huge. Despite TezukaPro this might actually turn out good.
