Synopsis

Stunning, hotheaded Asuka Langley Soryu has been friends with Shinji Ikari since they were little. And she always sort of assumed they'd stay together-until the day the beautiful, brilliant Rei Ayanami showed up in class! When Shinji starts to get curious about Rei, Asuka needs to figure out if she wants to be just friends with Shinji, or something more. But why are so many people keeping an eye on these relationships-people like homeroom teacher Misato, school nurse Ritsuko, and Shinji's mother-NERV's chief scientist, Yui Ikari...?

This series has great artwork, but is mediocre in any other category. While the premise seems interesting at first, the series is much closer to fan service vignettes than to anything resembling a plot. We're given brief glimpses of an overarching plot and small moments of conflict, but it all falls into a boring and predictable slog.

Every conflict in the storyline(s) will somehow find a miraculous or coincidental conclusion, regardless of how ridiculous it is. For example: a chapter might start with a conflict similar to the anime, but instead of working to a conclusion, the cast finds a way to save the day read more
