K-ON! occupies the Amazon Blu-ray ranking.
That's what you call domination, all? 7 releases occupy the top 10.

They finally realized that the limited editions sell much better, good for them.

Lol, that is pritty damn amazing indeed.

Comparison of the prices (all the volumes include three episodes)

Kurokami Blu-ray Limited Edition: 9,240 yen
Kurokami Blu-ray Normal Edition: 7,350 yen
Macross Frontier Blu-ray : 7,350 yen
To Aru Majutsu no Index Blu-ray Limited Edition: 7,875 yen

Releasing limited and normal editions both for DVD and Blu-ray just increases the cost. I think K-ON! style marketing (limited edition on Blu-ray and normal edition on DVD) is the most efficient. And Kurokami staff somehow learned it before losing a lot of money.

An example of the most successful case:
K-ON! Blu-ray vol.1: 5th (7,980 yen for two episodes)
K-ON! DVD vol.1: 268th (5,460 yen for two episodes)

K-ON! occupies the Amazon Blu-ray ranking.
