definitely wouldn't say I like him, but FAR from disliking him; he is just not your usual super strong, all-knowing, flawless and tough main character people droll over

just because his attempts to change the future didn't prove to be successful, doesn't mean he didn't try, as a matter of fact he keeps pushing himself to do the best he can (and to be fair he is not the wisest guy there) and he doesn't give up - which is exactly what every other "liked" character does

he's one of the worst main characters. It's not even that he can't fight . He's just stupid and annoying crybaby. He has no skills and always pushes himself into the middle of fights. He knows the future more or less, but he doesn't draw conclusions and he still fails. Plus that stupid haircut. Everything about this dude annoys me. To me, Takemitchy seems like a type of a character that would make for a very good supporting guy, you know, they guy who says some encouraging stuff to the MC when chips are down, MC gets job done and they both together save the day.
Kinda funny concept, making MC out of a supporting role. Or at least giving some secondary player traits to MC. Well, that's my take, at least.

His hopelessness and relying on timing and wits of other people make me think the series tries to make everyone around him think of him as a hero just too naively.
But maybe he would be more welcome in my eyes if his internal dialogues did not consist of calling out people's names half the time, like "Mikey...!", "Mitsuya...", "Hina", "Hakkai!...", "Mikey...".

I'm not going to lie Takemitchy is ass. He's pretty useless and barely prepares for any of his time shenanigans, leaving him always out of the loop and reaching goals by pure luck. I think my least favourite part about him is that the author couldn't be bothered to give him any real strengths so they just made it so he can never be downed 'through sheer willpower' when in reality a brick to the face would down just about anyone, not least a scrawny highschooler (or middleschooler but I can't remember). Honestly it's been a while since I read the manga since I quit reading after he resolved to 'save Mikey' or whatever but insofar it feels like most of his resolutions come out through sheer coincidence and that's not good writing.

Takemichi is one of the best characters around. He's inspiring because he's not good at what he needs to do, but he doesn't give up. We give up all the time in many facets of our lives. Takemichi gets a second chance and he doesn't let go of it. He's an idiot, he's not good at fighting, and he cries all the time. But, he doesn't give up. Give me a character who isn't good at what he needs to do and still inspires us. Takemichi is awesome.

Actually do something to save them. Stop playing gang wars with a bunch of teens to lift his self-esteem. Tell them the whole truth and why they're in danger instead of putting them in more danger. And if he wants to force brute his way up to be the king of delinquents or something (lmao), to actually train to become stronger instead of using the others as shields, Mikey as his I-win card or waiting for a miracle to happen. Stop relying on teenagers for emotional support. Get them the help they need. Speak with their parents or caretakers (Hina's dad is a cop, for fucks sake). Etc, etc.

He's a 26 year old man with the power to time travel, but he actually does nothing to fix the situation or to improve himself. He manages to get outsmarted by a 14 year old, whatever gets "solved" is by sheer luck or thanks to Mikey and Draken while Takemichi steals the credit, yet we're supposed to believe that he's an amazing hero because.... he cries and gets punched. What's annoying, though, is not him being a cowardly piece of c*ap, but how the author tries to portray him as admirable while sh*tting on the other characters and their struggles.

So for me personally at first I really disliked and even hated him at times throughout the first season. He was useless, dumb, weak, and a crybaby (which reminded me a lot of myself and it's something that I truly hate about myself and that I am usually unable to control my emotions and hold my tears especially when I am angry).

However, His character development is one of the best I have seen out there and it's really realistic. He finally learned to act and stand up for what he believes instead of watching and crying about it yet without him turning somehow being overpowered. It was a good balance of him keeping his sensitive caring side as well as learning to be strong while learning to stand up and face his fears all for the sake of helping others. He truly has been through a lot so far, and I am really looking forward to seeing his character mature and for him get his own happy ending cause he deserves it :")

Bullshit excuse. Everyone trusts and worships him. Chifuyu believed him easily. Takemichi is using his time travel power to become the "cool" respected delinquent he couldn't ever be originally, and to date the girl who originally had dumped his ass. And that'd be fine, if the author didn't try to force the narrative that he's an amazing brave hero trying his best, which leads to cringe moments and horrible writing. That's why people hate him.
