we all know cg has been used since forever, including the first macross entry I believe. as long as it's traced it can produce gorgeous fluid, on model animation as seen in rebuild of evangelion 1-3. or absolute out of place jarring garbage like deep insanity, fairy gone, gibiate, and so on. you all know the type. (I don't think SnK's cg titans were as bad as the ones mentioned) what brought this up was, I started rewatching ga-rei zero and when the cgi monster appeared my first thought was "heh, the cg hasn't aged a single day it's on par with modern anime." then the realization hit me like a train. has anyone experienced this, or anything similar? would you watch a full cg show where things don't feel out of place? I've seen sidonia and the cg wasn't bad, the low framerate ruined it still. I couldn't stomach https://myanimelist.net/anime/33797/ID-0 however. the best cg stuff I've seen were found in etotama, and precure at times. movies and ed sequences. also that new lupin movie that came out last year. that was pixar tier. |

I've always been fine with CG in anime, it doesn't really bother me much. Sometimes it's funny to point out how bad it looks like in some stuff like in Tokyo Ravens or hideous ass Berserk 2016 which looked so bad it was actually kinda funny. But I've seen good examples of it and I think it's neat, actually some of the best CG I've seen in anime was from Aikatsu on Parade! ONA. I thought the CG for In Bloom was amazing and I want to watch Aikatsu! just for it lol. |

I've always found the CG in anime jarring. The more recent SNK still gave me a laugh at times. The state of it is weird. Even titles like Love Live! that really bring in dough get it rough lol I could only watch a full CG no problem if it looked squeaky clean like Aikatsu! once it finally got going. |

3DCG is here to stay as long as there is anime overproduction and animator shortage crisis its a myth that 3DCG is cheaper than 2D animation too (at the moment at least) so ye 3DCG is expensive but the anime studios does it to meet the airing deadlines because failing to do so is more expensive anyway rotoscoping of 3D animation (drawing over 3D) is more expensive or more time consuming i think |

The CG in Aikatsu! was pretty noticeable at first, but it got better over time. By the time Stars! and later Friends! started airing, the CG in the performance scenes were actually quite good! Too bad I can't say the same with Planet!, and the CG quality took quite a hit with Blooming Cafe. The CG performance in Aikatsu Stars movie was amazing! I think the CG worked quite well in BanG Dream! and D4DJ. It might be noticeable at first, but the series are so enjoyable that you get used to it rather quickly. Roselia's Fire Bird is perfection The CG for Idoly Pride mobile game is quite good as well. and of course, there is the currently airing Selection Project. simply beautiful☆ |

CG never bothered me, I saw Kingdom S1 as it came out and didnt bother me, the same case with Berserk and Ajin(which I actually liked, since the background characters reacted and kept moving even if they weren't the focus on the scene...which doesn't happen regularly even in tradicional anime) I believe CG became very good on movies and Toei is making a great job mixing tradicional and CG animation, not only on movies(which studios have time to work with), but in weekly anime like OP and Dragon Quest If more studios use this type of CG, I believe that it might be better for all of us(Im not sure but Ive heard that CG is faster, cheaper and easier to produce new episodes...but correct me if Im wrong) Edit: Gundam IGLOO series and Blue Submarine nº6 were hard to watch...Specifically because of how slow the animations where, not the CG itself |

CG in anime is only as good as the studio using it. There's a lot of new, untested studios that have only done VFX for movies/TV/commercials/music videos or video game cutscene stuff, and they think they can just put out a CG anime and have it look good. nope. Even veteran studios really, really need to practice with it, and apply a distinct artstyle OR lean into the artifice, as with Land of the Lustrous. Most of the best studios still use CG, but people don't notice it or care as much because it's not used for animating people. People, that's where the trouble starts. The corpses that riddle the Uncanny Valley, doll-like and unsettling. |

I think 86 has pretty good CG that I can watch. Does it feel like it's CG and a bit out of place? Sometimes, in certain shots, but I really think it's very good. Aldnoah Zero is another anime that employs CG for its mechs which at first I thought was OK, but then got better, or maybe I just got used to it. I personally think if the story is good enough to keep me engaged and the CG isn't jarring, then I'd watch it. HOWEVER, I would rather watch a combination of both than watch a full CG show because it would still feel off. At the end of the day, I think it's all a matter of getting used to it. We're so used to watching 2D animation that it's hard for us to adapt to 3D or to ignore its flaws. If we watch more CG shows and get used to its dynamics, it'd eventually feel less out of place. |

I think studios are still getting used to using CG to make a full anime so there is still a lot of mistakes or uncanny appearances that pop up As someone who watches MANY bad CG anime, It's at a point where we've surpassed the Berserk 2016 era of CG anime (for the most part *cough*) and now studios are trying to find how to style it to use the CG to the setting and character's advantage rather than just trying to copy-paste the standard anime design format |

I personally enjoyed watching some later CG series like Dorohedoro/Gantz0/Knights of Sidonia/Hello World but I don't think making CG fps 24 like 2D fps was a good call (like in Dorohedoro and Knights of Sidonia). In a lot of CG chinese donghua they have 30fps or motion blur because in action scenes without motion blur or frame blending the CG just falls apart and even in normal dialogue scenes the characters just have that motion tracked and unrefined char-rigging feel. |
