A 35 year old man was arrested for murder on March 9th in Taipei, Taiwan. He deposed that he committed the crime by referring to a Japanese manga which he read long time ago. Police explained to the press that he had lost his job and been in despair. He remembered a manga and thought killing people would improve the situation. He visited a landlord and asked the man to show him a room. He killed the landlord with a hammer and wounded the landlord's wife and son with a large knife.
His favorite manga is reportedly "GUNNM (Battle Angel Alita)".

So something bad happened and the blame goes to a manga/anime/movie/games...what else is new?

Yeah, it's everytime the same. It's so easy to blame a thing instead of people.

If he is really sick, why didn't his family do anything to help him? He is indeed an grown up individual , but his loved ones could have done something, maybe going with him to see a doctor or helping him overcome his posible "manga addiction" .

Apparently he was convinced that killing will bring him bursts of fortune as told in the manga. Officials stated that the manga had nothing of those sorts, and is looking into mental disorders.

A lot of people seem to have forgotten that violence existed long before anime, manga, TV, games, etc. and that those people just blame their own faults on something totally unrelated.

lol well, according to the almighty book, the first sin was disobedience, which was followed by murder[an interesting trend, no?]. its in our blood. people don't forget they just look the other way, or cover their eyes.

please dont make a conversation about something so stupid that happened even less intelligent, by bringing "the almighty book" into it :/

actually i meant it to be sarcastic. i could really care less what the book says. whatever his motivation was, he obviously came to the conclusion that murder was the best alternative.

Raskolnikov? Is that you?

yeah, he could blame not only manga but Dostoevsky too.
"it was his spirit who made me kill them"
new trend to use games and Japanese pop-culture as an cop-out for everything. the easiest way. someone, lend this Taiwan guy some brains.

Once again, its obviously the mangas fault. Because you dont need to be crazy in the first place to have done it.

Blame it on hentai instead. You can just say the tentacles were making you skull fuck people.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

It makes me infinitely joyful to see that some people here know their classics.

And to be honest, after the case where a serial killer admitted he was inspired by excersise videos, most criminologists with half a brain know not to attribute the cause to the inspiration.

Watching this on the news right now.

Saw the crime scene, its horrible, blood everywhere.

Made me laugh a bunch.

TL: I just wanted to kill. This house got unlucky.

Apparently he showed no signs or remorse or anything.

So the Killer was just whack in the brain.
