God, pretty this, beauty that, femininity this. I want to like this but it's so superficial and constantly grates on my nerves. It really has the potential for positivity but lord does it miss.
I like stories where main characters have to get creative, but it feels like it falls flat there too. It never feels creative, especially when the main characters are already geniuses. They just make a generic girl into what they say is a prettier generic girl.
It's cute and I enjoyed it but it was a bit too immature for me, which makes sense since it is for kids but I like kids' stories. The potential for positivity and earnestness from a point of view not fully immersed in the adult world that comes with them warms my heart but, while I did like it because I'm a softy, it didn't take it far enough for me to not die every time they mentioned something having to do with someone's beauty.
I did like it though, and I would recommend it to people, but it's not a masterpiece. I may reread to do a more in-depth review. This gets a five from me for now, may change in the future. Remember, five is Average not Terrible.
