That about sums up Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san. This manga is basically vanilla romance porn for us folk out there who just want to chill, relax and not care about who's the better bishounen or which waifu has better ... khm ... "plot". In a nutshell, it's a rather episodic manga, with our main girl teasing our main guy, and our main guy trying to tease her back, but can't 'cause he sucks, and girl is ... a master troll.

There isn't much to a story here so it's pointless to grade it anyway, but I don't mind honestly. Its episodic nature has its own charms, and chapter after chapter, it never fails to put a grin on my face. I think this is the first time in my life of reading manga that I didn't lose my shit over the lack of progress or ... khm ... "plot". It simply manages to charm you with everyday actions, and those 'kyaaaaaaaaaaaaah mothafucka' moments are truly, outrageously fabulous.

Art is crisp and clean if you're worried about that, and girl, while lacking ... khm ... "plot", is quite a cutie (pedo alert, pedo alert).

There are only two characters, and the point of them is basically mutual growth and understanding as well as individual developments. MC may seem dense, but he's never actually annoying, which I like about him. The manga, at the start at least, gives off 'Seki-kun' vibe (just in reverse), but it matures beyond it to be honest, and has some fantastic troll moments (damn you mangaka!).

All in all, it's not spectacular, it's not flashy, it won't have you bowling your eyes out like 7y old when your nurse pulls your wee-wee too hard, but it's general simplicity and charm (as well as those troll moments) makes it a wonderful read that you can simply dive into to forget all the troubles of the world (or the fact that your waifu wasn't chosen).

Heart-on!

Skilled teaser Takagi-San. From the title alone, you would know what this manga would serve you. Yes, lots and lots of teasing. The story revolves around Takagi, the female protagonist, teasing Nishikata, the male protagonist, in many different ways. Usually what happens would be playing mind games with Nishikata by subtly showing signs that she likes him, resulting in Nishikata confused and thinking that Takagi is just teasing him. In short this manga is about typical Puppy Love. Or is it?

Art is very distinct, and when I mean distinct I meant just one look at the characters, I instantly know that the artist ... is Souichirou Yamamoto. The smug smile of the characters, the big cute forehead, and the character hairstyles. Backgrounds are very clean too, and the art also has a hint of the word "comical" for me, and I love it.

Character- 10
Characters in this manga are top-notch. Much like Tonari no Seki-kun where there are only 2 main characters in the story, it provides a seemingly endless plot, filled with endless possibilities, that leaves readers wanting more and not worrying about asking for something new.

Hey, I'm smiling in every minute that I'm reading this manga. If that doesn't mean I enjoy it, then I don't know what is. The feeling of seeing a new released chapter in a manga streaming site, or seeing a discussion about the latest chapter in an online message board makes me smile because in just a few clicks away, I would feel butterflies in my tummy.

To wrap things up, Skilled Teaser Takagi-san, is a manga that I highly recommend. If you think that you enjoy reading this manga because Takagi is teasing Nishikata, you're dead wrong. You enjoy reading this manga because YOU are the one being teased by this manga. You like being teased. Yes, you, the one reading this review. It really takes one to know one. lol.

I really liked not only the premise of the manga but also the art style that I had seen from a few images on /a/. I honestly didn't expect much, considering the fact that I thought it to be one of those manga that you couldn't really take seriously and it wouldn't really end up being anything more than just a cutesy little thing, but as I read on I kept thinking about how much nicer it would have been if it were in fact more serious than it was, and as such my review is a serious one.

Let's start with the story, then. There ... really wasn't one at all, there were a few hints of something going down with a festival (that ended on something with potential but ultimately the manga didn't do anything with it), as well as summer break bike training and the swimsuit selection, but other than that everything is just episodic. Personally whenever I read a manga that has to do with schooling, I tend to enjoy it more when I can be immersed by having the school go through various events, ie different seasons and festivals, neither of which the story really capitalized on. There was one episode where they changed seats but nothing really ended up happening there. Overall though my main issue with the story is that it's the same thing almost every single time: Girl teases boy, boy gets flustered, tries to fluster her back, and ultimately fails at it usually with a small hint of romance from the girl that the guy ignores or doesn't fully respond to. That's really it, and in my opinion the parts that could have really progressed the relationship between the guy and the girl would have been either the swimsuit chapters (which is where the manga is currently at), the horoscope/blood type chapter, or the festival chapter. All of those show that the relationship between the two of them could grow, but by the next chapters its always the same thing once again.

And with that allow me to enter the characters. If I really were to be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with them. Sometimes the main guy does something manly, but most of the time he's just a retard. The girl can sometimes try and convey her feelings to the guy, but ultimately she just tries to tease him because that's what she enjoys. I really don't understand either of them, I'm sure it's nice to do what they do but why would being in a relationship stop them from doing what they do now? I don't see a reason as to why the girl wouldn't want to be in a relationship with the guy, even though she's tried several times to show him that she liked him. How would she not get upset? Annoyed? I understand being fine with the current situations but it really feels like she's never been serious about this and that upsets me. As for the guy, he just gets really embarassed a lot and tends not to really convey any of his true feelings unless he's kind of unaware of it. He showed SOME character development with the festival scene, but as I said before that literally went nowhere so as far as I'm concerned he's just the same throughout the entire manga. That's the main issue that I have with the characters, they don't progress or develop. They're always the same, there's nothing different about them. They just keep doing the same stupid shit over and over again and after the first 14 chapters the characters start to sound like a broken record. I want to reiterate this: I don't think either of them are bad characters based on how they are in the manga, it's just the fact that they won't develop that makes me unable to believe they are realistic and as such flawed, which is the reason for my low scoring of the characters.

The art on the other hand is absolutely great. I cannot find any mistakes, and if I did, it would be one of the very rare things that happens. Absolutely perfect linework, character designs, and it's just overall nice to look at.

Soo this is my first review, so I don't really know how to write one but meh this'll be live practice or something.
All I can say is this manga is amazing. I picked it up awhile back since it was recommended after I finished like Koe no Katachi or something I forgot xd but I glad I did, because after every chapter I felt good for some reason. Like it has everything I need basically to keep on living (dw not litera-). Even though it kind of repeats the same plot, Nishikata super sure he can prank Takagi that day but always fails like no ... matter what and at the same time Takagi's way of beating him hits the heart spot. The uh, heart strings I think that's what it is welp off topic ;3. Even though these events mostly occur in each chapter, it's still entertaining and heartwarming since the entire time your always thinking 'ok these 2wo better get married or I'm gonna come over to the writer and wan paaaaaawnch.' Just, idk why I love this so much but if you haven't read it yet PLEASE DO!!!

It seems that modern anime and manga completely forget that romance can exist outside of the typical "high school romance" formula. As mainstream as this formula is, it is not the only to succeed in telling a romance story.

Karakai Jouzo no Takagi-san understands this completely. It's a lighthearted romance story between two middle school students. A girl named Takagi likes to tease the boy she sits next to in class for the fun of it. Meanwhile, the boy, named Nishikata, tries to get back at her everyday but fails endlessly. Though simple, the formula this manga manages to portray interesting scenarios with a few ... twist and turns along the way.

Story: 8

Generally, the manga focuses various independent scenarios that have minimal connections to each other. However, a few overarching chapters are thrown in and show progression from chapter to chapter. Most of the time, these chapters aren't always one after another meaning that the "story" isn't told in order.
In most cases, this would lead to a disjointed and imperfect plot, but it works well here. If the "important" chapters were told in order, the manga would be unbalanced resulting in a lopsided distribution of development.
As for the chapters themselves, nothing is ever taken too seriously. We get to see a boy and a girl go back and forth with the girl always prevailing. While this is predictable, you'll never know how Takagi will deceive Nishikata. Even then, there are a few curveballs that change up the formula, albeit temporarily.

Art: 9

The art of Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is generally well-polished and distinct. The environments are pretty standard, while the character designs are unique, yet very effective.
Takagi-san's wide array of facial expressions are enough to fool Nishikata and us as well. However, even with her smugness, we can always tell that her intents are never malicious. If this wasn't the case, it would hurt the manga severely.
As for Nishikata, his facial expressions display his overconfidence and dread when needed. You can truly feel when he has his hopes high and tell when he's contemplating his next move.
I'd like to note that in the first few chapters, the art is a bit rough around the edges, but only compared to later chapters when the author had a sense of the manga. You won't be bothered by it in your first reading, but if you were to look back at the first dozen chapters or so, you'll notice a bit of a difference.
Nevertheless, the artwork does a fantastic at amplifying the humor and satire of any given situation.

Character: 10

A character doesn't need deep motivations and constant development to be great.
Much like it's premise, the characters are simple, yet charming in countless ways.
Nishikata is a bit dense and overconfident at times, but he is more aware than he lets on. He spends more time questioning his actions than he does simply trying to figure out Takagi's schemes. This makes him a likable character that you want to root for. He always takes into consideration how an action will affect him and how others view him, which is the exact thought process of a middle school student. Even if he could outsmart Takagi by underhanded tactics, he knows when to let go of something. Granted, even when he has a reasonable chance of gaining the upperhand, he still messes it up. But this is why many readers will resonate with him. With that and his constant motivation to improve (to no avail), we can't help but laugh not only with him, but at him (while still feeling sympathetic).

As for Takagi, she is the real star of the show (or manga in this case). She's obviously the most emotionally mature of the two of them, but she's never seen as stuck-up or cocky. Even if she does constantly tease Nishikata, she always gives him a fair chance to win (that he never seems to take, or know how to take for that matter). Usually, the end result of Nishikata's humiliation is brought about by his choices and not hers. Nevertheless, she legitimately cares for him and wouldn't put him in any serious danger. With that being said, the most important part of her character is how un-malicious she is. She could easily become a generic tsundere, but she is more than that. Nevertheless, her various schemes never fail to be funny. In addition, every situation she puts Nishikata in is completely realistic. It's exactly what you'd see between two middle school students who wouldn't admit that they want to be around each other, but feel that way anyways.

While the side characters aren't worth mentioning, they often provide another perspective on Takagi and Nishikata's relationship.

Enjoyment: 10

No matter who you are, you will enjoy Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san for what it is. Everybody can relate with Nishikata and will find Takagi's trickery funny. Even more so, everybody will find it endlessly heartwarming and is very nostalgic for anybody who is no longer in school. Every chapter offers a new scenario that puts a twist on a formula that could become repetitive, but doesn't.

Overall, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is pure-hearted fun that everybody will enjoy. Even if you're an edgy teenager, or a middle-aged parent, you will fall in love with these characters and the various scenarios they get themselves in. The art is distinct and displays every situation fantastically. This is undoubtedly a must-read for any manga fan, or anybody who wants to see an illustrated version of a middle school relationship.

INNOCENT, Innocent, Innocence.

This manga will make you blush from head to toe. I love the atmosphere the humour, the character personality, and most of all the tricks the heroine plays not only on the MC but also the readers ;).

If I could choose the definition of youth it would be this manga. Although mature in moments and manipulative all the time, the heroine proves to be quite the character. The MC however, the polar opposite, naive and easy to fool, makes you just want to follow a long and watch their story.

If your looking for a casual read or a binge read, this is ... definitely a go to. With humour and romance around every corner this is your one of a kind rom-com.

I have to be honest. I really want to like this series.

I've been reading romance mangas since the mid-90s, and each scenario of each chapter touches every sweet spot in my body with such teasing love. And I didn't mean to drop such a review because I love or hate something. I just like to be critical for things I like, and I wanted to see if anyone else would agree.

Generally, I like this concept where they continue to situate this love/hate tension (reminds me so much of Ranma 1/2) but here's my input...

The formula has gone stale for me. It's repetitive. Sometimes ... refreshing, but obviously predictable.

This is practically "calamity coyote that never gets the roadrunner." For the first 30-ish chapters, it's cute and creative. But by the 60-ish chapter, I get tired of already knowing what's gonna happen: Takagi-san will always win, and Nishikata will always lose. There's hardly any progression, nothing new is learned, these characters act like nothing's changed, more teasers to come (obviously).

It almost makes me wish for either character to stop and come to a 'realization'/metamorphosis stage, so they could transform to a more refined person that acknowledges the need for change or growth.

I don't think this suggestion would end the series, and I think it'd be more engaging or challenging to see how they two could continue teasing each other in a different light, from a different point of view, from a view that's actually trying to make something of itself; characters that actually make something of this relationship.

But if I have to wait until the very end to see these characters change, I think I could pass or just skip to the critical moments in the very end.

On a lighter note, this series is very similar to this would be Horimiya, and that series does a great job of showcasing differences between opposite sex, and it's not limited to characters in endless loop plot.

As for this series, I held on as long as I could, and I'm over it...

So, finally this manga has come to an end. If you are not acquainted with it, this is a slice-of-life romcom that follows the daily lives of middle school students Takagi and Nishikata. Takagi is a master at teasing and pranking Nishikata, who always plans to beat her at her own game but ends up outwitted and embarrassed himself. Then repeat next chapter. It's episodic, so you can even read the chapters out of order, it won't make any difference. This manga has become very recognizable over its long run, and maybe even inspired other stories like Nagatoro.

Despite their constant antics, Takagi and Nishikata have ... a close friendship and unsaid feelings for each other. This is what can be concluded in chapter 1, and this is where any development stops, which is my only criticism of this manga. There is very little progression, for hundreds of chapters. They are still funny and endearing, despite that. And it does have an ending.

The art is good, clean and clear, and characters are drawn very consistently.

I recommend this to anyone who wants to read a simple, wholesome and cute story. Even a single chapter can make your day a little better and lighter.
And if you like this, I especially recommend its adaptation. In my opinion, the anime greatly outshines its manga counterpart: it rearranges some chapters to be more chronological, so it has better build-up, and genuinely heartwarming, beautiful moments sadly missing in the source material.

This series is a hard one to review because it was always intended to be a light read. There are no deep themes, or plot twists, it’s just something you’re supposed to read on your commute once a week and give you a “Aw, how cute” feeling.

That being said, it still felt like it was milked way beyond appeal.

Story: Almost every chapter follows the same routine. Nishitaka wants to defeat Takagi-san and they play some “game”, he loses, and perhaps there is some hint of romance between them. Occasionally we follow other characters, but they usually just are their own couples with their own routine ... dynamic. By Chapter 50 you’re probably already tired of it, and it’s not even half way over. There isn’t really romantic progress, though it’s hinted at more and more as the series goes on, the plot is not told chronologically, you aren’t actually seeing a deepening relationship. The series would have been a lot more enjoyable if it was much shorter, or Nishitaka and Takagi’s chapters were a side plot and the manga spent more time with other characters to inject some variety.

Characters: The games Nishitaka and Takagi play range from clever to kind of weird and making either Nishitaka look like a moron or Takagi has some sort of psychic powers. They are definitely some of the best “cute” characters in a series in a while, but they get one note at times. The side cast appears sparingly and are also somewhat one note.

Art: The art style shifts somewhat dramatically. It becomes much cleaner and more detailed, however Takagi’s design becomes more moeified and looks like a alien at times.

Overall: 5/10. It definitely can be enjoyable if you want a light read and cute moments, but due to its length and the time invested to read it all, it could have been more engaging with some changes without losing its main appeal.

This was a great manga.

Art looked good. Panels and fillings looked good. I always give a plus to artstyles that I can recognize.

Plot and development I liked. The episodic nature let me read this at my own pace and prevented fatigue over the many years of publication. I could put it on hold and catch up without worry. The simple plot made each chapter nice to read during a break or during a bit of downtime. It also helped to keep the chapters straightforward without a bunch of needless filler that I don't prefer. This didn't feel like a slow burn to me. It oddly ... felt just right in terms of romantic progression and entertainment.

The conclusion was perfect. I have no complaints. It answered my questions, fulfilled what I wanted out of the story, and left me hopeful and positive for everything outside of the pages.

Great romance. I would recommend this.

Teasing Master Takagi San is an adorable and fluffy series. It’s one that I genuinely enjoy reading and one that I never get bored with despite not having an overarching plot. In my opinion, the joy of this manga is seeing Takagi and Nishikata hanging around together and how their relationship is naturally progressed, like how friends are in real life.

Art - Given that this is Yamamoto’s first work, the character designs may seem a little off for the first 3 volumes, especially if you’re coming from the anime and are used to it’s art style. Once you get to Volume 4, this is ... where the author starts to find his groove with his art style, where it’s now aligned to how we see Takagi today as well as his current works such as Soredemo Ayumu, Fudatsuki no Kyouko-Chan, Tsubaki, and his various one shots.

As for the artstyle itself, it’s a nice artstyle with good character designs. The expressions are wonderful here as it captures Takagi’s teasing nature such as her giggles and smugs and Nishikata’s flustered expressions as he blushes very hard when gets thrown off guard. It gives a wholesome aww and cute atmosphere to it, where I’m constantly smiling at how adorable it is. For the more intimate moments, the author does a great job at expressing their emotions, such as their smiles and blushes, really making you admire how adorable Takagi and Nishikata’s relationship is.

Story - I’ll be blunt and get straight to the point here, if you’re expecting an overarching plot or a story with strong character development, you’re not gonna get that here. Sometimes a simple and lighthearted story like this can still be just as enjoyable. I say that because there are those people that do complain and forget that they’re reading for fluff and get disappointed when the story goes no where. The premise is Nishikata trying to tease Takagi back and it’s pretty much the entire story with a few exceptions with some of the chapters. It’s a very simple and straightforward plot and premise that repeats itself throughout the series. While some might find it a problem, I personally don’t see it as an issue and it doesn’t take away my overall enjoyment with the series. If you do want a Yamamoto series that does have an overarching plot and romantic progression, then Soredemo Ayumu is the series for it.

As I said, the joy of this manga is the relationship between Takagi and Nishikata. Their dynamic feels natural to me, similar to how a regular friendship works. Takagi teasing Nishikata and him trying to tease her back to no avail is very cute, wholesome, and funny. When it comes to the more intimate moments these two have, it’s really wonderful because you start to see how these 2 naturally become close friends, almost to the point where it feels like they become a part of each other’s lives. Yeah I may have over exaggerated that bit, but I find it so wholesome and more natural feeling that I truly enjoy their friendship and the moments they spend together. Even though the premise is simple and repeats itself, I really do not mind it as I enjoy their dynamic and that is what keeps me coming back to it because I find their relationship to be so wholesome.

There are also side stories of Takagi and Nishikata’s friends and classmates which they are nice stories that help change the pace a bit.

Characters - The characters in the series are relatively simple, to which that isn’t a bad thing. For a series like this, the characters are enjoyable, while Takagi and Nishikata are well known for their dynamic. Takagi is such a tease and I love her for that because it really makes the moments she has with Nishikata so hilarious and wholesome, and I feel it’s her way of showing her affection to him because she enjoys his presence. I also love Nishikata and his flustered reactions, doing his absolute best to tease Takagi back but ends up getting thrown off guard when Takagi comes out victorious, they give me a great laugh. As I said before, the dynamic between the two is the reason why I love this series and seeing them together always gives me a smile especially when they have their intimate, or close friend moments where you see them caring for each other to which that is wholesome in another degree.

The side characters, being Takagi and Nishikata’s friends and classmates, are pretty simple characters and are not relatively important to the story, but still have a nice presence to them.

Enjoyment - Overall, I genuinely love and enjoy reading Takagi. Even after rereading, I never got bored with it so that alone it’s a 10/10 in the enjoyment scale. As I said, I love the dynamic between Takagi and Nishikata, their relationship is so wholesome and naturally progressed that I can’t stop smiling. Yeah it’s a simple premise and yeah it repeats itself, but for what it is, it’s definitely one of my favorite fluff stories and I recommend it to anyone who needs a nice lighthearted story and wholesome interactions.

I also recommend watching the anime version as there are scenes that are executed way better in anime format as well as great anime original content, and the voice acting from Rie Takahashi as Takagi and Yuki Kaji as Nishikata is also spot on and done very well to their characters.

Enjoyment of this series is based 100 percent on what you want specifically, because this series so far has been mostly just relaxed chapters with no real progression.

If that’s what you want to read, then it’s definitely recommended because it does provide a relaxed reading experience in a quality way. But, this experience will feel almost the same way nearly every time, with the exception of some chapters, because of the formula that nearly every chapter follows.

If you are looking for a series with progression over the first several volumes(and further), then you’ll be disappointed and it isn’t recommended. Again, it’s all about what you ... want and expectations.

I wanna start by saying the first review on this page with the most 'helpful' hits does this manga a great disservice. This is one of the more wholesome manga series out there and its humor is hardly ever perverse.

Teasing Master Takagi-san is my personal escape. Bad day? Getting over a bittersweet show? Just looking for something light to pass the time? It doesn't really get better than this for sheer good vibes and a decent laugh.

Boasting a lovable set of characters, Teasing Master Takagi-san is a wonderful middle school romance comedy which is composed almost entirely of verbal exchange and banter between ... its two protagonists, Nishikata and Takagi (with the exception of several more emotional chapters or filler chapters with the supporting characters).

There isn't much to say story-wise since the chapters don't appear to have any sequence or serious story line. But that isn't what Takagi-san is about. It's a flower-hearted story and it succeeds in its aim of creating lovable characters, good comedy, and a sugary adolescent love story that does not appear to be taking any sort of direction (yet).

In other words, if what you're egging for is a more serious high school romance/drama/comedy, this really isn't it. Try Toradora or even Clannad.

Notes on the anime adaptation: it doesn't follow the manga. Instead, it takes some chapters and weaves them into a more coherent story. Also, it takes the cuteness to a different level. It's a great adaptation.

This manga's a really refreshing read. It's great for people who would like light-hearted manga that could make you smile a bit! It follows a simple format:

Nishikata plans something, Takagi goes along with it/plays hard to get. Nishikata has his mischievous smile and plans written all over his face. Takagi hits Nishikata with a tease, and the reveal of Takagi being three steps ahead of him. Nishikata turns into a red tomato and his plans fail.

It sometimes changes, usually doesn't. It's really just the story, but it somehow has a charm to make you smile.
It's not really great for people who'd almost always ... like an compelling, exciting read, people who really read into the plot and question its common sense, but there's a piece of cake for everyone.

Art is sort of a mix between chibi (head as big as the torso) and the generic anime artstyle (somehow nice proportions, not too realistic at all, but a bit detailed). It's really crisp and clean. Manga boxes for situations are a bit big than usual manga, and often leaves out backgrounds as white to give the clean feel.

Story is simple, but charming. It seems a bit boring at times, but it's not a huge issue for myself.

Overall, it's a nice read. Ending is really cute.

When i started this manga what i'was looking for was just something quite fun. What i found was far beyond my expectations.

Despite lacking a real plot, with different chapters hardly connected to the previous ones, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san keep going without annoying me not a single time!
To put it simple: girls mature faster then boys? Is that true? Yeah, it is. And that 's what this manga is all about. The love/hate relationship between Takagi and Nishikata shows us how much "grown" they could be, despite being classmate and same age.
Just two main characters, very well made, can produce a good manga, really ... funny but at the same time meaningful.
It's an 8.5, without a doubt.

Finished. The teasing/romcom, many side characters to break things up, many places/games they go to and play. As far as it goes it's fun to read/clear it's audience but still fun of chapters to read a few, come back/1 a day or binge.

If enjoy fair character moments/no big deal plot but just moment to moment stuff I recommend it. That's what I read it for was the moments/comedy.

The art is good. The character expressions and even odd side character moments were memorable. Backgrounds look good.

Misdirection happens for jokes/hiding emotions/presenting thoughts but you can usually tell what's going on.

The Moto inclusions at times were nice (Moto ... does the same having callbacks to the original) but if wanted more to connect to it you'll see it lacking at times. So only keep at as ah a reference/connection, but brief, nothing that much contributing just a nod that it exists I'd say/some advertising/something for those reading it or newcomers not knowing the older characters Moto series exists.

It's enjoyable for the formula/some odd story but the ending cheap. Also gave me S2 vibes/fit the season but that's about it, that and some tropey dialogue I hate seeing.

Gonna say it, the anime was better. S3 was better. The more story changes then formula was nice there and the manga tries but the ending was cheaper/lamer in the manga of how to end it/now do enough, it 'ramps up', ends in a misdirect a few times and wow they may did or didn't change from that, the anime was better at presenting the build up. Where they went to present it. Some formulaic manga ended better than this one.

Not seen the movie as of this review but still. Read this without the S2/3 anime as it may ruin things for you of comparison. But either way the anime presented many things way better.

I gave it an 8 like any I like. They aren't perfect, but they don't have to be either it's not that kind of manga.

Not all chapters are amazing, not all scenes are funny, not all are touching/tropey, but some are and annoying. But next chapter and move on and it's fine.

To me the moments are fun and that's why I kept reading, it's fun to read, see what they do next, who wins, who reacts, what places they go to, what games/what thoughts they have.

Emotions didn't mean much, the touching moments aren't my thing, they were there sometimes, but they do the job I guess but after 100+ nah. Just take it as moments to enjoy for fun and nothing deeper. Or seeing some repeat also happens but usually many chapters later so it doesn't feel off.

Many are memorable I found though.

The premise of Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is very simple,
>Girl likes boy
>Boy is dense
>Girl teases boy daily
>Boy continues to be dense and not realize girl likes him
>Continue ad nauseam

This might sound repetitive, and that's because it is! However, the writing quality is good and the art style helps carry what would be an otherwise simple concept forward for so many chapters with very little development between the two main characters....

Furthermore, seeing Nishitaka get literally dunked on every chapter in different ways by Takagi is too funny to not enjoy. It's not often to see some kid get absolutely demolished for what is now 160 ... chapters straight with only one or two wins against the other. Genuinely fun time, I'd recommend it to anyone whos looking for some wholesome fun.

Teasing Master Takagi-san is a fun, episodic, light manga.
the first time I started reading it, I dropped it. That's because I wanted a thriller, intense plot based manga.... something like Monster or Homunculus. This manga did not fulfill that requirement.

Then I picked it up again, wanting to have a light read.....it was exam time. I wanted something with short, fun chapters. Interesting enough to enjoy, but short enough to prevent binging. And I struck gold. This manga is gold for this purpose.
No regrets.

A boy and a girl go to school, they live nearby, so walk together. They enjoy each others' company, and ... play pranks. That's the plot. So simple, right?
And it works really well. The story is sweet, cute, and we see them growing from young kids who hate the opposite gender to teens who are curious. Innocent love.
No highschool drama----I'm so glad about this. No villains, just a wholesome love/friendship story.

Characters 9/10
Nishikata is the boy who keeps losing the pranks to the teasing master--Takagi-san. Both these guys are lovable. They are kind, fun, mischievious. And we see them grow. Towards the later chapters I felt nostalgic, re-read from the start.
High re-readablity. And you might catch hints that you missed on the first read.
All the charcters are amazing.

This is a wholesome, beautiful episodic manga. One that I'll always remember. Less for the plot, and more for the characters. A thought that I had many times, while reading this manga was---the teasing master is not Takagi-san, it is the mangaka. He is the one who keeps making us feel excited again and again when Nishikata is about to win, and the BOOM---Takagi wins. And we(the readers) are the ones being teased. And is is always unexpected and fun. I always wonder how long can he do this before it becomes repetitive. So far, this manga has always exceeded my expectations.

Highly recommemded.

I think one of the most underrated pieces of a manga is the ending. -Or rather whether or not the story *HAS* an end. So many series just go on and on and wear out their welcome. One Piece is probably the quintessential example here, but far from the only offender. I'll avoid a spoiler for obvious reasons, but know that this series has an end. It doesn't overstay it's welcome, none of the characters fall victim to flanderization, the author doesn't ever put out chapters that scrape the bottom of the barrel for ideas, and from start to finish there's a sense of progression.

Karakai ... Jouzu No Takagi-San finds it's footing very quickly. It's a very simple story and once you read a few chapters you'll know if the rest of it is worth your time. It basically does the same thing for the entirety of it's run; which is fine. The games are fun. They're not like, intellectually stimulating or anything- in that none of the solutions are ever brain teasers. But they all make sense and genuinely feel like games between kids. The story makes sense but again isn't anything crazy. It's just a slice of life following two kids who compete with one another. It gets a bonus point for having an ending and not pulling anything stupid during its run. The art is clean and pleasing.

It was a good read. If you're looking for something cute, casual, and mildly funny this is an excellent choice. And if you aren't? I'd still recommend giving the first few chapters a read. They're short enough that it won't take you long and you might get unexpectedly hooked.

Teasing Master Takagi-san has been a happy thorn in my side for some time now. Overall I had a wonderful time reading this series and enjoying almost all of it.

I started reading this series right before the follow up series of them older and it was wonderful until the last couple years of the series.


Overall I give this series a 8/10 because it felt like it was stretched too thin, but at the same time ignored by the author once they started the older version series. Which was sad imo because I started reading/following this mangaka because of this series (and the vampire ... one).

Art is a 9/10 it's as good a it gets with good expressions and background arts

Story is a 10/10 until the end then 8/10 for previous statements. It was funny and cute and good to see interactions between the characters and how the Mc grew over the years.

Characters are a 10/10 for the ones I remember. It isn't as bad as other series like komi-san but there are a good amount you forget about but the more reoccurring ones are well written in the parts they show up.

To conclude this series really brought the romcom wholesome type manga and anime into the spotlight for a lot of people and it deserves it's spot but I wish it wasn't as sidelined as it was in the later years of it's publication. Do give it a read if you like this type of r
