I personally think it's weird. Cuz I'm just a normie and I don't like all those cosplayers and stuff. They creep me out.

You're asking me if I go out and socialize with people? Thats a funny joke.
(to answer your question for real though, I'm an in-closet anime fan, so no.)

Anime is a private thing in my life so I never considered joining a club. Although I've heard clubs in university/college can be fun.

Come to Chicago then, you'll find something.

When I was in middle school and all my anime knowledge was based off of Toonami. I'd probably get into fights if I was in one now.

The thing is, I hate populated areas. It's rather quiet in good ol' SD.

Those cosplayers put a lot of time, effort, and money into something they're passionate about. I don't cosplay, but I certainly respect those who do and don't find them "weird" for having fun with their lives.

There's an anime club at my university and we did some fun things; I even got to host a panel for the anime convention we hosted on campus. Granted, there were some people who acted like babies, which is why I didn't show up too much, but overall, I'd say it was fun, and I learned about new anime that I ended up liking.

Used to, then slowly realized that my "tastes" weren't as mainstream as theirs

I went to a club in college but that was back in '02-06 so I've long since graduated with my certificates and moved on.

The one I've gone to (which is the only one I know about) is just a bunch of normies sitting around watching anime for a couple hours. It's not very scary.

Bit of a generalisation of the cosplayers there, every cosplayer I’ve talked to are good people. And no I haven’t and probably never will go to an anime club

Online? Yes. I joined a lot of club. Mostly "Anime game" clubs though..
But IRL? No. I did join "Japan Club" in school, but it's actually a literature club, even though almost all of the members is an anime fan.

I'm starting to get embarrassed by my own forum signature line.. XD

Our school doesn't even have clubs, yet alone an anime club. I doubt i'd even join, but i guess it could be fun.

No, not really. I don't like nor understand the hype over gathering in groups and discussing a particular series or having a schedule what series and how many episodes you'd have to watch, making or/and getting cosplay merch and presenting to other members.. I'm an in-closet anime fan and prefer not to stand out and just keep my opinion to myself to avoid hate or getting called names for thinking and doing things that others don't. I'd go to an anime convention, my whole heart is saying YES! Let's go!, but 1., money and 2., people. Socializing with others and asking for pictures from cosplayers or trying to buy something from artists. I'd 99,9% be considered a fucking weeb and they'd be angry that someone like me exists. Shit, now I'm just blabbering around.
Anyway, back to the question. Clubs/meetings? Only with people I consider as friends. Otherwise it's a no.

It's better this way.
A little lonelier,
but better.

Did go to one during my junior and senior high school years, and met some really cool people and watched some excellent series (Claymore and TTGL among them). Went to one in college twice during its first week in my second semester, but never went back because the president was a total creep. Later he made the news for molesting multiple teenage girls while employed as a youth minister.

WRT to conventions, went to three cons across my high-school senior and freshman college years, though I did not cosplay, and never would. Was lucky enough to have a friend willing to come with (though he was far more into gaming than anime), because I think it would have been pretty awkward to go alone.

no because the people there are more in terms of wanting to be Japanese then the actual liking of anime.

No, there's no anime club at my school. I don't think there's any club at all. I wouldn't join a club even if there was one though...

I tried to go to one once when I was a freshman and it was the worst experience ever. 60% of them were super loud and obnoxious and while the others would just not interact at all and just play on their 3DSs.
Are we really gonna make it..?
