well, this is the end. very rushed and quite unsatisfying ending, but it's to be expected since it got axed quite hard

Star Entity wipes out the Virm ship, but they're not dead of course. Hiro and Zero Two reunite and transform into Strelizia XX, fly towards Star Entity and pierce the infected Klaxosaurs Princess. She dies and her corpse is sprinkled over the whole planet lol. the final kiss didn't really give any weight to this rushed ending

but oh well, seems like a lot of people are satisfied with this ending over the anime space battle one. both western and japanese audience seem to like it and look forward to Yabuki-sensei's next work. hopefully, it'll be good

Well, would you look at that... The God of ecchi managed to do a better version of DiTF than its own creator. Take notes Nishigori, this is how DiTF should've ended.
I'm very pleased with this manga and I wish Cloverworks would do an adaptation of this while retconning the first DitF anime out of existence.

Gonna be honest, I thought the ending was a tad worse than the anime. At least in the anime, you had the corny ending with reincarnation and Hiro meeting Zero Two again. As atrocious as the events leading up to that were, I felt more satisfied with that ending than the rushed ending we got in the manga. The manga as a whole I feel had stronger parts than it's source of origin, but the ending failed to tie it altogether for me, and once again, like the anime, it felt rushed and as such, the end product failed to deliver on the promise it once showed. I only score the anime higher because the music was phenomenal.

All in all, both the anime and the manga were subpar at best. Interesting characters and plot weren't enough to save the choppy and rushed writing that their respective stories suffered from after their climaxes.

I enjoyed this whole series, wish the endings on both were better. But my final note on this series is that the manga ending was fan service, but still felt good a refreshing to see. Was it rushed? Yes but a lot of the parts that were rushed were parts that were already seen in the anime. So I guess they play off of each other. In my opinion, in order to completely close this series in the best way possible it needed 5-7 more chapters. I hoped there is a small epilogue schene, with zero two and hiro, maybe their marriage or whatever.

I love they way that they dropped all of the space sh*t it didn’t help the story in the anime. I still haven’t found a story with these types of elements, it could hv been done better but it was good in its own right.

Rushed just like the anime but has a slightly better ending and many parts were changed for better or worse.
Not sure how to even rate this....

It was fine. I guess I wish they had something grander to build to. What an unfortunately forgettable series

It's not like he wrote it. Writer was Code:000, which could be both Nishigori and/or Hayashi

I mean, it's kinda obvious that it's both of them, but since DiTF was marketed as being Nishigori's passion project and the fact that it was heavily influenced by old Gainax anime I'd say there's more Nishigori than Hayashi in DiTFs writing.

What a disappointment. I haven't watched the anime, but this manga was nothing short of terrible.

The story was so obviously rushed, all of the characters are incredibly bland and forgetable, the villains are terrible (what the hell was with that sudden exposition dump just 2 chapters before the end?!), the character development was rushed and the romance was forgetable.

And then there is the worldbuilding...everything about it seemed like the author just made up stuff as it happened rather than having it all planned out from the beginning.

You should have definitely watched the animated series instead. This seems to be just an attempt to grab some money through popular "ret-cons" to the original story. It lacks profoundness and message the original has.

Well, I need to say that I liked more the story in the manga. About the final... I think the both were rushed and unsatisfactory for me :p, one is a “sad” ending and the other is a “happy” one xd, but I definitely enjoyed both.

I actually agree with this. I feel like the anime ending even with all its faults still felt more satisfying than the manga ending. Both the anime and manga are very flawed, but the anime at least has the great music and animation, so I'd definitely prefer the anime over the manga.

Better than the anime. I was hoping to see Kokoro get smashed with Yabuki behind the art, but alas. Fanservicey scenes were excellent across the board and the ending felt better than the anime for sure. It was fast, but it wasn't bad.

A huge improvement over the anime ending, it might have been a bit rushed but I liked it much more. I would love to see this adapted into an anime and jettison the ridiculous original ending. Overall I thought the manga was stronger in the earlier chapters too, it didn't grind to halt like the anime did after the Plantation was damaged the kids were left to fend for themselves. The manga felt more consistently engaging rather than becoming a slog in the last third like the anime.

The ending was great, it gave me hope. Darling in the FranXX is the first mecha show that I've come to enjoy. I didn't watch the anime prior to reading the manga but now I think I'm gonna watch it because there are apparently many differences between the two.
