| Not a manga reader, but many readers told that the people from initial D either make cameo appearances or are not seen at all in this one!! But initial D is one of the best racing series from the late 90s and early 2000s. |

| You can watch it, but most of the enjoyment is from eurobeat music and goosebumps of name doping of previous characters. I say try at least first three ep of Initial D to see if you would like it. If not than you can drop both series as they are basically the same. |

However MFG makes a lot of mentions to I-D, the actual explication is in-anime, like the story line in MFG explains all the necessary details. That being said, unless you watched I-D you'll have no idea who's for example Dr. Who, or Mr. Spock when in-story characters are making reference to those names. Not watching I-D first, you might or might not be able to appreciate the detailed racing camera angles, and chase cameras they use in-story. Like for now in days have drone following you is a normal thing, and having those close quarter cool action scenes because the Drone being there, but back then when I-D was portrayed, there was no drone, yet they still had really cool action scenes as if they were filmed by drones, well in-store it was either chase camera, or standing by fans/crews taking phone videos. The character design in MFG that kind of art style, is directly derivative from I-D as well, a blend of anime + real looking person combined, coming out with odd looking faces for guys, or really cute looking girls when they do their emo / tsundere faces 😅 I hope they make several seasons of MFG, really missed the Initial-D series. |
