Masterful writing and artwork truly a thing of beauty I'd been a fan of the anime for 7 years now I remember waiting after school for it to air but I never read the manga until now, it's great the manga goes more into detail on Kenya who is my favourite character in this whole thing this is a good starting point to get into Seinen series. All of the characters are well developed and I recommend reading volume nine which goes into detail on Kenyas life and childhood absolute gem of a manga can't give it anything but praise Kayo, Kenya and Satoru are ... so well written especially.

Note off the top: the title's literal translation is "The Town Where Only I am Missing," which is important to keep in mind.

Erased's ending is famously bad, but going into this, I thought that applied only to the anime. While I was wrong, it's not as bad as people say; when your series goes from an easy 10 to a 6, it feels worse than it is. Erased is absolutely still worth the read.

The strength of Erased's early volumes lies with the contrast between the wholesome making friends at school aspect and the intense "let's stop a serial child murderer" aspect, and that the fact ... that the former is a necessary part of accomplishing the latter. Making friends is literally life-or-death. The nostalgic slice-of-life parts had me smiling or laughing, and complemented the slow pacing of the thriller parts incredibly well, making them all the more jarring once they came around. And, of course, these moments make you care about the characters more, making victories sweeter and failures more devastating.

After these early volumes; Erased isn't as good, but it's still very alright. It remains entertaining and still has things to say about failure and starting over, and the influence people have on each other.

I'm not sure if the ending was just rushed or if the mangaka also isn't great at writing epic conclusions. Regardless, an epic conclusion felt out-of-place for Erased, but certainly doesn't ruin it.

In short, Erased is a manga that will undoubtedly attract fans of mysteries and time travel, but certain artistic aspects may make it a difficult read for some. While the story keeps you on edge, the graphic style might not appeal to everyone.

Erased is an intriguing tale that draws readers in from the very first pages with its fascinating plot and original concept. The story of Satoru Fujinuma, who possesses the ability to travel back in time to prevent tragedies, is filled with tension, emotion, and unexpected twists. The "return to the past" motif and the need to solve a murder mystery captivate the reader ... while offering an interesting psychological depth to the characters. The interpersonal relationships, especially between Satoru and Kayo, are well developed, and the unfolding intrigue makes it hard to put the story down.

However, despite its many narrative strengths, the manga's artwork is lacking. The drawing style is unique, which sometimes affects the clarity of visual storytelling. The characters can sometimes appear disproportionate, and some backgrounds are overly simplified, causing the manga to lose readability at times. For many, the visual aesthetics may not meet expectations, which detracts from the reception of an otherwise well-designed story.
