Why is the Titan with commando all round abilities called "Female Titan"? Can it only be inherited by females? Does it turn male hosts into females? I suspect thinking is a bad idea when it comes to this anime... Should we just enjoy this as it was meant to be "shallow" enjoyment. |

It's because regardless of the gender the holder of the female titan will always transform into a titan with a feminine appearance. The other Titans do not show any female characteristics even if the titan shifter is a female. |

I think the female titan is supposed to represent Alfheim, one of the nine realms in Norse mythology, where the light elves live. |

Jaw Titan seems to be the opposite (male counterpart) of the Female Titan, because freckled Ymir's titan form looks nothing like its predecessor (Marcel's) or its successor (Porco's); it looks almost identical to her mindless titan form. So this might also be the case if a guy inherits the Female Titan. |

So, from the comments, and disagreements. I will assume this hasn't been clarified in the anime, or the manga. EDIT: I will make a prediction. Annie Leonhart is never going to lose her titan from being eaten. If by some miracle she is eaten; then it will be from another girl. Basically, no man is allowed to inherit this titan power, nor are they allowed to test it. This will only keep the conspiracy of the "female titan" going on for literally eternity. |

More about female titan get revealed much later in the Manga, and it makes more sense that way. Unless you want to get spoiled I wouldn't read further. Basically, Annie and Zeke used to do experiments trying to figure out what the female titan is good at exactly, because unlike all the other titans, it lacks a specific characteristic. Turns out female titan can somewhat copy the abilities of other titans if it eats part of them, hence Annies ability somewhat control the pure titans with her scream. Basically, female titan is a copy titan, so it probably just mimics the appearance of its owner. It's probably called female titan because it looks like a female, and since it lacks other characteristics, they just stick with this name. It being inherited by a female is probably just tradition or convenience, but it doesn't mean that a man can't inherit the titan. It's more like that since a female had the titan at some point, they passed it down to other females because it looked like one, rather than passing it on to females because it can only be inherited by females. Its a titan that can copy things to a certain extent. It doesn't make sense until much later in the story. I don't remember the exact details about the description of Annies titan, since it was a few months ago that I read it, but this is basically it. A lot of stuff in AOT makes no sense, until it suddenly does. |

Its not related to the gender of the holder. 女型 aka woman shaped meaning the physical attributes. It comes from the fact that The original titan Ymir being female. The 9 titans are the seperated powers of the founder. |

The following contains spoilers up to Ch.136 of the manga There is no reason for calling the female titan other than it looks like a female, and obviously the author didn't think about it much; because it wasn't even mentioned at all in the manga. Just like calling the Jaw Titan, because it has a distinctive Jaw; but not all users will develop a clear jaw bone. In addition, there are ways to manipulate/change the abilities, physical looks, or rules of the titans. Basically meaning, no titan rules are set in stone. They can change on the fly. The rant however is stupid and can be addressed with easy counter parts from the story itself . also about training, they were infact trained a lot as you've seen from the dialogue and obviously, Marcel Just wanted to fucking die at the point he did. Also, its clear the marleyan govt. is largely controlled by the tybur's and they don't really seem to give a fuck as they know the truth that the paradis "devils" have no memory of their history. As per the stupid govt. of marley, I agree and so does Magath their true intentions for sending children is never really known, and its kinda stupid even if you did say most of them can be as cold as an ice berg, other than the obvious "children are easier to manipulate brainwash and set straight in one path" Also there is still the edge of female titan being able to mimic things easier just by consuming parts of other titans most likely flesh, so it does have its own quirk, and thus doesn't rule out that only a female Eldian can use its full potential. |

This implies that experiments like this can change all of the titans abilities in the exact same way they manipulated the female titan. Hence, the female titan is just a generic all round ability titan. Please, reply in this sub-reddit to keep from spamming spoilers in this thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/MIRanting/comments/ktkx8u/attack_on_titan_spoiler_rant_up_to_ch136_of_manga/ the war hammer titan But one thing i admit is weird is that they never tried extracting the spinal fluid of a shifter and making another one consume it. could be that the Titan scientists of marley weren't sure of the consequences as anything could happen, maybe even give him unwanted abilities, or abilities which he could use against Marley. |

It's just a name. Just like the Warhammer titan not really having much to do with warhammers. I wouldn't think too much about it. |

The author of this story will never clarify nor reveal the true meaning behind the name of this Titan; because when he wrote the story it didn't cross his mind for a second that he would bother to explain it at all. If asked about this Titan at a interview, then the author will try his best to dodge the question. Most likely by talking on tangents that has nothing to do with the question like a politician. If the female titan ate a tiny bit of the Jaw Titan, then would she grow wings and be able to fly? ^^ I would love more than anything if the author proved me wrong. |

I'm obviously joking when I say "Mary Sue"; and I have to say this because you obviously wouldn't get it. I also want to mention that I do not use reddit. The main problem is that we don't know enough about the titans to come to a conclusion, and can only work with the information we have. That information so far is that "it is particularly easy for the Female Titan to exhibit abilities similar to those of the other Titans if it consumes parts of them. As a result, she was heavily experimented on." I took the quoted fragment from the AOT fandom wiki. Whether she's been experimented on a lot, or little and whether they did experiments on other titans too or not, does not change the fact that Annie said that the female titan has the ability to imitate things. Whether this is the reason that she looks like a female or not, is not really clear. Annies ability to summon pure titans despite her having no royal blood could be either because she at a part of Zeke or because it's an inherent ability of the female. While the latest chapter pretty much confirmed that the difference between titans isn't as huge as we thought it was, there still is a significant detail about each titan that differentiates them from each other. Jaw with its strong teeth and claws, colossal size, armored titan with the armor, and so on. So from all that we can assume that the female titans power is to mimic the individual abilities of the other titans to some extent. Anyway, we can't do more than come up with different theories. Now, to address some other point of view, since from your comments it does seem that you are heavily trying to imply that the show is shallow and that the characters in it are not the smartest. "I suspect thinking is a bad idea when it comes to this anime... Should we just enjoy this as it was meant to be "shallow" enjoyment." "Basically, the limited knowledge characters in the story confirmed this; NOT the author of the book. These same characters were also smart enough to figure out the Paradise Island Devils are not evil after all. They were so smart that it only took mass murdering thousands of people to figure it out." You're not completely wrong, but you're not right either. While AOT does have a few flaws, big flaws too, it is still a very intelligent story. Why do I say that? It's because the main story, start to finish has been pretty much planned out all the way since chapter one. The first image with Eren and Mikasa under the tree has the main protagonist, main antagonist, deuteragonist, love interest, and hero who will fight the antagonist all in the same scene, and a title which refers to 121 chapter later. AOT is a very well planned out story, much better than anything I have come across so far. That's for the main plotline of the show. The events happening in between, you can notice that they have been evolving with Isayama over the years. Especially the first season of AOT has quite a few moments that don't make sense, like the colossal titan just appearing and disappearing, while later on its transformation is like a nuke. It's early stages, and while the story was planned out, the events at least, the exact way that thing would happen did change over time. That's why some of the problems with titans cannot be explained well, because at the time they were created, their purpose was most likely to "simply be there". Female titan seems more like a way to foreshadow Annie being the titan, and nothing more. The explanations for these things came much later, and sometimes don't match up too well. Female titan is female because it looks like one, because the holder is a female. Frieda is also female. Pieck too, but her titan doesn't, BUT she walks on 4 legs. So, since different titans move differently, maybe only the ones that stand up like humans can look female. As we can notice, there are titans that look human, and those that look more like animals. Female dog vs. male dog looks kinda the same, but for humans, there are big differences. In the end, it still ends up making sense. As for the scenes with the colossal titan, we as viewers can enjoy parts of it since it was mostly done to look good in that moment. You can slightly change the events with the colossal titan and the story could still progress the exact same way. Also would you mind explaining to me why you included the following comment in your description: "I suspect thinking is a bad idea when it comes to this anime... Should we just enjoy this as it was meant to be "shallow" enjoyment." It has very little to do with your initial question, and the thread would be the same without it. Actually, it would be even better without it, since it's a statement that can easily lead to "flame wars", how moderators like calling it. Furthermore, I don't understand why you had to include this statement here as well in you later reply towards me: "I'm obviously joking when I say "Mary Sue"; and I have to say this because you obviously wouldn't get it." What exactly is the purpose of it? The point you made would have the exact same meaning without it. Could you not have waited for another reply from me to see if I understood it or not before commenting? ^^ I don't think you get it. Let me help you: I_Am_Freeballing said: It's just a name. Can it only be inherited by females? Does it turn male hosts into females? I suspect thinking is a bad idea when it comes to this anime... Should we just enjoy this as it was meant to be "shallow" enjoyment. Wrong, but it was a nice guess. Spoiler up to Ch.136 of the manga: It is revealed that the Jaw Titan has the ability to turn into a bird because it swallowed part of the beast titan's spinal fluid. This implies that experiments like this can change all of the titans abilities in the exact same way they manipulated the female titan. Hence, the female titan is just a generic all round ability titan. Please, reply in this sub-reddit to keep from spamming spoilers in this thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/MIRanting/comments/ktkx8u/attack_on_titan_spoiler_rant_up_to_ch136_of_manga/ Annie specifically states that the female titan is "particularly good at this" meaning that it's part of her titans ability. It's nowhere implied that Annie turned into a titan because of Zeke's spinal fluid. Either way, without an official explanation, all theories work. That's true from their perspective, because it was confirmed with their limited experiments. However, clearly states that this is just their assumption, no proof; because they could not test the other titans. Basically, the limited knowledge characters in the story confirmed this; NOT the author of the book. These same characters were also smart enough to figure out the Paradise Island Devils are not evil after all. They were so smart that it only took mass murdering thousands of people to figure it out. It was confirmed in the latest chapter that all titans have the same ability (by ingesting spinal fluid), and Jaw Titan has an advanced Beast Titan ability. Using the powers of Gabi Sue Will Power, he doesn't just mimic copy the Beast Titan ability; but he has surpassed the ability of the Beast Titan. Could you not have waited for another reply from me to see if I understood it or not before commenting? ^^ I don't think you get it. Let me help you: I_Am_Freeballing said: It's just a name. Of course you wouldn't bother reading it. This thread was never about finding out why the female titan looks female, but about receiving replies that agree with your point of view. You call what I wrote a rant without even reading it. You don't even know whether I agree or disagree with you in the end, yet you make baseless comments about it. All of this to bring more validity to your own belief. It is truly interesting to see how selfish human beings can be. I also got the answer I wanted. Thank you for not reading. It reveals so much more about your character than anything you could have done. BRO, YOU MAD? I asked you to choose one: A) agree, or B) agree to disagree. and you picked C) RANT ON! I didn't know you had the ability to read people's minds (to know what they were thinking at the time of their posts). You are a genius. Can we move on now? You are clearly ranting. What can I do to calm you down? Are you in need of a girlfriend? What is it? I can help. Oh wait, I got it! You want: replies that agree with your point of view. I don't think you're really acquainted with what the word "rant" really means. Each of your replies to me gets better. They all follow the same formula. You make derogatory comments in an attempt to put me down. You use baseless, stereotypical reasoning for this. Merely some cookie-cutter replies without any proof. "BRO, YOU MAD?" You even put it in caps lock. Then the callout for me not having a girlfriend, along with the once more typical "you have no life" formula, asking me to move on. It's the kind of reasoning I've seen more than I can count. There's no originality in it. Is there really nothing better to say? Still you emphasize that I'm ranting. If you had taken a bit of time to read what I wrote, you would have noticed that I both agree and disagree with your point of view, and that it's not a rant. I really want to talk to negative people such as yourself. It's a great experience. I'm winning so many things just from reading your continuous derogatory comments. Can it only be inherited by females? Does it turn male hosts into females? I suspect thinking is a bad idea when it comes to this anime... Should we just enjoy this as it was meant to be "shallow" enjoyment. Could you not have waited for another reply from me to see if I understood it or not before commenting? ^^ I don't think you get it. Let me help you: I_Am_Freeballing said: It's just a name. Just like the Warhammer titan not really having much to do with warhammers. I wouldn't think too much about it. YOU THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT!!! Why did you bother writing a novel? Did you really think I would bother reading your unorganized rant? I got the answer I wanted, can we please move on? Could you at least "agree to disagree" and move on with your life? Is this what you want?I don't think you're really acquainted with what the word "rant" really means. Did you just admit to being a TROLL? Jeebus, *sigh*... It seems there really isn't much more to get from you than the same old pattern you frequently follow in your replies. Baseless accusation that has nothing to do with what I was talking about in an attempt to put me down, the usage of caps lock to emphasize certain parts, and stereotypical gibberish to showcase how little you care, while at the same carrying a pitiful undertone towards me. To be fair, you added the sigh at the end, which you haven't done before, to further enhance this feeling of pitty towards "the troll". OK Gabi saves the world. Agreed completely. |

Makuro said: Fricking cliffhangerr Gabi. I child. Picks up a rifle for the first time in her life. No scope, kills an moving target from a near impossible to hit position. Uses the Female Jedi Force to jump onto the zeplin line forty feet high Uses the Female Jedi Force to make all the militants ignore and leave their last comrade behind. She waves her hand, "you don't need to worry". Rebel says, "I don't need to worry." So, he commences to dance and celebrate with dicks out. Gabi finishes climbing the zeplin. Shoots, kills, and uses the Female Force, "You don't want to kill a child." Rebels say, "Don't kill her. It's only a child." They ignore the fact that she is armed and shooting them like monkeys in a barrel. Luckily the girl doesn't massacre them all. Many days later... Gabi picks up a armor piercing tank cannon for the first time ever, head shots Eren's head completely off. While Eren's head is rolling, everyone's eyes are rolling in unison. Many days later... While flying on a mystical irrational bird. Gabi reaches into her bag of plot armor. At the very last second, after every single person is defeated. There is nobody left alive to stop Eren. All the women and children are crying; because they already know the world has ended. Gabi pulls out NO SCOPE SNIPER PLOT SHOT and saves the world. Rey Palpatine is smiling on the other side of the multiverse. The dark side is strong, very strong. |
