Manga Operation Mort Wins Angouleme Heritage Essential Prize 2009
Mizuki Shigeru's manga "Operation Mort (Souin Gyokusai seyo)" won the Heritage Essential prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival held in France.
Operation Mort is based on Mizuki's own experience in New Britain Island during the World War II. 500 soldiers died as the last stand to let 100,000 men division flee from the US troops.
Mizuki Shigeru won the Angoulême Best Comic Book Prize in 2007 with his autobiography "NonNonBâ".
