You have a large wood for the summer season? That sounds funny. Doesn't make sense.

The middle was not bad but kind of a drag, but the first few episodes and the end here made the series still a relatively solid one. Good adaptation as a whole.

Trash. Waste of time nothing story. Terrible MC seiyu (guy ruins every anime he's in for me).
Emotionless robots with inside monologues about feelings. Got in love while eating at the table cause they hardly did anything interesting together. Really low energy anime with plenty of stills to save the budget. There wasn't even any noteworthy secondary character. Just numb duo talking about... things.
Maybe this type of melancholy story telling works in manga/LN but as anime it was painful drag.

To be honest, by episode 12, I feel that the studio hasn't really done a complete job. In the previous episodes, like episodes 10 and 11, the developments made it very difficult for the two characters to come together. And in episode 12, it doesn't fully explore or add the necessary details to build the characters' emotions. By the end of episode 12, I thought they had realized their feelings and were ready to face them, but in reality, they hadn't, which left me confused and disappointed. The supporting characters also weren't developed perfectly; they just appeared to give some lessons to the main characters and then disappeared. However, overall, this series is quite new to me, and it brings a lot of emotions and reflections about this world
8/10.

Looks like it has other meanings. Your point did get across to me. So it wasn't technically pointing a mistake out.

Didn't enjoy the anime as much as the LN. The animation felt kinda low budget and here I was expecting them to do a much better job with Hiten-sensei being the main illustrator for the LN. They also didn't properly adapt many scenes from the LN which is inevitable for a 12 episode adaptation but it does lower the enjoyment level.

Regardless, I'm glad one of my favorite LN got an anime adaptation. Not to mention they did a good job adapting the last scene of episode 12. It felt kinda bittersweet with all the tears and dialogue in the anime, but in the LN we learn from Saki's diary that she was over the moon when Yuuta confessed his feelings haha.

Top to end, a boring story animated/directed well.. entire premise is milking 2 characters made for each other but can't be together for xyz..

W.e I'm glad they were willing to be honest with eachother at the end. Sad the side characters were seemingly only used as plot devices.. but w/e, not a bad 1s ending

Yes, maybe at the end of the previous episode, they seemed to start becoming siblings in general. But in fact, Saki's feelings for Yuta, and vice versa, haven't faded. They still like each other, even though they know that they shouldn't like their brothers/sisters, even though they are just step-siblings.

Ah... in the end, Yuta actually confessed to Saki, but looks like he got siblingzoned. I'm sure that Saki also has the same feelings for him, however they don't want to cause problems for their parents. Therefore, their way out is to become more "supportive" brothers and sisters, you could say.

I was dreading the usual "go read the light novels" ending, but I think they pulled off a satisfying conclusion here.

Also the soundtrack is gorgeous but I fear it's gonna be thrown on the pile of shows like Shikimori that never get an official OST release.

I enjoyed this anime a lot, very impressive especially considering that it's the first time for the director and music composer they did an amazing job.
On an ending note, some people say that this ended in a bittersweet tone but I don't agree, from my understanding they admitted their feelings for each other and are going to start dating, however as Saki said in front of their family they will continue brother and sister.

Hopefully, we get a season 2 to see how their relationship develops further now that they are dating.
For those wanting more, It is important to know that the light novels sold almost 1 million copies ever since the anime started airing which is an amazing boost in sales especially when considering that it's light novels and not manga. (this sales data was provided by the author on Twitter/X)

Overall I would rate this a 9/10, very, very impressive work by the director.

@vault-dweller The anime adapted 4 volumes of the light novel. And volume 12 is scheduled to be released next month. So, there's enough content for more than 2 seasons. As you can see from the volume number, the anime adaptation is quite rushed. The LN is far superior in quality when compared to the anime.

The first 4 volumes were basically like a build-up to their confession and from the next volume onwards the real story begins. Their relationship is so sweet and wholesome that I often found myself grinning like an idiot while reading the LN. And it gets better and better each volume. Most people won't expect something of this quality just from the weird title of this series. But after reading it, I'm pretty sure many would list this LN among one the best romance series they have read. I highly recommend the LN to any fans of the romance genre. Fair warning tho, it can sometimes get so sweet that you might have to go take a blood test for diabetes. Might as well stock up some insulin before reading the later volumes haha.

Exceptional from start to finish; an example of uncompromising quality, focus, and passion for the art of animation/story telling. This has been a true pleasure.

I feel I came away with a lot after having watched this show. And it's serving me as a reminder of why I love Manga and Japanese Animation.

Lets hope for a 2nd go around for this series.

I am so happy I watched this show till the end.
Both of the characters acted REALLY mature for their age, and both knew their situation very well.

The ending of episode/show couldn't be better in my opinion, they both know it's though, and that it's restricted love, and they finally showed those feelings to one another, but they will carry the "weight" together atleast...
I'm rooting for these two, I hope their future is bright πŸ™πŸ»

Ah so the talk with the professor in the previous episode slowed things down by making Saki wonder what kind of love the two of them are thinking. Can't have them get together too fast (assuming it even ends that way) or no more content I guess. I did like this series overall even if these two frustrated me at times. A much more serious romance show for what the concept is, no nonsense fanservice or comedy here. There were times that the slow pacing was too slow, a whole scene of Saki being taught how to interpret novels for a Modern Lit class really tried my patience for instance. Still I appreciated a more "realistic" take on this situation and I like the fact that there was a confession (of sorts) and that the season ended with forward momentum. I think 7/10 is a good rating for me, will watch a S2 if its made certainly.

Really impressed with the intimacy of the finale and the tactful acknowledgement that this is a complicated a.f. situation to be in. Even if it didn't have the most excitement (some moments in previous episodes were a downright slog to get though), for the maturity alone it ended up being a worthwhile watch overall.

What a complete waste of time. Between the leads that cant emote, the constant background slideshow, and so many out of frame shots, all you'd need is some dutch angles and it'd be in Shyamalan territory. Actually that's unfair to Shyamalan who at least has plots to his movies. This is just sill frames and a lot of nothing happening. I want to thank the forums for at least giving me a few laughs between episodes otherwise I would have never made it past ep4.

@AngelofFrost Mmm, if it is even remotely close to the LN of Roshidere, I might give it a try~

@aurora_yuuki Both works have their own charm. Roshidere is more of a well executed rom-com while Gimai Seikatsu is leaning more towards a pure slice of life wholesome romance with realistic relationships with friends and family. As someone who have read both light novels, personally I think Gimai Seikatsu is straight up better than Roshidere in terms of writing and storytelling. Even though reading works like Roshidere is highly entertaining, it's just that I've seen too many similar rom-coms that it's lacking the novelty aspect I'm looking for.

I really like the unique way of storytelling in Gimai Seikatsu. The author specifies exact dates for each event that takes place in the lives of our protagonists and the same events are told from the perspectives of Yuuta and Saki separately. This way we get a glimpse at the inner thoughts and emotions of both of them and as readers we can literally feel them slowly getting closer as time goes on. There's also the diary entries where they write down their raw feelings and reading them is pure sweetness overload. And finally this series is blessed with the spectacular artworks of the ever brilliant artist Hiten-sensei. All the LN illustrations are of top-notch quality. You can go check out his twitter or pixiv profile to get a glimpse of his outstanding talent. Here are the links if you're interested: X, pixiv

I think I got a bit carried away with my reply haha. In short, Roshidere got the better anime adaptation and I enjoyed it more than Gimai Seikatsu anime. But imo, Gimai Seikatsu light novel is way better than Roshidere LN. If you plan on reading it, I would recommend you to start from the beginning even if you've watched the anime as they skipped a lot to content related to their relationships with their friends and colleagues. Although volume 1 is kinda meh and nothing to write home about, it starts getting better from volume 2 onwards. Volume 3 is very well written with a bittersweet conclusion and volume 4 is absolutely amazing as you can guess from how the anime ended. As for volume 5 and onwards it gets so sweet that diabetes inducing might be a good way to describe the following volumes :3

I think I kinda ended up writing a review lol. Hope this helps!

Worst anime of the season that somehow has better ratings than better anime. How and why did people like this anime so much? I can't recall an episode that I didn't start dozing off. Nothing happened overall and the conversations between Saki and Yuta were insignificant, and yet people still call this shit peak? Most of the animation was reused or shittily drawn figures with no faces, and extremely simple backgrounds because the animators were lazy. As an example, in timestamp 18:42, Saki's eyes are comically huge. In each episode, there were so many moments when nothing was said, it was unbearable.

I mean is everyone a psychoanalyst in this anime? The black haired girl thought Yuta wanted to fuck her, talk about being self-centered and narcissistic. She called everyone useless including Yuta lmao. When did he say he didn't have faith in women? She somehow fell for Yuta despite her doing all the talking while Yuta was in another world, that's funny. She truly thinks "I can fix him"

You can't call this mature when the two leads couldn't convey their feelings for the entirety of this anime. When Yuta finally confused his feelings, Saki kept trying to change the vibe to "as siblings" nah bro, don't be stupid. You know exactly what he means. At one point she felt the same way but is now denying how she truly feels. It was stupid how she said, I'll be jealous but as a sibling. It's so damn frustrating.

On god, most of the people who are saying this is peak cinema are new anime watchers, it's killing me. Please consume better anime before calling this shit peak. I mean this anime was so boring that I had to watch it at 1.5x speed. Well, either way, I'm glad this shit is over. I highly doubt I'll watch the second season.

Very slow going but I still enjoyed it. I just don’t understand why Saki didn’t express her feelings towards Yuta. I thought she’d be like I feel the same way but instead she was just saying that his feelings might be as that as a sibling and not romantic. She might be right considering she never had a reliable male in her life and he didn’t have a reliable female in his life. Still it would have been better if she didn’t keep her true feelings hidden.

Still in love with the haircut she got. I know it was a few episodes ago but she looks so much cuter.

The random chill tall girl changed the course of this anime lol xD

Poor senpai; we veterans knew from the start that for her this would be platonic love.

Slow paced but I think they did conduct this well and the development was there. Adding elements such as a bit of tension and uncertainty at the slow paced scenes didn't make this unbearable boring.

I think this was a good anime for what it wanted to be.
