10.2k Overlord
*6.8k To Love-Ru Darkness S2
*5.4k Charlotte
*3.0k Gakkou Gurashi!
*2.7k Fate/kaleid liner S3
*2.7k GANGSTA
*1.7k Junjou Romantica 3
*1.5k Gatchaman Crowds Insight.
*0.7k Woozer S3

Its like no one even cared about this season... Gakkou Gurashi was all over NND, yet no one cares about the bds. Same goes for Himouto, but only slightly better. Kinda don't like that.

Japanese fans are just like every other person in the developed world. We shouldn't go around stereotyping, because you sure as hell do not know every single Japanese fan. Of course there are some who are NEETs (not in Education, Employment or Training), but not all of them are. Some of them work hard to be able to afford such an expensive hobby, and to also cover other expenses such as utility bills, rent, etc. Who exactly has unlimited amounts of money to buy every single series they want in a particular season? Do you as a 15 year old?

Some people may argue that they cannot possibly be working citizens because they supposedly watch some of the anime that airs at late-night, at midnight and early morning... but have you guys considered that it's so easy to record the anime that you want automatically and watch it later? I find it hard to believe that these Japanese fans are so technologically illiterate to not even be able to do this.

Japan anime fanbase has very specific tastes.
Don't be confused - majority of sales do NOT happen from the casual anime fans like the western fanbase. Majority of sales are driven NEETs, so series and franchises that target NEETs more sell better than the ones who don't.

The Japanese anime fanbase cares a lot more about animation quality and direction then the Western fanbase does. And Rokka no Yuusha is an absolutely joke at that, just the countless rotate camera crap is enough to make most people not want to watch the series repeatedly.

Je ne pense pas..

Neets don't have enough money for that.

Nope.

I was talking about the people who buy the series, not even watch it. Forgetting the thing about NEETs, people wont buy every series they liked from the season. For most, having it recorded is probably enough.

Well it's probably more like that otaku living in their parent's basements could only afford one or two series a season. People may like rokka but not enough to invest in it.

Nice sales for Hibike. With the new special coming up I'm hoping they'll announce a season 2.

I hope that if Overlord does indeed sell about 10k, that will stop the fanboys from claiming that Madhouse's shows don't sell because the Japanese hate Madhouse.

The simple reality is (again despite my belief that nobody is going to listen) that it has nothing to do with the studio, they normally don't do seller type anime like Light Novel adaptations. When they do stuff like Mahouka, NGNL and Overlord it sells discs cause that's the audience that actually buys overpriced Blu-Ray shit, when they do stuff like Parasyte, Hunter x Hunter, Death Parade etc. it does not sell because it doesn't target the sort of audience that will pay that kind of money for a collectors vanity product. Satoshi Kon himself could rise from his grave and they could literally spend several billion yen getting him to direct the most elaborate non-LN adaptation of something ever and 95% chance even if it gets all the critical acclaim and awards in the world it's not going to sell more than a couple thousand copies in this day and age because it won't target the obsessive buyers market like a big budget LN adaptation would.

I don't know why it's so hard for people to connect the dots or just even think about it for a couple of seconds, but I'd hazard a guess that it's because they are too far up their own asses with their narratives (in this case Madhouse doesn't sell) and being loud brazen idiots to take notice. I mean fuck I don't really understand simple analysis and comprehension out of this fanbase anymore but come on, it's simple pattern recognition at this point.

LOL people keep acting surprise. I know Rokka would have a bad sell right after the moment I saw the studio and the producer (Passione and Pony Canyon)

And again I don't know why. It's literally like people don't pay any damn attention to market trends whatsoever and just expect everything to turn out the way they'd like it because they wish it. Just how old is the average user here in all honesty? I've often figured it's a largely 18-25 crowd, but lately I'm leaning more towards a 15 and under demographic because people just have that sort of mentality a lot of the time. The "ME" generation is fucking real.

Studio has nothing to do with it.

It sort of does, but it sort of doesn't, morseo on an advertising consideration and brand recognition side as opposed to a technical animation side which is often more important for sales anyway. You think if it were by A-1 Pictures instead it would have been a middling sleeper hit type affair that people had to discover over time through word of mouth with a simple small audience and 500-1000 range sales? Hell no they'd have been all over advertising it as the next big blockbuster thing months in advance like Asterisk and have people coming in all hyped up on a sugar rush and it'd be in about the same position as GATE is stalker prediction wise at the very least.

Well if you put it that way what's truly undeserved is having an edge simulator like Ubel Blatt in your favorites.

I think one of the issue with Ten Count becoming an anime is how sexual it is. Like the plot relies a lot on Shirotani's condition and Kurose trying to uh... fix it? And a lot of that is pretty lewd. I mean they could definitely tone it down a lot, but I think it'd be a little bit hard. I mean, not that I totally wouldn't love a Takarai Rihito anime adaptation. I'm actually kind of disappointed in Ten Count rn though, since it's relying a lot on dubcon and that makes me pretty uncomfortable.

Super Lovers is already getting an adaptation so I hope that they keep coming? Sort of related, but I also heard that Citrus (the yuri manga) was also getting an anime adaptation so like I hope these adaptations continue to grow that would be great.

I don't think sexual content is an issue. Love Stage!!, JR and Sekai have plenty of sexual content, so, they'd probably just tone it down. Yeah, little meh about how it's going currently, but the first couple volumes were pretty good, so that shouldn't be too bad.

Naahh, Citrus isn't getting an anime. The creator said they were hoping to get an anime adaption or something on twitter.

Ah that's too bad then... I really liked the manga so :/.

Love Stage!! and co of course have sexual content but it's not really integral to the story? I guess that's one way of putting it. Ten Count's sexual content actually (sometimes) provides depth to the characters. I guess they could tone it down quite a bit but I can't really see it in my head. If it gets an adaptation, I would be fine with it tho. I won't drop Ten Count or anything because I'm interested in seeing how the story pans out (and I also want Shirotani to be happy ;__; ) and also because Takarai Rihito but if this dubcon becomes worse then idk :/ I want to trust the author since her previous manga were really nice and had consensual stuff which is kind of rare in BL lmao. But anyways I went off in a tangent whoops
