They say in the anime that elves have a lifespan of around 1000 years. But we know Frieren has lived longer than that, and we also know there are elves way older than her.

So what's the deal? Do they not have an average lifespan? Or only die in battle?

In lord of the rings, which most of this logic has been taken from, elves can live forever
However, Frieren’s teacher died of old age which implies that in this world, elves eventually die, just after several thousand years

Flamme was a human mage so she only lived the normal lifespan of a human in the series.

Well Flamme was a regular human even if she is the one who started Humanity’s progression of magic and her legacy is still told a thousand years after her death. We also know Kraft added that Frieren is young in elven years and that Serie is essentially a living grimoire.

We can safely assume that elves lives for thousands, maybe even tens more. An exact number however is something that we may never know or be able to comprehend.

From watching the show my guess is around 10,000 years on the high end

I haven't read the manga but the way it looks to me is that they live until they are killed. I would be surprised if elves can die of old age in the Frieren universe.

Frieren appears to be a teenager at age 1000+, so probably about 4000-5000 years

I mean this definitely ain’t related and there’s definitely a better reason for it. But the average lifespan of a human is about 80 years with good healthcare and quality of life etc. Even so there has been accounts of people living up to 120 years old. So if a being has an average lifespan of 1000+ years, possibly the range of possible ages could span too hundreds of years more than expected (i know this is stupid but ye xD)

i dare say they live until they are killed, Frieren has lived for at least a 1000yrs and the monk is prob even older. still she says she only lived a fraction of her life.
maybe 5000? Serie may be the closest we have from a canon answer 😅

When is ever stated elf only live around a thousand years?
Its Frieren that have been live around 1000+ years, no mention about elfs lifespan.
People speculated Kraft around 3000-5000 years, while Serie is 5000-10000 years old; which is make sense.

interesting fact about the elves in lotr is that they are also going extinct so it actually does match up pretty well with frieren lore

I think FOURTEEN THOUSAND YEARS(14,000 Years).

Elves are probably capable of cell transdifferentiation and metaplasias reprogramming a mature cell into a young one making them virtually immortal at least to aging. It's possible that Frieren reached an even "older" physical maturity appearance than she is now and that at some point she was exposed to some stress causing her to get younger.

I think this is probably the correct answer.

How long can anyone live without an accident or some other stupid cause gets them? Not forever, even if you stay home all the time, but a long, long time nevertheless.

That is really difficult to tell when we've yet to see a child elf or an elderly elf. Maybe they never age.

Based on the survival of the fittest, they may live for hundreds or even thousands of years. The adolescent or puberty stage/teen years of a human's life is comparable to frierens age in elves. That is my viewpoint.

In Naruto there are continuous flashbacks of things that happened even a few minutes before, think what could be done with a character like Frieren, nevermind let's not give ideas.
