People will always complain no matter what you give them. For some people it didn’t live up to their standards or how the manga went in their head. As long as the human race exists, there will always be dissatisfied people.

There are a lot of people who read the manga before watching the anime, and they are very passionate about it or about author's other works. They like it for certain reasons, but some of these reasons can't be found in this adaptation. Unfortunately some things don't work as well in the anime, some things feel different and not in the best way.

Because it's just weak xD It's not a matter of attention or anything unnecessary, it's just disappointing. MAPPA can do phenomenal animation, look at Jujutsu Kaisen. Here I watched every fight with astonishment on my face, because I have not seen anything so weak in a long time.

1) It's all due to popularity. That is the core issue with every popular series out there. Such series are bound to receive unnecessary hate. (although majority of the times people are just trolling for attention or whining as they expected something else). Just look at AoT, Demon Slayer and other popular shows and you'll see the same shit happening everywhere.

2) Because the studio animating CSM is none other than the infamous 'MAPPA' studio which has become such a cursed term among the community along with the term 'CGI'. And when these two come together, then you very well know what's gonna happen next.

3) Not everyone is a shounen/battle shounen fan so you can't do anything about it. They can just drop the show if it doesn't interest them one bit and just move on.

4) Maybe the manga readers are pissed that the anime didn't meet their expectations (which I find kinda hard to believe) but still who cares since everyone has different expectations and it is impossible for the animators to satisfy everyone.

The fact is that there will always be a vocal minority group that will keep on hating something just for the sake of hating on it.

CSM is the most interesting show this season for me. Great animation, soundtrack, and episode 12 animation fight scene so good. Any other anime wish to get their anime love treatment like this. You don't know how love Mappa staff for csm.

It's most likely the same reason I ended up hating demon slayer. It was probably really good, but as someone who's expectations were extremely high, actually experiencing it made it seem like a lie. Maybe people felt the same with csm. I started reading it immediately after the first episode dropped and I loved it, but I also knew what to expect going into the anime.
So I think the reason why is that some people had extremely high expectations but didn't know where those expectations were. It's like expecting a deep character out of dragon ball, you're expecting the wrong idea from the wrong series.
Or maybe some people just hate on popular things without watching them because that's what people do.

You know the kids who can't get satisfied even if you bring them a gold.
That's the people are those who are complaining about it.

Just think about it, this is a TV series with a cinematic and movie animation, not just one episode literally the whole season.
The care they put so much into the show, like little details such as movements of mouth which is so skillfully synchronised to what they are speaking.
The walking style, the frills on the clothes, the background, the colour being used, etc., everything was perfect.
CGI was also good not so bad as AOT.
And, the complaint they are speaking about the anime, did they not know Fujimoto-sensei himself supervised the anime, did the storyboard of some episodes.

And, one more thing, I am speaking this from the perspective of a manga reader, and I was left satisfied with the perfect adaptation of my one of the favourite manga.

Some people just have really high standards, some people are incapable of enjoying things for what they are, or some people simply just didn’t like it. As long you like for yourself that’s all that matters, trying to figure out why people don’t like something is not going to change how they feel.

1. New watcher that had been overhyped for this series, going to be one of the greatest anime of all time
2. Annoying manga reader that overhyped this series, going to be one of the miracle in anime industry

For CSM, the main reason is for slow pacing, anime can't carried the manga style and mostly because Overhype. Every Shounen anime always have a hater, and reason no. 1, 2 & 3 It's valid for every Shounen anime (even anime like AoT), but for CSM case, It's trully because reason no. 4 & Overhype

Some people just expected the adaptation to meet their personal vision of how the manga should be treated in anime form.

Turns out the director and other people behind the adaptation have their own artistic views and creative visions, wow what a surprise, and the final product isn't 100% like some fans expected.

It's all about going in with unrealistic expectations.

Having read the manga entirely before the shows release I was really only interested in the fight scenes which were butchered entirely by the CGI in my opinion. The show is good (especially the production quality), there's no doubt but it isn't higher than like an 8/10. Season 2 will be solid considering the next arcs though.

I enjoyed the show, but I think it was too hyped.
The main protagonist has like cracked up plot armor and the fights are pretty stereotypical. Can they please fight and not start talking for two minuted straight?
I'm not going to complain about the CGI because it was really good. Why is it something bad that they used some? Hello World is a very good movie and it's .add fully in 3D. They important thing is the plot and it was original but lacked something in the anime.
Also, the community sucks. Everytime I entered the MA) main page, there was (and still is) like 4 full pages of forums about CSM. And 3/4 of them are completely useless.

Still, enjoyable anime.

I didn't hate it, nor am I upset about it. It just didn't feel like CSM to me at all. Some aspects of the manga that I really enjoy are the fast pacing, bright colors, expressive art & overall chaotic vibes, which were absent from what I saw of the anime (4 episodes). I didn't like the anime's directing, slower pacing or toned down expressions and color palette. I don't have any beef with people who enjoyed the anime. I'm glad you guys had fun lol. It's just not my ideal CSM adaption. :p

At the end of the day, I would say I'm still happy this adaption was made because we at least got a new Maximum the Hormone song out of it.

Honestly this is normal when it comes to popular anime, but this situation is different for me because usually i don't enjoy popular shounen like Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer or whatever yet ,and im in the minority where i think the anime is Mid, but in this situation, CSM surprised me a lot and it does things I haven't seen a shounen do. I was expecting for people to go wild over the anime,but it turns out that people were still not satisfied....so ehh. I personally blame the overhype for people being disappointed.

Well, yea its still highly rated,but the rating keeps going down which is odd, i usually expect something like that weeks after the show is done but its rating started dropping right after the final episode aired.And then i peeked at forums tab and saw more people were dissatisfied than i thought. I wasnt expecting everyone to like it but i also didnt expect this much dissatisfied people.

The rating probably started to drop around that time because a lot of people who follow seasonal anime don't assign scores until after they've seen an entire show. At least, that's my best guess.

Manga reader here, didn't lived up to the manga at all. Even though mappa can produce great anime like JJK or ZLS, on top of it some people were hipying it up as revolutionary to the anime industry and the shonen genre, guess what, none of that happened. I give it a 6 because I consider it insatisfactory, not bad just didn't lived up to expectations

I read the manga and it’s a really good adaptation. Some of the episodes were amazing and some didn’t hit me the same. But it’s just the beginning of the story. It still has plenty of potential to gain popularity.

You probably are right because shonen isn't my thing and I haven't seen a lot of them. Still, I liked the show but I felt like it missed something. When a new episode was airing I didn't care a lot and watched other ones until I had free time some days later.
Again, I enjoyed the show but for me it wasn't worth the hype (and especially not worth the thousands of new threads)

Most people who watched the anime have already read the manga and a lot of them think that it didn’t manage to capture the craziness of the manga because of the muted colors and the direction. If you haven’t read the manga yet then give it a try when you have the time, to see the difference.
