I just don't get it anymore. I know I should be grateful to get any dragonball anime at all but how are you gonna end super at the tournament of power and give us crap like this when stuff like Black Frieza is happening in the manga?

probably because the manga hasn't gotten so far yet. and the current arc is a movie recap.

There’s only 2 arcs to cover in the manga, there’s no point in a super return yet. Super hero arc is just a rewrite of the movie with added content, which is still ongoing. Not really enough content since Dragon Ball prefers to be ongoing and not seasonal.

People pretend that original Dragon Ball Super didn't have anime being ahead of manga. Yes, I am aware that they didn't like it and tried to fix that. But they still could be able to keep up the pace, because releasing few pages once a month or few months when being paid so much is a little bit unfair to fans. And anime wouldn't keep up immediately to current manga chapter anyway. Anime would air weekly, sometimes maybe once a two weeks, like Super was. So before anime would keep up with current events of manga, manga would be far ahead again. It would be weeks.

That being said, I am actually interested in Daima. Still, Toriyama has enough money to make manga appear faster, instead of taking privilege of being lazy. If it was for free, sure, I can understand hobbyist would take it slower. But no. He is earning a lot of money selling manga. And continuation of Super is something people have asked for a very long time. Ignoring fans like that is kinda disrespectful to the people that made this whole series possible. Without readers and viewers, he wouldn't sell copy at all.

As for the movie recap. That's literally the same thing as Battle of Gods movie, that later was made into anime. Super Hero arc could do the same and that's what I actually expect.

Also, even if the anime somehow keep up too quickly, they can always make filler episodes. It's not like it was never done.

So, summing this up. Daima looks cool, but ignoring fans that pay You for the job is not cool. I can wait and it's fine for me, as long as it ever happens. But there are people who waited years and would love to see the anime continuation, because they have anticipated it for a very long time.

They probably want to wait until there's 3 new arcs to cover.

@jahver

Akira Toriyama said that the Super Hero arc takes place a few months before the End of Z (where Goku and Uub fight in the tournament), there is not really any room for more arcs and it is unlikely for an adaption to be as long as the original Super anyway, they could just make it a 12- or so episode arcs of Moro and Granolah, this "Daima" series seems to be exclusively for little children (not even teenagers) which is kinda strange

It's because of Shueisha the company responsible for Manga publishing. They are delaying super anime cause they want another arc in manga before they start adapting into anime. So After Daima ends there will be enough material for next Super season with Moro, Granohla and Another new arc which will be after Super hero movie arc

It did , but the production was totally different.
And actually , they did all they could to change that , and put the Manga as the one far ahead of everything else. That's why some Arcs were skipped/shortened.

I disagree.

We are talking about a monthly Manga... And with Toyotaro's storytelling and panelling , he takes a lot of chapters to tell little in the end.
The Anime would very quickly catch up , and they absolutely do not want that. So we'll keep getting side-stories like that until it's the case.

Elfezen said:

They'll just create more space in the timeline.

Look , Daima seems to take place before the start of Super...
And a lot of fan hope they'll finally make a story with what happened after Uub.

Not too strange , considering that in Japan , Dragon Ball Super is indeed targeted toward kids.
How many do you bet they'll do plushies of those chibi characters ?

I'm way more excited for this than the arcs that haven't been animated from the Super manga. The Moro arc was alright, but Toyotaro (and maybe Toriyama depending on the notes he provided) just didn't know when to leave well enough alone and end it. I thought the Granolah arc was just plain bad. I have a laundry list of issues with that arc, but I won't go into it here.

Daima seems fairly promising to me so far. I'm so excited to see Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru return as character designer after all of these years. He did a great job of replicating Toriyama's art style during the Buu arc and GT and he's still doing a great job (unlike Tadayoshi Yamamuro). It also appears that the fights will be less of a focal point, which I'm okay with. In my opinion, the series peaked with the remainder of the Dragon Team battling Vegeta and that was like 35 years ago. Just give me a fun adventure like the Pilaf or Red Ribbon Army arcs and I'll be perfectly happy.

DBS will return, if not in a new series immediately they will likely keep churning movies out like Broly & Super Hero. Either way we're guaranteed new DB content for years to come which is great.

I still personally think the DBS series will eventually return too, but who knows when

Its insane how theyre doing ANOTHER dragon ball anime without any manga help considering how all of the other ones turned out so bad.
GT and the second half of Super have some of the worst writing I've ever seen, and now theyre gonna do an all original series yet again.

Just use this good animation and budget to do a Super Kai and then continue with the manga.
I'd rather they redo the entire thing rather than make more bad stuff holy hell
I used to be a really big dragon ball fan but this story is really being butchered until it cant even stand on its own anymore, I don't even want to see this one after seeing the ending of the last movie, i liked it but then they got that super dumb power up.

this is Toei's cash cow, like with Sailor Moon they just had to stop putting all their efforts into releasing good films/series (albeit gradually), they seem to focus on quantity. I loved Broly and the animation so was hoping to see more of that style.

You think that's weird, according to MAL the actual DBZ sequel is DBGT. DBSuper is under side story along with other non cannon movies and the new Daima is classified as "other". I know how you feel Noyjitat.

Not exactly what I was after, but eh, its the 40 year anniversary of original Dragon Ball, so an excuse to do something with Kid Goku while retaining the profitable characters for merchandising, a win win for the company. Seems like its going to be taking place somewhere between the end of Buu and the start of Super, so no major impact on the grander story, just an excuse to de-power the characters for some adventure and martial arts hijinks ...will at least tide me over while the manga gets ahead enough for them to start animating super again

Dragon Ball has been a soulless corporate product for longer than most of us have been alive, it's weird that people continue to treat it so seriously or question their choices with the series. The series will go wherever they smell the most money.

Dragon Ball Room litterally created a new Dragon Ball franchise instead of continuing Super. Please stop thinking the manga is canon, it's just advertising material

@deadlyspawn Because Super isn't technically a sequel. It takes place in-between the Buu arc and the Epilogue.

@deadlyspawn Not really. It's just a sequel filling the gap between Buu arc and the series epilogue (it used to be treated as a part of Buu arc, but right now it's more common and proper to call it as Peaceful World arc, or End of Z arc), which had a timeskip lasting 10 years, happening between defeating Kid Buu and 28th Tenkaichi Budokai. Narrative-wise it's a sequel to the main story, done in a fancy way. The fact we are aware of the definite ending of the main story doesn't matter here.

Iduuno why people feel entitled to a DBS 2 (which was never promised) and then direct that hate at Daima?

Just because of the manga? Which was always separate to the anime...

I do personally think we will get a 2-3 more DBS movies after Daima, and then eventually get a DBS 2 of sorts.

But feels unfair to tear this project down because you misguidedly believe you deserve something else, which questionably even exists as a concept.
