"Takopii no Genzai" is a deeply psychological and often dark drama. It's a series that will likely leave you with a heavy heart, but it's also a powerful exploration of human nature, resilience, and the fragile pursuit of happiness in a world that often seems devoid of it. If you're looking for an anime that will make you think and feel, even if it's uncomfortable, "Takopii no Genzai" is undoubtedly worth continuing. Be warned, though: this journey into the "original sin" of humanity is a harrowing one, but it promises to be unforgettable |

Woke up, only thing on my mind today was wanting Marina and her mother brutally murdered, what’s wrong with me? I derived tremendous pleasure from today’s episode and left with a smile in my face. Great way to end the 4th of July seasonals.
I’m sorry, I tried to have sympathy for Marina but I just can’t. Yea she got abused, yea her mother and father are pieces of shit who should die, but ultimately your actions are your own. A lot of mfs get abused at home and don’t go try to kill people, get people’s dogs killed and all the other nasty shit she did. Shit, I know a few of em myself, they’d act out in class and maybe say some wild shit on Xbox live, but Marina’s actions were repeatedly and consistently horrific. She was irredeemable and seeing Takopi take her life made me happy.
Speaking of which, I was about at my breaking point with Takopi because his refusal to accept how horrible Marina was and how she’s never going to change no matter how many times he loops was making me so angry. And the fact he just let Shizuka go off into the forest with her and get her ass beat while he’s daydreaming about this being a fucking magical girl show and them making up. About time he realized he’s a fucking alien and can help defend Shizuka. Running from a bully won’t change them, punching them in the mouth will.
Also we finally saw Shizuka’s mom who, as you can imagine, is a piece of shit too. You wearing nice clothes and earrings and ya daughter ain’t got nothing to eat, wearing rags and living at home by herself. Didn’t even make eye contact with her or ask how her day went. All the parents need to die in a car accident. Since they all wanna be messy and prioritise sex over their own kids, let em burn to death.
Idk man this show brings the inner dark and twisted out of me which is a testament to how well written it is. I’m guessing this episode had a different director than the first too because the direction was noticeably different, no letterboxd effect either. Can’t wait to see how things go with no more do overs.

So, I went into this show blind. I only knew it was sad, so when I saw the PSA at the beginning of ep. 1 I said to myself "oh, that kind of sad". But I wasn't expecting anything I saw in ep. 1 and especially 2. It's gut-wrenching. I think I never felt like this before, with an anime. This is honestly difficult to watch. I want to know what happens next, but at the same time I dread the next episode. I'm happy it's only a 6 ep. show. I couldn't bear a full season like this, and it's still to be seen if I'm strong enough to handle the next 90 minutes. I'm not so confident. EDIT: all the adults in this show are pieces of sh*t. All of them. Shizuka's mom, Marina's parents, the teachers. All of them. I want to punch the screen every time I see their lifeless face and I hear their f*cking voice. Man, I hate them all. Because THIS is 100% their fault. |

Welp, Marina died. It's kinda uncomfortable people are happy she's dead, and I can understand why at least, but is no one gonna talk about her piece of sh*t dad and Shizkuka's mom? In my opinion those two are the real villains of the story.
Good episode once again. I'm excited to see where we go from here. 5/5

Bro that’s what I’m saying!!! It is so freaking disturbing and psychotic that people are celebrating a child dying
@Willhelm23 The moment you decide to harm other human beings your human rights are voided. If entire planet finally noticed that, Earth would be a better place. She stopped being a child the moment she chose violence. Good riddance. |

Man this episode got me really conflicted, on one hand marina is just awful and cruel but on the other hand... she is in like what 3rd or 4th grade? her horrible behavior is a product of her neglectful and abusive mother who takes all her frustrations on her. don't get me wrong she 100% deserved to have something happen to her after inflicting all of that pain and suffering on another human being but... death? idk man seems like a bit too much. im curious to see where the story could go next with takopi's time machine being broken and all. |

@Marinate1016 You're talking about a child who's lashing out the way she is because her family has been broken apart by Shizuka's mother being an escort who Marina's father is cheating on her mother with. You're talking about a child who has faced constant abuse and lashing out from their mother as the sole person in the house for her to take her despair out on because of their failing marriage. She's a CHILD. Of course her actions are inexcusably cruel but instead of looking at the greater picture and rightfully blaming the adults for the way she is, you're cheering that a CHILD was killed. When the story goes out of it's way to show how abuse is a cycle and that Marina is the way she is because in her eyes Shizuka and her family are the reason why her household is broken and why she gets abused daily it's INCREDIBLY wild that you're kicking your feet gleefully over her death as if she were a generic fist of the north star mook. It might do you good to take a step back in recognising despite this being a cartoon it's covering a very real topic that's happening to more children today than it ever should. Stay classy MAL, lmao. At the very least this show's doing a good job at bringing to the surface signs in people that mark they really shouldn't have or be around kids. |

There's alot in this episode that can be said, but one thing is for sure, its not maria-chan's fault. That's VERY obvious. But yet the tale must go on without reconciliation, and the antagonistic character is left out to dry. A villain? Sure, if that character had INSANE plot against everyone in the show, but no, its just the one. This episode might be a cliff hanger that has tugged my AOT strings. 9.5/10 - episode 5/5 - sound track 5/5 - ending track 5ml/10ml - tears cried P.S. I hate how obliviously optimistic takopi is. It sort of blind sided me in episode one where I left myself believe the pink creature's delusions for the sake of suspense of belief. Anyway, cant wait to cry more next week! |

@Willhelm23 Nah, knowing self defence is not enough. Self defence is there to just not get harmed during the attack. The lesson is when kid tells me X is bulying him. Then the bullying party will see how fun bullying is when its done by someone 5 times their size. One smack to the face and they will be amazing members of society. people here don't even know how the world and human nature works... prime example of dehumanization first of all both deserves better life . it's not just Marina's fault...she's also going through hardship... watching your family falls apart for a hoe in front of your eyes is not easy and the fact is they are in 4th grade means probably 9 years old ..she can't comprehend the reality...she blames shizuka for this ..it's not ok but it's also doesn't mean marina deserves death...now think what Marina's mother will go though...your husband is hoeing around and your child ,only support she had... what takopi did is not ok ...he will surely pay for this when he understands what he did ..all the happy gadets is using for bad things .... |

Bennet3214 said: @Cestlavie_ It's purely a speculation, but I think that's how the mangaka and the staff wanted the audience to react. It was the amount of contrast with what happened and in what tone that was represented. Takopi literally just bludgeoned a freaking child to death, resulting in a pool of blood and the corpse is now staring into oblivion. And what happens after that? A happy enthusiastic cheerful music starts playing, the color palette brightens, and the main character starts jumping and squealing with joy. The contrast between the gravity of the situation and how "happily" it is represented is just too much, that I think it will squeeze out laughter from almost anyone. I guess that's one way to look at it, but I'm not really sure they wanted the audience to laugh at the end, more like shocked, I'm not sure |

I get that Marina is just a child and her family doesn't help, but I don't care. The only reason I don't feel satisfied with what happened to her is because of Chappy, I would prefer for Chappy to be safe and sound, but I do want Marina's ending to be just that. I honestly believe having problems never justify acting in certain ways, not even for a child. |

Thank god that bitch is dead. She was a piece of shit. Ngl that shit made me so happy. Justice served Also fuck the mom too. She’s just as evil as the rest of them. How could she blame Shizuka when Marina went out of her way to get bitten? Why didn’t anyone ask Shizuka her side of the story? Chappy was only trying to defend Shizuka, he was a good boy until the very end. Rip Kinda crazy that Takopi just casually killed someone though. Does that make him a criminal? |

Thank goodness she got what she had coming to her. But wow, there's some unreasonable people in this forum. It is normal and healthy to want to see evil-doers punished for their crimes and receive justice, as finally happened in this episode. It's called having a normal sense of justice (even if the justice was achieved sloppily and un-ideally). Her death wasn't even particularly painful or drawn out, so she got off easy. Marina chose to do the most heinous things I've ever seen in an anime and earned all the bad karma she ended up receiving back. Stop defending her by saying she's a child. She was old enough to know how evil her actions were (I knew better when I was 9) and, if caught by the police, she probably should've been tried as an adult. She wasn't an ordinary innocent girl turned evil by abuse. She shows signs of being a literal psychopath one step away from committing murder herself. And speaking of that, please stop using the word "murder" for what happened to Marina. Some of you don't know what the word means. Murder requires intent (Takopii didn't intend it at all as it was an accident) and also a lack of justification (Takopii's actions are easily considered self-defense and therefore justified to protect Shizuka against death/serious injury). Call it homicide or manslaughter I guess, but it objectively wasn't a murder. |

I’m sorry but so many of the comments are soo messed up, what the actual heck. I know what Marina did was wrong, but celebrating her death is so messed up, it’s actually psychotic to wish and celebrate that on a child dying. Instead of blaming Marina have you even thought about the adults in this situation? That’s who you should be blaming, the teacher for not intervening on the bullying, shizuka’s mom for never being there for her, and literally destroying the marriage in Marinas family, if shizukas mom actually cared about her she would stop that business. Marinas mom isn’t even really there for her, she’s just a total mess at the moment, which I don’t really blame her for, the situation she’s in is horrible. Marinas dad is an absolute horrible dead beat father, and he uses the excuse of providing for his family to cheat on his wife, how scummy is that, and Shizuka’s father is dead beat as well. All that being said, blaming Marina and hoping she dies is completely messed up, I don’t like her either, but I would never wish for a child to die?!? it’s the adults that are at blame for her behavior, not the child.
@Willhelm23 I agree with you... But Marina really wants to kill the other "child". And we are in a scene that we need to choice who gonna die, Marina or Shikuza... And Takopi choice (without know the consequences) the right choice. I know its "immoral"... And It can be hard to asimilate. But the life is hard... If you were in Shizuka situation you would love to have a Takopi that kill tha monster that horror you. |

Well I didn't see that coming. I know Marina is terribly cruel but at same time I get she is young (though not so young she cant be held accountable) and acting out because how her home life is but I do feel sorry for her getting outright killed. It's the other classmates who go along with her bullying I think are crueler if they dont have their own reasons. I think Shizuka is in a bit of a delusional state of shock. While in one way she does feel relief she's trying not to sink in what occurred and how people will be looking for Marina. Though I did laugh at how happy she was over it while also feeling sad that she was so tormented it made her feel that happy. |

There isn't good academic evidence teachers intervening does enough good, it can actually make things worse sometimes. Basically the bully gets mad at being told off. Only has any effect on one side if it is something like on legal level but Japan the age of criminal accountability isnt until 14 years old. But even then criminal systems dont fix people's behavior. Also cant really just talk to a bully and fix things since like portrayed here many cases are result of home life. So it is quite a bit to resolve such things. look at the whole picture. Everyone here is placed in these circumstances. Shizuka's mom while she is a bit distant acting, maybe cant find any other work. Also Shizuka's mom is not responsible for Marina's dad being stressed from work and in an unhappy marriage and seeking a sense of affection elsewhere with her, she may not even knew he was married and because it is how she makes money she can't turn him down anyway when he is her main client. Though he is spending too much time away from his daughter. Supposedly oddly enough lot of Japanese women (or at least in Tokyo) are fine with their guy seeing an escort if they dont have feelings for them so it seems to me implied he has feelings for her. So the mother isn't so much upset he is cheating but that he's falling out of love with her. Shizuka's dad lives further away (though how far idk) and likely only at most has visitation rights since Japan didnt allow joint custody in divorce until mid 2024. Though yeah he probably should be seeing her at least once a week or two since I doubt he is so far he cant do that much. Marina's mom while she also has her reasons would be the worst one, since Marina has no connection to any of this but presumably her mom takes it out on her and physically at that as it seems implied from Marina wanting her dad so much and how she seems to act around her mom and her bruised cheek. |

I mean, why wouldn’t she be happy? Imagine your life is constantly tormented by this one thing for years and finally this source of torment is gone. It seems pretty understandable to me, especially putting myself in her shoes. But I can understand why from an outside perspective it can be perceived that way too.

@Victorsanime Bro she's a child, don't compare her to an adult. It's just psychologically unnatural for her to be THAT happy at that scene. The most realistic response of a normal child seeing a person they hate DYING in front of them is either they would be really confused or traumatized cuz A PERSON DIED. The only conclusion is that Shizuka is kinda messed up in the head and not normal since ofc she went through the most horrific things. Watch as the next few episode Shizuka would not be your average nice girl, I can feel it. But ofc who knows, I haven't read the manga, but people who read it said that Shizuka is going to not be a normal girl (not a spoiler cuz this episode showed she's not normal). |
