Like the man before, I started to read Jagaaaaaan since his first chapter, it's very great! The draw, the universe is good! It's so cool to see how the mangakas introduce a situation, it's very powerfull and rythmed! You need to read it!

They are such details for faces expressions and the powers of the fractured humans. Such beautiful things in a powerfull manga! Maybe the scenarios is not very "original" because the protagonist need to meet others transformed humans like him but I'm so impatient.

I look forward to seeing how they will look at future arcs and new developments!

so i walked into the bookstore and asked for a seinen recommendation, this was what the store clerk handed me and after reading the first volume i just couldn't stop.

jagasaki is a really relatable character, facing the troubles of the world and learning to get by and live his life, but that doesn't mean it's a fulfilling one. the constant dreams of changing his life around, quitting his job, living an extraordinary life instead of a common one if a really relatable sentiment. as the plot thickens and the world around him changes drastically we get to see him evolve as a person and learn ... to make compromises to be able to reach his goal.

the art is impeccable, which is to be expected of such a well produced seinen. the art really goes well with the story and is pretty clean but messy when it wants to be. the manga does have some gore and nudity that is pretty detailed so if you can't handle these things i don't recommend it, howeverrr if you can handle such things i really recommend it!! the characters are really well written and lovable even in tense situations or fight scenes. it's truly a 10/10 and a really enjoyable reading experience

I've been reading Jagaaaaaan for about 2 years now, and let me tell you, if you're looking for one hell of a premise, interesting protagonist development, questioning your morals, a lot of psycho faces and a buch of weirdos plus an owl, then mate Jagaaaaaan is for you. Worth mentioning the plot has a bit of disturbing scenes such as harass, gore and sex (you'll know if you know). Also worth mentiong there's like 0 censor in this one.

So what sticks out in this manga, is its art, wonderful art throughout the whole work, the somewhat unique ... style and faces set the ambient for a gory and more mature oriented story, it revolves around the inner desires of humans, our strongest desires, our deepest desires, that fracture us ever so slowly.

Jagasaki our protagonist is the very embodiment of this idea, working as cop and being frustrated with his current life, unti an accident happens one day and from there, mate is one hell of a ride.

In Jagaaaaaan story what takes place is a chaotic setting, with lots of gore and morally questioning events using a bit of psychologal aspects to spice it things up a bit, in a rollercoaster of events the development of the protagonist is outstandingly well done.

But what stinks in the history so far, is that it doesn't seem to have a clear path, first we were lead to believe the goal was one thing, then something else, and finally it seems like it acutally settled in a more stable path, though it seemed the same earlier.

Each and every character has unique feelings and vibes, they also fracture in different ways, that's the general idea after all. There are dislikable characters (there's a major hateful one around chapter 20, be advised) and even they, are extremely well done.

The enjoyment in this one is massive, be it the hype for some action scene or just the sheer emotions that can flow or even Doku-chan (our owl) just being wholesome and stupid.

Putting it bluntly, not all might enjoy Jagaaaaaan, but those who enjoy, are in for an awesome ride as the story progresses so does Jagasaki and his understandings of the current situation, as well as the introduction of characters pretty interesting and a lot of action that flows around its gory premise, my score is a strong 9/10 for this one.

Story:Feels a bit like parastyle,with the MC having infected with a unknown parasite frog and is able to shoot monster with his right hand,a bit like shinichi from parastyle,but despite that,it feels different and felt just as good if not better then parastyle, 9/10

Art:Really good art style,the mangaka really put a lot of effort to show the emotion of the characters (plus the plot is just as good if you know what i mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )

Characters:The character does not feel bland at all,even newly intro characters felt really good despite only appearing not for a long time,the MC is really ... good,where he felt really relate able as he struggle to live in life until recently where he got his power. 10/10

Well it's pretty early but I can say that for now, it's very good manga.
ART: The characters are very well drawn and detailed.The artist foces in the eyes of the characters (ecpecialy the main) and it's kinda creepy but the illustrations are so good that you just stare with awe. The art here it's great (anda little bit mature ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) .
CHARACTER: The phychosynthesis of the main character is a little bit strange but with the way he is introduced everything fit right. As for the others we don't know much but for now everyone is matching with the whole atmophare.
STORY: It ... is a good story , for some reason it is rather familiar to me but I enjoy it. The story really reminds me of something. The storyline it's not really what you would call marvelous and thrilling but it fine.

*LONG REVIEW*

Art:


The first half of this manga featured some of the best art I've ever seen in a manga. But the second half really dumbed the art down, things got far less detailed. Probably an issue with time. There were certainly amazing art sometimes in the second half, but there is a clear down-grade. The faces went from circular and unorthodox with creative angles, to angular, orthodox, and generic angles. This reflects the story as well, that I'll touch on in its own section. If the art had kept its amazing standard throughout the entire manga, I'd think it would bump this up to a ... 9/10, rather than the 8/10 this manga is. The art conveys the emotions behind each scene well though. You can feel the disgusting aura from the monsters, you can feel the desperation during action scenes, you can feel the horror of the gore, you can feel the sliminess of the wicked humans, and you can feel the passion in intimate scenes. Perhaps if this was a monthly manga, it would've been able to do all it wanted to do. The character designs were great, the monster designs were quite unique, though some fell into genericity. All in all, I really liked the art, and even in the scenes I didn't, it still managed to invoke emotion. I still much preferred the art and character designs in the first half though.

This manga turned from a Seinen into a Shounen. It went from an interesting exploration into the human psyche and the effects that desire have on everyone, with characters that were morally ambiguous, to an hero story where there is a clear contrast between "good and evil". There are some very interesting and sometimes unique character backgrounds and motivations, however during the second half, things become very generic. Though this manga may revel in tropes and unoriginal ideas by its second half, I think there's still enough original and thought-provoking ideas and setpieces to call it a good story, just not anything revolutionary besides the shift half-way through the manga. Characters are pretty good, had the manga kept to its Seinen roots, I think they would've developed into a very great cast with their own reasons and motivations, rather than everyone being forced to follow the MC on his own selfish journey. Despite the story being about everyone's desires born from being selfish, everyone eventually converges to help the MC, which takes away from what made them so compelling, their selfishness. The erotica makes the world seem more grittier and further increases the reader's relationship with the characters, it is a common tool to use nudity/erotica in a story this way, even if it does feel cheap. But the erotica isn't always... *clears throat*, consensual. So the nudity also increases the tension and the feeling of disgust that comes with a story about giving into desires. The ending was actually good, which is wild considering it's an manga ending and all. It had an adequate amount of time to wrap up the MC's story and the world as a whole, with an interesting twist. However, some characters don't get proper resolutions to their plot lines. The fates of some characters are forgotten about at several points in the manga and in the end. They are mostly minor characters, sure, however, this manga is about selfishness and character relationships. So seeing these people who shaped the major characters not being treated right is annoying.


Powers were also really wishy-washy. While not as bad as "Hell's paradise", "Jagaaan"'s powers are hard to understand and usually just come out of nowhere. Cool, but mostly mindless.


This is a tale of two mangas. One half is a Seinen character study of the human race, and the other half, is a Shounen battle manga where the psychological elements take a backseat. Really, the two halves of the manga are almost the same in terms of plots and fights when you look back on it. So the feeling of a "completed" manga is lost, because there's the beginning of a Seinen manga here, and an ending of a Shounen manga here, both frankensteined together. It's a shame, because they both could've been great mangas in their own right.



Overall:

Jagaaaaan! could've been amazing, but with all its faults, and the declining average quality of the manga as time went on, it remains simply "good", or for me, "great" as I really enjoyed the first half.

Despite me personally ranking this a 8/10, by the last quarter, I was really looking forward to the end. I'd still recommend this to people though, although the second half can really be a dealbreaker for some, that first half is brilliant.

Here's my take after reading 25 fractured chapters of Jagaaaaaan by Muneyuki Kaneshiro (Story) and Kensuke Nishida (Art).

It's seldom that you read something that has heavy influences and inspiration from well-established mangas and makes it work and stand on its own.

Jagaaaaaan has a great premise that made it amusing to read. The story revolves around the protagonist Shintarou Jagasaki a 27-year-old policeman who struggles to contain his frustrations in life at work and at home with his girlfriend. Things turned upside down when a sudden rain of frogs fell down the city and started taking over the city's people turning them into fractured humans whose ... innermost feeling fuels their grotesque transformation and abilities; one being Jagasaki himself.

Although it got most of its concept and ideas from previous manga's like kiseijuu by Hitoshi Iwaaki and Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica by Magica Quartet (Story) and Hanokage (Art), It definitely works and I have enjoyed every chapter.

The art is good and clean, I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it was really cringe-inducing at the first few chapters then it turns into this itchy Trypophobia dealing nightmare. (This manga is not recommended for those who have Trypophobia trust me)

The characters are one-dimensional at first but they slowly improve as each chapter passes; however, they still have a long way to go. I can't help but add that Bell is the most interesting character among its cast and I like her more and more as every chapter passes.

There's a ton of mature content on this manga so I would not recommend this to our young readers.

But I do recommend this to people who have read Kiseijuu or Tokyo Ghoul but do not expect much as I believe this manga is created to primarily entertain which it did well during my read.

With that said, I would give Jagaaaaaan 8 Dung Balls out of 10.

To be honest Jagaaaaan is like nothing I have read ,just the whole frogs falling from the sky thing struck me as unique.
The art style is great, the author real captures human emotion and you can tell what kind of person someone is just by their face. Also, the fight scenes aren't lacking either, there's tonnes of great abilities and seeing them put against each other is honestly a spectacle.
The manga really shows you the harshness of reality and how cruel people can be(sometimes it gets pretty dark).Some people have pretty sad back stories, one to the extent where I found myself sympathising with an ... antagonist.
Jagaaaaan's main character is intriguing, at the start of the manga he's presented as this pshycho "shoot em up" dude but then becomes a bit softer, this didn't bother me but it did turn others off. However, at the manga's current stage i believe the MC isn't like that anymore.
Overall,Jagaaaaan is great and you should definitely check it out.

2021 and this series still constant to its ideals and themes since its first serialization. The amount of hype and action are packing the whole series while the chapters are on going. Its sexual visuals are still implemented by the author. Overall the series is still as hype or more from its first introduction.

Jagaaaaaan has one of the straight-forward scripts I've ever read in a manga (based on English Translation), it doesn't complicate its messages and points, but they are deep and very related. It is full of actions and scenes that are pretty disturbing and lines that are basically for adult readers (it's a ... seinen btw). The characters are fun and not shallow in their viewpoints. It also has a very mature approach in romance in both scenes and visual. Each chapter is enough but at the same time you want to know what's going to happen next. And again, Jagaaaaaan is pretty fast in approach to its stories, but that what's make this series godly, since it is detailed, not overcomplex and pack.

Reading Jagaaaaaan is like eating a very spicy food, it hurts and sometimes disgusting but you will continue to eat it. Pretty good series.

The synopsis does not do this manga justice - who allowed this. Regardless, the most interesting part of the manga is the question of "what will you do to fulfill your desires?" Whether it is the main plot or one of the very intriguing side plots, this question is developed. It is interesting to see how the main character deals with his own idea of justice and how it proceeds to change over time. This manga does not allow blank space to fill the atmosphere, It is thoroughly interesting all the way through. It is enjoyable to see that the side plots can stand on ... their own, even though they are extremely morbid. Jagan is a tragic hero manga with a lot of self-reflecting moments and well paced, easy to follow action.

Apart from the action, and amazing well-drawn fighting scene. This manga also has an interesting love story, a good sense of humour, and uh a lot of nudity which done pretty decent (although some might be considered misogynistic in a way).

All of the character (main and supporting) have some kind of tragic background that made you want to read more and more, my favourite would be the butterfly duo. Another thing about the story is how the author divided two stories of the main and supporting, gradually building them up then connect the dots at one point.

Overall, it's a pretty good manga, looking ... forward to the climax, and hoping it has 200+ chapters or 300+ would be nice.

I don't know what to think about jagaaan, it started off pretty well but it has lost a lot of narrative strength as the chapters go by, I don't know if it's because the mangaka has given more importance to his other manga, but it seems like a good manga, it's nothing great but it's good to pass the time.
History: its story is enough, it has a more or less clear path but it does not go further, there is no risk in this one, its structure is very similar to gantz, a series of "missions" that must be completed to reach a certain point.
Characters: ... The truth at the beginning I had some expectation in Jagasaki, but as time went by it was simplified so to speak, it was not so much a redemption in his character arc if not rather his own problems were left aside, although it still does not end it can improve, as for the other characters some are very good and others not so good, it has its ups and downs.
Art: It's very inconsistent, sometimes it looks like something made by Kentaro Miura and other times it looks like something made by One.

I enjoyed this manga in a way I haven’t for most in a long time. I don’t know if I just have a proclivity towards edgy slock but by god when it’s done well it never bores me. If there is one thing I enjoy about this manga after reading all 116 chapters of it is the surprising amount of heart that is etched into every single moment. A ton of time and energy is devoted to the development of interpersonal relationships, establishing full arcs within these dynamics setting the stage for some real emotionally tragic and cathartic moments. As the series continues we spend ... a lot of time with each character spending time to flesh out even characters that aren’t our main characters but they still service the purpose of the plot of the arc giving a real sense of chaos. The concept of people’s desires and the strength of human conviction is a welcome one and is an element of the story that very much flies in the face of Japanese cultural norms. Drawing on the human desire to escape mundanity. I’ve seen a lot of detractors from the series claim that the plot is messy and chaotic. But within the context of the narrative it services the purpose of conveying the chaotic consequences of human desire. All throughout the story we are met with tons of morally complicated situations that challenge our main character really helping us to understand his development. He’s a pretty unlikable character at the beginning but the fact that the story seeks to explore individuals like this and their growth shows a real heart to the series. It’s a story that struck very close to me at moments and helped me to pause a moment and to think about the lives and perspectives I’ve otherwise would’ve overlooked. Yes it’s not original in anyway but it doesn’t cease to have an impact with its consistently entertaining nature. Truly a series worth consideration!

Fast Review

Story '7' - Not that original of a premise, but the situations that happens and the author's story telling and script of the story makes up for it.

Art '8' - Had very top quality arts at the start. The quality became more simple but still good, as the story goes on with fight scenes happening more frequently. (This is a good change since the simpler art makes it more easy to see what is happening in the fight scenes)

Character '9' - The best part of the story imo, the author really made the cast's actions feel realistic and interesting with the monologues each character ... gets.

Tldr: Good read if you're looking for an action apocalypse manga that has realistic characters, great/neat art and a story that goes all out not without any censoring and when i say "without" i mean "NONE".

Jagaaaaan is a very inconsistent read, it starts out really bad and then takes a huge leap in quality. Let's do it by steps:

The characters have different approaches in each moment of the manga and this affects the quality. Initially, the first 50 chapters, they are cartoonish and not very interesting because it is so exaggerated that it is difficult to create any connection although it can be justified by the frantic frogs bringing people to their extreme... The author realizes that this exaggeration breaks the connection with the reader and creates a kind of toad that brings about the transformation of people in a ... more metaphorical way, giving more substance to the situation.
It is at this moment, from chapter 50 onwards, that it is really good to follow the characters. Chiharu, Nomu, Mikazuchi are all great characters for charisma and their drama. Especially Chiharu who is a great character with a chaotic energy that involves everyone in a good or bad way.

The protagonist, Jigasaki, starts out pretty boring to follow. After all, as the story begins quite exaggerated, it also affects the MC since he has a shallow motivation that makes it uninteresting to follow.
That said, when the story takes its quality turn, he also grows as a character. His motivations gain questioning, new perspectives and even a shock of reality to make it less simplistic, having in the end a very natural consequence that surprises at the same time.

The story is the most complicated part of the work. It really starts off bad, everything is very exaggerated and caricatured, leaving nothing that could be interesting... It doesn't have a theme being built, a mystery or clear motivation that makes you want to continue.
In that sense, everything really changes after the 50th chapter, it's as if the author realized he wasn't going anywhere and decided to restructure his entire story. The core of the story matures and understands the potential that your idea can bring if it works well, there are great moments that give the story a lot of strength, especially the story of the porcupine and the caterpillar boy, which has an ending that is very emotional! Unfortunately, in its final stretch, the work declines due to being too long, but it still manages to be good and close well.

The art is splendid. The action panels are amazing and there are several breathtaking moments that leave many moments of outstanding action.

Anyway, Jagaaaan is a manga that starts very badly, but improves immensely with time. In its final stretch there is a decline, but it still maintains traces of quality and the finish is good enough.

what can I say? this is the first manga that has hooked me in such a way, I do not have an eloquent way of expressing how I enjoyed it, so i will just say this, I cannot pretend to fully comprehend or relate to the MC, or claim to understand the full message conveyed through the story, but what i can say is that each panel is filled with passion, and the arcs that I have read so far add so much more depth to the charaters than you would ussually find in other mangas of the same genre, it it truly a gem, ... while it is gory and mature at times, it (in my humble opinion), adds to the story (though I enjoy gory manga).
I truly reccomend it, it is a rollercoaster of moral grey area after moral grey area.

As of writing this review, I'm still reading the manga but it's very unique to me. It's the first manga where I truly think of the impact the art style has on the story and mood. Usually I value art for its' beauty and all that, but the way the faces/expressions are drawn really set the tone and flavor of the entire series.
For example, if a different artists was to draw the series, I would 100% bet that the series would feel completely different. What catches my attention the most is, how to me, the protag's smile actually seem very genuine from the style, especially ... with how the eyes show emotion while he's supposedly "faking" it. To the point even if I'm deep into the story and his monologue, I find it hard to believe how he can be so radically different from the persona he presents to the world/like his internal monologue doesn't match his very being.
The faces are also very exaggerated in general, which gives off a funny tone too. There's also kindness in many od them despite this, which can also give a very pleasant shock (won't spoil too much, but the MC has a rival. And his face is such a contradiction, imo, to his view of life)

Also, it's very intense and dark. I frequently wonder id the writer made every single character a self insert in a way. Even if the main character's old high school classmate was one.

Jāgan is a decent manga. The art is spectular and Jagasaki eerily grotesque, yet still fire transformations never cease to amaze me.The ending kinda felt rushed cause the author seemed like he wanted to focus on blue lock.

The 'This is my life' spread page is one of my favourite moments in animanga. The plot was OKAY right up until the Nomen arc, which is straight up trash. Felt rushed and uninspired.

My favourite character has to be Mikazuchi and his backstory was pretty heartfelt.The Deaderland arc rules because Pino was a great antagonist.

Overall Jāgan was a good experience with a rough ending, but will ... always have a place in my heart.

TL;DR - Edgelords rejoice, this manga a Head-empty Horror-fest, Sci-fi Shoot-em-up, Fan-service Fever dream from start to climax! er.. i mean Finish.

Jagaaaaaan is weird, and it's hard to tell whether it's trying to be a dark story similar to Ajin or Chainsaw Man, or whether it's trying to be something else. I think this is the how the authors felt as well, as there are many indications early on for setting up plots and characters that just never seem to go anywhere or fizzle out a bit (or a lot). There is still plenty to enjoy here.

The opening chapters do a great job of establishing ... an unconventional main character that seems like he will have interesting character development, and he does, but it doesn't quite feel like it was earned or really made any logical sense. I actually had to go back a couple times and look at the beginning chapters to make sure this is the same character and the same artist drawing him. While I could enjoy a main character that switches personalities for the sake of making fun of mainstream media which does this all the time, this manga suffers from the sin of taking itself a bit to seriously, especially considering the events and the premise of the story. There are times where this manga needs to give a wink or a nod to the reader that these characters are NOT acting normal and we should NOT take them seriously, but it doesn't do that, and the result can feel confusing at best and downright endorsing despicable and disgusting acts of violence at the worst.

It should be noted that there's A LOT of "adult" content in this manga, to the point of feeling like a straight up H doujinshi. The way it treats the scenes and presents them can also be hugely problematic. Female characters simply do not exist in this manga outside of being an object of desire or a tragic/abusive mother/daughter figure for a male character to draw motivation from. Some people might not care about that, or take a message away that these are bad things, but undoubtedly some will go away thinking not only is nothing wrong with this, but may even be envious of some of the most evil characters ever penned to manga which I find disturbing to say the least.

On the plus sides I find the characters to be highly entertaining for the most part, the art is very good and reminds me of I Am a Hero, the plot is quite simply good enough for what it needs to be, there are a decent number of humorous moments, and the action scenes really shine and carry the series. Unfortunately it suffers from pacing issues, and while it subverts many tropes it also falls pray to just as many and doesn't seem very aware of this fact all the way until the completely corny and unearned ending, that even sets up a potential sequel in the most cliché way possible. Worth checking out for sure, but you may not finish it and that's okay.
