would you say that's successful for the show?

i don't really know what average BD sales are like, or what the show needs to be in the green, but i really hope it's a success since i'm absolutely loving it.

i know some gundam fans don't really like the show and it is my first entry into the franchise, but so far it's really enjoyable and incredibly well made in my opinion.

thanks a bunch for the reply and all the referrals!

i know all the usual talk about linking budget and production values is a bit of a fallacy, but this show looks so good and is so consistent that i can't help but wonder if it did cost more than your average show (maybe for the purposes of drawing a remarkable staff and having a more lenient and prolonged schedule, though that's just a conjecture).

still, if what you said and linked is even remotely accurate today, then for sure they can at least break even, if not be reasonably profitable with all the merch and what not that gundam is supposed to be known for as well.

this is very heartening to hear! though i do wish more people on MAL would be into it as i feel people are kind of sleeping on this, but as long as the studio has what they need to bring their vision to life i'm happy i guess.

Someone went into an even more detailed response, but to summarize the main points: sales above 2K are seen as breaking even, 5K sales are seen as major public interest, and 10K sales are seen as more than likely going to receive sequels/continuations (unless either a movie or stand alone series, but that would be obvious). Long story short, G_Witch made impressive numbers, especially for it being the second week. I think week 1 sales are going to bounce back too, given that most people who buy the BDs want them as sets.

Edit: also, much bigger anime like Chainsaw Man actually saw lower sales than 7K, so it’s really impressive that a relatively lesser known series still garnered greater support than a giant like that. In the eyes of the producers, this show was/is a success so far.

awesome, i hope it keeps doing well and that the people behind it will be rewarded or at least feel rewarded for delivering a quality show and have the means to fully realize what they wanted with the show.

So what?
Also Manabi line is completely irrelevant since streaming is main source of income for years now.

Errr Gundam is way bigger than Chainsaw-man, at least in Japan - Heck everyone who live there knows about Gundam. Gundam SEED sold around 50k copies per volume, SEED Destiny sold around 60 to 70k per volume, 00 sold 39k per volume, most of Gundam usually sold more than 10k copies per volume

That too, but for Mecha shows toys sales are the most important thing and let me tell you: G-Witch Gunplas are selling like hotcakes. The show is a huge commercial success.
