Lol.

Anyways, it was pretty cool today at the comic book stores. One of them had some cool Ironman posters so I grabbed a few (some for friends). They only really had that one tiny Shounen Jump thing in terms of manga stuff though.

Meh, I'm disappointed now :(
I went to my LCS today to see if they had the stuff for FCBD in yet, or if they knew what they'd be getting, as I was planning to get my nan to pop in there during her saturday shopping as I'm away (or well, I was hoping I might get them to give it to me early, but sending in my nan was the next option :P).

They told me they got sent their stuff early, and gave it all away last saturday instead, and that they had nothing left.
When I said 'But free comic book day is meant to be in may, so how was I meant to know you'd changed it?' they proclaimed they'd put signs up and everything... but hadn't thought to put it on their website which I might actually have seen it on :(

So, no freebies for me :(

Just bumping this as it gets closer. I've added some links to previews of some of the books in my first post, plus a commercial for FCBD 2008.

Meh, the comic store here rarely gets any of the free comic book day stuff except the Marvel/DC/DarkHorse title :(

Actually I just realised. First Saturday in May is when I'll be at Collectormania. Thats a big(ish) event, theres a chance some of the vendors there might have a wider selection I guess :D

While I can understand not being a fan of American comics, some of them are really good and worth a shot. Watchmen, Bone, Sandman, Fables, and many others are really good reads.

QFT. Don't forget my personal favorite: Transmetropolitan. Warren Ellis for the goddamn win. :D

Very true, Warren Ellis is my favorite comic book author, though I have to admit my favorite series from him was Next Wave (total crack). Though Transmetropolitan was very awesome and probably has one of my favorite endings ever. Planetary is also a very awesome series.

As a plug for my favorite author here is a current series he is doing as a web comic:

A lot of his work (the non-marvel) stuff it's very different from what one may think a typical comic book is like. Very worth checking out.

I don't really care about the value of the comics I read. I care much more about the contents. And I'm pretty happy to see that DC has chosen All Star Superman as its free book. It's really AWESOME stuff, maybe the best Superman comic in years (and believe me, I've read A LOT of Superman books, and most of them are just TERRIBLE), and a great way to show some of their most accesible stuff to a lot of people. Morrison and Quitely are one of the best creative teams in comicbooks right now.

So, erm, yeah, go and take one of those with your Shonen Jump Sampler! Oh, and the Hellboy/B.P.R.D. special is great stuff too, if you like horror and monsters and all that...

O____O MAXIMUM RIDE COMIC BOOK?!?

I never heard about this... then again, since it's a "superhero" kinda thing, it was bound to happen. Just like Artemis Fowl. >>

Free Comic Book Day is amazing. It's like this magical holiday where they give you free comic books, hehe=]. I went last year and got 11 free comic books. I hadn't ever read an american comic book before that time, or manga either for that matter.

hmm... more stuff to get besides the free comic book day issue of Sonic... ^^;

But I did post this as they are giving away manga related items and today most comic shops do carry manga.

I'm mostly interested in the Gegika preview. I'm really interested in these types of titles.

Also as for the All Star Superman #1, didn't the trade already devalue your comic? I hate to say it but floppies just don't value like they used to. Though I do like it when they do something new.
