After Fate/stay night, Detective Conan is the next victim of the trend "Let's make a cooking show from something entirely different!".
Yes, there were some cooking themed episodes in the past but they weren't so focused on food and tasting it.

is it worth watching the anime ?

1. Are you reading the manga (not in your list)?
If yes, you may skip the anime (I am following both but encountered the anime first.)
2. What kind of anime do you like?
This here is a detective title but also has some shounen stuff in it and some idiosyncraticies like the MC turning into kid, he is forced to mingle with kids and manipulate adults doing some detective work for him, other characters also tuned into kids, immortals, sinister secret organization ect...and some romance too.
If you are interested only in teenage detective stories, Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo is also an option - no sci-fi or conspiracies in it. If you can't find the first season or only some episodes from it you can go on without the missing ones. It is mostly episodic show in distinction of Detective Conan which has some really big and complicated overarching mysteries.

I enjoy it, though it has alot of filler episodes, I find that often some of the filler are better then non filler, so it's hit or miss, plus you get about 30/70 filler to non filler. I say give it a shot, I've been working on this for 3 months and a bit, and doing 3+ a day.
