I picked this up off the shelf of my local bookstore. It looked cute, so I decided to give it a try. And boy, this has to be the biggest regret of my manga-reading life!
First off: The story- fairly original. I mean, a feminine boy and masculine girl switch bodies and see what the "other side" is like? I can get behind that! Unfortunately, that is brought down by the reinforcement of sexual stereotypes and disgusting character interactions.
Akira is a PIG! While she has an issue with Momoi looking at/ touching her body (And how can he not? He has to bathe sometime!), she has

It's rare when I find a manga that makes me smile the whole time I'm reading it, this is one of them!
This is an absolutely fantastic manga, the best gender-bending manga I've read as of yet. The relationship between Akira and his/her best friend is so 'closet steamy' and cute. And the real Momoi is having a ball living in Akira's body and enjoying the "joys" of young healthy male-hood. The relationship between all the characters are so great, the interplay enjoyable, and the manga itself is such a blast; romantic, a little bit smutty, and with a touch of yaoi/yuri ... Jan 30, 2015
My thoughts are… really complicated. I can kinda see what Ai was going for in the manga, but she’s not really known to follow the masses. She has really strange manga ideas (like Ahiru no Ouji-sama and Gokuraku Seishun Hockey Bu, another set of manga of hers I’ve yet to finish) as well as literally throwing fuck all at the wall and seeing what sticks. And I’m guessing… this wasn’t it.
On one hand, I like the idea. I like the idea of challenging the idea between masculinity and femininity and, seeing how I actually learned something about the issues of feminism in Japan, this made ... Dec 28, 2010
I picked the manga out randomly, because after reading its summary the story of a boy and a girl switching bodies could be fun and good. Well, definitely not this one.
Story: 3/10 The story was really poorly written. When there could've been lots of funny and lovely moments and cute character relationships, there was only a bland and annoying story with dreadful characters. Things happened one after another, as if the mangaka didn't spare much thought to any of them. Art: 4/10 The art was kinda bland and the faces were mostly expressionless. There were also a lot of frames where the characters were stocky and not well ... Dec 23, 2015
I dont even know where to begin....
The catagories this manga is listed as are about as far from the nature of the story as it could be. This is in no shape or form a romantic comedy, it is a psychological tradegy drama - the notion it could be anything else but a tragedy can only be due to either not having read the entire story or simply not paying mind to what is going on. The score will be based on MAL's listed genres. The primary "comedy" is nothing but overused tropes - an old pervert and a massive siscon. Feeling massively out of place ... Mar 19, 2019
I recommend that you should stay away from this manga if you:
- strongly emphasize with fictional characters - have alot of self-respect - have alot of respect for other people - have a big sense of justice - value ideology and moral - are sensitive You would score the manga very low if you are interested in a deep romance. ... Oct 28, 2013
I decided to read this manga after reading hana kimi and Tokyo crazy paradise and then I enjoyed gender blenders a lot. It wasn't as good as these two but it was pretty hilarious I laughed a lot and enjoyed it a lot
For story I give 6 it's really original but very annoying the way it goes at the beginning is a bit too slow that I actually went thru some pages only by looking at the pictures For the art I give 7 it's really funny the way the artists draws the different expressions of each character For character I give 6 sometimes momoi ... This manga is just like Pretty face[Boy who have face of girl due to surgery] and Kakumei no hi[girl who thought she was boy until her age 17] and Akane chan Overdrive[just like boku to kanojho ...swapping of souls]..But the storyline differs from those mangas even the Gender bender thing is same in these mangas..
Art is cute and the expressions sure reach the readers..No wrong with it..I will give 10 for it ..Characters are good too but they remind me of previous gender bender mangas i read..well..Its cute to see Akira in Mamois ... Jun 21, 2016
Well, knowing the publication was discontinued makes me feel a little better about dropping this series...
My conclusions at the end of volume one were as such: Fairly entertaining. Good for a light read. And I probably would have continued if the rest of the published volumes were already in my possession for some reason. But it was not something I'd be willing to spend money on to continue. (I found volume one for, like, a dollar at the local flea market, and at that point, manga is manga. I'm willing to give anything a try when I'm getting it practically for free.) There was ... Want to state this at the start of the review. But i might come back and lower this to a 3 in the future.
Just nothing but Annoying, Cringy, Unfunny and stupid moments. Biggest hate i have for this entire story is that the two MC's don't even get together. It's so annoying to watch some guy's best friend almost rape him multiple times just because he's now a chick. I can't even properly explain how much this entire story annoyed me and the biggest problem is this right her. Also things like the chick that goes into the guy's body is just a total asshole that goes ... Sep 2, 2009
i just realized that any manga by morinaga ai are all weird. weird but surprisingly hilarious. i found myself laughing out loud and not just smiling. but i was seriously confused since this would make a yaoi/yuri manga. a bit disturbing but since the guy is too pathetically girly and the girl uber manly it doesn't bother me anymore. but senbongi, he knew akira's a guy and yet...he says he loves him! i'm at a loss there.@_@
in the recent chapter, it looks like the switching device is fixed so i'm wondering if they'll finally return to their respective bodies or seeing as it was ... Mar 14, 2019
Do i start from the fact that this manga made me feel so uneasy that i decided to write a review about it although i never bother writing one most of the time?
To be fair, i enjoyed reading it in the beginning, it was interesting and i couldn't excatcly predict what what going to happen next so i continued reading it. I finished it in two sittings, the first sitting was fun but it was during the second sitting that i started to feel really pissed off considering how patient i was trying to be. They kept repeating te same damn mistakes and I’m gonna ... Dec 9, 2017
First of all the summary really caught my interest because imagine, a feminine boy and masculine girl switching bodies ( there might be an interesting development between the two). I was really interested in the beginning (well it made me laugh) but as I got into the later part, I got disappointed. I thought having their bodies switched would change each other's personality but it didn't, instead the two decided to remain as they were. What I didn't like was in the end, it turned into yaoi/Yuri. It was unexpected and I didn't liked it. For me, I wasn't satisfied with the ending. I

I have really mixed feelings about this whole entire manga. I didn't expect it to go the way it went and I really hated the ending. Spoilers ahead..
Story 6/10: Now... The story I've seen a few time with the how body switching thing and blah blah blah but it's abit different in some parts. The story starts of strong and you thing, wow this is going to be interesting y'know! They're obviously at the end going to realise their feelings and maybe change back into their bodies and live happily ever after right? No. Instead it takes this whole different path to which he falls ... Dec 31, 2021
I thought this to be an interesting manga so did it change?
The stereotypes of changing body has been done more than dozen of times and never failed to entertain me until I found this one. The only good thing about this manga is its art and illustration (bless early 2000 aesthetics) , the mangaka knows how to draw her thing and also being the only reason I continued to read this manga. Basically its about the guy, Akira forced to become a girl after stupid mistakes done by Nanako and her grandfather while the girl Momoi that he changed his body ... Dec 27, 2013
Damn! This is one of a kind! Rarely does any story have borderline yaoi/yuri and still makes me carry on reading.
The Gender Bender genre may be considered weird for many people. But it's definitely not as bad as you think! In fact, it's good! This manga sort of explores forbidden love, trust and friendship. It shows the power of love in this world! This manga is very romantic and has elements of comedy. The storyline is also very interesting. Has anyone actually thought 'what if i switched genders and fell in love with someone?' This manga shows how Momoi and Akira deals with this ... |
