And Who started this maid trend? Why are maids so popular? they are so many maid costume and cosplays at anime conventions as well....

Either Hayasaka from Love is War or Maria from Combat Butler. Both make me laugh out loud a lot, and are probably my favorite characters from both shows. Tohru is a strong runner up tho

She is excellent at combat but sucks at actual maid works .. so she will break everything...

Anyway she is a maid but actually a bodyguard..
