The Uma Musume: Pretty Derby 4th Special Dreamers!! Extra Stage event announced on Sunday that a third anime season for the franchise is in production by Studio Kai, revealing an announcement promo.

The event also revealed a key visual (pictured right) and teaser promotional video for the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Road to the Top, schedule to debut in Spring 2023. The anime was announced in May and will focus on T.M. Opera O, Admire Vega, Narita Top Road, and other Uma Musume aiming to win the Classic competitions.

P.A. Works produced the first anime season in Spring 2018, while Studio Kai produced the second anime season in Winter 2021. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons with subtitles as they aired in Japan.

The anime series is part of Cygames' Uma Musume: Pretty Derby mixed-media project, where anthropomorphized racing horses as girls with exceptional running capacity aim to win at the "Twinkle Series" sports event. The project includes songs, webcomics, and a smartphone game that was released in February 2021.

I'm fine until it turns into a nonsensical franchise like Love Live.

Awesome. Since Teio, Suzuka, SW and McQueen real life stories is over, we either get a new character or make a fictional one.

Ya'll not reading the opening post? "Will focus on T.M. Opera O, Admire Vega, Narita Top Road".

This is about the ONA, not about the third season. Seems like it's you who read it unattentively.

Was about to go to bed, then saw this announcement. Guess i'm not feeling sleepy anymore.
Coming out in 2023!? I know it could be at the end of the year, but still! I thought the 3rd season won't come out until like 2024-25 due to seasons 1 to 2.
The 1st and 2nd season of Uma Musume was amazing, and I just fell in love with it. I'm cannot wait for the 3rd season!

Not shocking, considering how well season 2 sold.

"T.M. Opera O, Admire Vega, and Narita Top Road shared 1999 Classic Triple Crowns. They are called "1999 Classic Top Three".

From the Pretty Derby wiki, so the pattern of basing the anime off actual races and the horses involved continues. Going to be a great story, especially how Studio Kai's art was so good recently with Fuuto Tantei and Shine Post.

The decision to continue the anime is made based on the popularity of the game, not the anime adaptation.

Still, I bet even if the game only did OK, those blu-ray sales would be enough to consider making more.

Not in this case. The show is infamous for the fact that Cygames added unique bonuses for their games to discs in order to sell discs better.
