This episode got weird. A talking hand...but it looks like Lloyd is able to use it to his advantage.

Speaking of this kid, it looks like he's adapting with his abilties pretty quickly. Almost impressive in a way. Comedy is still protrayed in a cartoony style that I doubt will change any time soon. Definitely an overemphasis on Lloyd though. He takes up the most screen time while the female cast looks like goofballs, such as Tao.

man applying marital arts to magic is quite unique i never heard of using qi with mana i have to wonder what kind of things can he achieve now

anyway his body double has a mind of his own though showed in a skit could have huge implications and that martial arts girl gives me the creeps how old is she if she trained for 18 years on top of that she is unknowingly hitting on a kid

Man, Tao vs Orcs sequence is so satisfying to watch. The animation continue to be one of this series stronger aspects

Got more worldbuilding in this episode, the magic system is certainly interesting, the magic stack result has insane implication for sure.

Its just as unhinged as i remember the manga being.
love it

@Stark700 its whole stick is Lloyd getting his daily fix of magic research with various ppl getting dragged along for a short while. So yeah, this story doesn't really have a supporting cast ๐Ÿคฃ

The magic spell visual effects were real pretty again. Lloyd gets the hang of things very easily but it's probably due how much time he spends researching new things. New girl is amusing but need more Sylpha.

I love how this is not a regurgitated run-of-the-mill power fantasy with no substance, but there are plenty of creative choices that make this world actually interesting and keep you from knowing what Lloyd might do next.

@Kamquat420 The magic system and the protagonist's academic-level obsession is interesting so I'm pretending that's a 30 year old woman with dwarfism and a very flat chest...๐Ÿ˜ฎ‍๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜‘

wow, i didn't expect this would be better then i thought, i mean i am a huge sucker for isekai, reincarnated or regression type animes / mangas. this was better then most of reincarnation animes I have seen ,it's good and has comedy, i actually like that cartoon type comedy more and action scenes are just very good,i didn't expect that.

over all a very good episode, I wanna continue this.

The animation and colors are good, and also really like the OST, i hope they can maintain the quality until the end.

The next episode will adapt some of my favorite panels in the manga, i hope they can adapt it well like this episode.

Hard to say if Tao is best girl because there's a lot of great girls in this show, but it was cool to see her animated.

I liked the half way point and post credit scenes. I don't think they were in the manga? At least I can't remember them. It's been a while.

@pansz fair on Lloyd, but we all agree that Grim is PEAK, right?

I am honestly 100% watching this show for Grimoire and for the maid. Grimoire is one of my favorite mascot characters I ever saw in an anime, cause he just looks so great in all of his designs. (Spoiler he’s
.But as for the one’s we’ve met so far, the true form is so badass, kinda looks like a monster from Hollow Knight who fused with a Zoroark.
And then there’s the mascot form which is honestly way better than most other mascots I’ve seen in modern anime. Sadly it seems that outside of video games, mascot designs have really gone downhill and are super simple and boring, like the mascot from Magical Destroyers who is ugly. But Grim is so much of a breath of fresh air and badass. His design is actually detailed and mad expressive. And his personality and role in the story is hilarious, I love how he is second guessing himself, unsure if every action he takes is part of his “master plan” or if he’s just becoming a wet blanket.

This is OP on fucking steroids. What's the conflict supposed to be? He's just awesome at everything. Doesn't struggle with anything.
It's not even funny it's just annoying. He's just smug and annoying.
Whole thing looks like animated in a graphics program by AI.

HOLY SHIT the art and animation for when Lloyd was using the double multi stacked spell incantation was fucking AMAZINGGG bro blew a hole into the fucking sky…THE SKY!!! Like I’ve never seen an isekai MC do that before bro like the shit was crazy to me๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Tao vs the orcs had some nice ass animation bro like what is it with this studio and being consistent and they’re a brand new studio with only 2 shows under their belt so this is impressive to me ngl

Tao gotta be my favourite girl as of rn in this show I love her attitude and her ball twin tails she’s got on her head and she’s SO fucking cute man + home girl got ASS, I couldn’t stop staring at it every time her ass was on the screen๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Lloyd is such a battle/magic freak man I love it can’t wait for the next episode with the Lich and see what it can do and how Lloyd can defeat it๐Ÿคฉ

It's important to clarify something. I haven't committed to continuing to watch this through to completion yet, but I have seen the first two episodes, and it's not isekai. I created a thread topic on this very sub-forum asking just that as it was an easy assumption to make before going into it, but when you see the way the story is set up in the first few minutes of the first episode, you'll realize that, yes, it does involve reincarnation, yet there is no isekai factor involved.

@LeenPhoenixRae I'm thinking about the same as Llyod does when he realizes that Tao is actually 12-13 (situation is for comedic purposes only - if this turns out to be spoiler, I have no idea of it at this time /disclaimer).

The way Lloyd series is syncing with the manga already able to use grim as a talking hand to perform two spells at once

He’s learning fast with his thirst for knowledge on magic and the comedy very toon like especially when he’s in a like “what the heck” expression
Then the females have started showing now we are graced with the martial artists presence “Tao”

Question is why is he Overpowered if all he wants to do is learn and learn and have no interests in world building or battle conquest

Nice episode, I fell in love with Tao she's super cute and fun, hope she will stay for longer than the dungeon.
That being said, it's nice to see a new form of power, I don't mind that protag is a genius that gets it so quickly.
Next week ep seems to be quite hype, potentialy seeing Lloyd being a badass (but also please, let Tao shine).

The Replica slapping Lloyd in the post credit scene and the moon getting scared lol.

Ok, this is coming from someone who loves and is up to date with the Manga adaptation, and I gotta say, I'm mixed with how they are adapting this, particularly with a few changes they've done. I'll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible and I hope my rants aren't too annoying or anything of the sort, just want to let out my opinion and give more insight into the series, maybe get some people to give the manga a read, because it is really amazing.

There's the one where Albert isn't there after Lloyd lets out his insane spell and congratulates him on him seemingly striking all targets, I felt that was a nice contrast on his cleverness (noticing Lloyd almost miss all targets on purpose) and his obliviousness (not noticing the huge hole in the sky), all in all, the change is minor and somewhat welcomed, but I feel it did add a bit to the humor and bonding between Lloyd and Albert.

There's also Lloyd finding out about dungeons by way of Grim, instead of him getting interested in the papers himself after reading all the books in the library already, this one is also a welcome change, but I dunno, I feel him having an interest on the outside world is more in character than just noticing that by chance.

Then there's another change and that one really irked me, despite it being so small, and that's when Lloyd or rather, Roberto is picking up rocks instead of watching Tao, he doesn't correct her by saying he was watching and then compliments her. At first I didn't know exactly why that change bothered me so much, but after some thought, I now know why, and sorry for the long post, but I do believe it subtracts part of what makes this series so interesting and unique, so let me explain.

First of all, we haven't had that much time knowing Lloyd, so far the anime has just told us he is interested in magic, and that is true, but there are several hints and such in the manga that there's something more to that, and that omission kinda just paints Lloyd as a jerk that would rather collect rocks, this goes for Tao's perspective as well, she doesn't get this "Oh, he was actually paying attention, my bad" moment, which later on is going to make a certain dialogue be harder to back up.

Second, I think it misunderstands the humor and depth of the scene, sure, "haha, rocks more interesting than Tao, funny", but the actual joke the scene should convey is that double subversion, where you'd expect that to be the joke, but it subverts it into, "Wait, he actually was watching AND collecting rocks" and not only is that more silly imo, but it also paints Lloyd as someone who finds fascinating all things, from people to rocks and has tact when sharing his interests.

All in all, it makes Lloyd seem to be just a magic maniac and makes the humor less intricate, which is going to make further events harder to back up, as it's these small hints that really add depth to what would otherwise seem just a guy obsessed with magic.

So that's all in terms of the bad, other than that, another change I'd make is stretch just a bit more on where the cliffhanger would be, as someone said, a Lich is not that good of a cliffhanger when you know Lloyd can handle such a monster and more. Personally, I feel a much better cliffhanger would've been when
that would give the audience more suspense of what's going to happen next episode.

So far I'm enjoying the adaptation, despite my comments and complaints on it, I worry the series looks average and generic in comparison to many others, and I'd say it's the biggest weakness of the series, it takes a while in order to get to the really good parts, we are not that far away from that, but still, a few small adventures away still.
