RetroCrush - Anime Streaming Service - What Are Your Thoughts?

Recently, I've found out about an anime streaming service that I have not heard of. It's called RetroCrush [https://www.retrocrush.tv/] and it is on about every platform. The site uses the content from discotekmedia it seems (https://www.discotekmedia.com/). It has most of the content but not all from the publishing company. Most of the series are retro and all that. The video player (on PC) seems decent, but I have not had much time since I just came across it about an hour ago. Although I'm not sure on mobile devices and such.

After a bit of research, I found out that most [not all] of discotekmedia's content is on Crunchyroll. Thoughts on that tad bit of information? Don't forget since VRV is owned by Crunchyroll, most of the same thing applies to VRV as well.

For the people who currently use this platform, what are your thoughts? Any positives and negatives? If you've stopped using this platform in the past, what was your reasoning? Have you tried testing it again if it didn't meet up to your standard?

If you've never heard of the site until now, what are your opinions?

Whatever the case may be, I'm interested to hear both the pros and cons.

The name certainly fits the site. A place that's full of older shows that interested of.

Good for classic old school anime. From the 80s to early 2000s. Subtitled.

I’ve never heard of it until now, I’ll check it out I guess and see what it’s all about.

I don't know much about RetroCrush, but I would like to use it sometime since they have stuff I want, like Creamy Mami and Kobato.

I'm sure @maou_heika has some... opinions to share on the site though.

@Fario-P Thanks for mentioning me.

As for RetroCrush is concerned:
They have terrible UI/UX, the website is overall very buggy, at the time I tried to signup it would keep on throwing random errors but finally accepted after submitting the exact same information 3-4 times. Since I had created an account anyways and had a 30 day free trial, I checked around to find that sometimes their titles randomly displayed html entitles and other weird characters. Their player doesn't work well either, the thing just kept on loading and loading, it took at least a few minutes before the episode finally started to play, I have never faced this problem with Crunchyroll. If you try to complain about the UX issues on their social media then they'll just delete your comment.

Another thing you should be aware of is that if you are using their web app, subscribing to premium is useless as ads will still continue to play on episodes due to a technical bug with Adsense on their website which they don't seem to have any intentions of fixing. This issue has been confirmed by their customer support team.

As you have already mentioned majority of RetroCrush's titles come from Discotek which are also available with Crunchyroll (the remaining are licensed by Digital Media Rights). They only upload baity videos to their youtube to try to gain attention and their shoujo channel is absolute garbage. I'd rather pirate than watch anything from them if RetroCrush is my only option.

first impressions: it loads slow for me and a lot of unavailable errors on desktop. probably not the best to invest in premium for me if that's the state on desktop.

Too late. Everything that interests me on Retrocrush, I already watched before Retrocrush existed. I will be forever grateful if they pull off a miracle and license the 2003 Astro Boy with Japanese audio. I'm against the 4:3 garbage seen on DVD and other sites. 🤢🤮

They upload openings to Youtube which is cool. Never used their site though.

I sort of heard of it, from Youtube, I think, I haven't tried it yet but sounds like a great place for us old anime nerds, it sucks if it doesn't have everything, tho.
EDIT: It looks like AsianCrush to me but solely for old anime which makes me wonder if the HD quality is for free or not, I'm doubting it which doesn't make it great at all, then lol add that if the player is the same too, then it's even worse, I guess torrenting is still the best option out there.

Well shit, that sucks, but then again there's something called VPN.
