"Shojo Beat", a Shojo manga magazine published in US, was announced to be discontinued this summer. The final issue will be released on June 19th. Shojo Beat was first issued in 2005 and currently publishes Honey and Clover and Vampire Knight.

According to VIZ Media, they decided to close Shojo Beat considering the current economic status and the limited amount of resources they have. Anime!Anime! reported that the sales of Shojo Beat per issue are a few ten thousands copies while US SHONEN JUMP magazine are sold 300,000 copies per issue.

VIZ Media continues to release the separate manga books (Tankobon) through Shojo Beat label.

I only started reading it a few months ago, since it's so hard to get here.... (I don't live in America or anything....)

I'm happy they will still realease the tankouban, although those will get more expensive in the near future.... >.<

I brought SB 2 years ago, and now this happened.

It's really sad to see it go.... T___T But at least they still got the GN under the SB label.

Aww. I discovered shoujo manga with this magazine. I even got the first issue. It's sad to see it go. Although it's a good thing tankobon are being released anyway.

I actually stopped getting Shoujo beat a few months ago. If i knew this was gonna happen, I would kept going to get the whole collection. Time to find some back issues I guess.

Also gonna add that I thought it was a stupid idea of them when they switched from black inked pages to that red and blue ones.

D'aww, that's a shame.
That thing was sorta weeaboo-y, though.

Aww that is a shame.. I always buy it together with Shonen Jump.. It was always fun every month to get it from the comic store and read it. Lovely manga (though I had some manga that went on too long (like Crimson Hero)).
Atleast I am happy to hear Shonen Jump still goes on.
