Funimation has recently announced that they have acquired the distribution rights to the first 26 (out of 50) episodes of Kenichi. The series originally aired in the fall of 2006 and ran until the following September 2007. The manga is still ongoing and the 29th volume will be released in Japan later this month.

Funimation plans to release the series in two volumes (13 episodes each) with the first being released in January 2009.

Eh, I'm not interested in this series, but I hope for the sakes of those that are that Funimation actually releases the whole thing eventually unlike a certain Kodocha.

I agree, the title doesnt matter as long as they dont change the dialogue. It's annoying though and shows how removed these people are from their fanbase.

My thoughts too. "Mightiest" sounds retarded. Seriously, do the licensing companies even bother to check what the general community knows the show as? No, I think not.

I would assume they usually don't really care, to be honest. It's a pretty common occurrence when movies, television shows and whatever else are licensed in other countries. In fact, Japan has done the same thing to a number of our TV shows and movies.

I don't care about the show either way, but as long as they don't edit it to hell and back, does the title really matter?

Well that's good to here. Didn't really expect Kenichi to go that far...

I Wonder if it will be cheaper that way in the end, since your only paying for two boxes.
