Emilia being the real villain sounds like an even more sadistic way to break Subaru. Also it sounds like it would end the story real quick because Subaru would lose his motivation...maybe? |

Make him try hard af to find out why she's doing all this + try to redeem her. Tbh it sounds like the best way to torture him and yet not break him if I were the villain. |

Plot hole or something to be explained afterwards...? Rather than her being aware of multiple timelines, I wager she is merely aware there is more to Subaru than she can literally comprehend. He's always talking about past occurrences in front of her, and she has likely accepted that there's more to it than the delusions of a crazy man, which is why she helps him when she really has no reason to do such, since she realizes this is probably for the best. |

I guess my problem with this show is I find the main character to be obnoxious and annoying. I get that he's going through hardships and suffering alone but his core personality just puts me off. The show just centers on him too much. The supporting cast isn't given a chance to really carry any of the load. The genre savvy style of character that he is was done so much better on Konasuba. Subaru just isn't funny or charming to me. He's a large ham. Large hams work to me as supporting characters but as the main character their antics wear on me very fast. It would be like Full Metal Alchemist with Major Armstrong as the main character. |

I disagree about the claim of baiting, or even off topic, but w.e. My opinion is unchanged. Moving on, I'm interested in what will occur in the village. You could always, y'know, open a new thread about this. Just saying. Same here, but I'm still holding on to the theory that the village is a red herring and the real villain here is Emilia. Meh, it's not that important, besides opening an entire thread after everyone got all emotional seems much more baiting to me than anything I said. I didn't even say all people who like lolis are pedos like I was accused of, nor is being a pedo necessarily even evil or anything since it's merely a sexual preference but w.e.... I guess the real villain could be Emilia, but I'm sort of confused about what her reasoning would be to go through all of this, plus it seems too plain to say the hair colour and elf stuff makes her the witch. Too easy. I mean clearly whoever is behind Subaru's powers is the villain imo, and if so I don't quite see what Subaru has done in this anime helping Emelia that couldn't have been done by Emelia without Subaru if she had such powers. |

Barusu letting it all out on Emilia's lap was much needed and sad to see. The emotional impact behind reliving life so many times only to be betrayed or see your most loved ones die, or die yoursef because no one trusts you, is very harsh. Gives me Stein;Gate vibes with how Okabe had to experience the negative effects of time travel. On the brighter side Barusu is pretty damn lucky getting to go on a lil shopping date with the cutest maids of all time Ram and Rem. |

After this episode, I lost some faith in this show. Subaru is literally getting dumber and dumber by each episode and his fake act this episode was annoying to say the least. We all know what he intends to do, but his actions, especially this episode, was idiotic. Obviously, he wants to earn the trust of the sisters as well as save everyone from the shaman, but how does acting like a complete psycho accomplish that exactly? If anything, I would assume the sisters would be more suspicious about Subaru especially when he revealed how he knew the location of the vase. Also, how is Subaru asking twin drills about curses and Puck about shadow magic not setting off any red flags in their heads. Sure, Subaru has memories of them, but he is basically a stranger to twin drills and she basically told him everything she knows without a second thought not to mention the fact that he has free access to the library. I really hope Subaru returns to what he was in the first few episodes instead of staying as a airhead who has a crush on a princess.. |

I don't know how they can stand to be around him. I can barely stand to watch him at times as he's hamming it up. I mainly watch this show because of the mystery his interactions with those women are painful to watch. This guy is declaring his love for people he hasn't even known a full week. He's known Emilia a single day longer than he's known Rem and Ram. I get that he's had some cycles in there but declaring his love for any of them out loud should be enough for them to think he's insane. Actually thinking he loves people he knows very little about just because he's had some interactions with them tells me he is insane. Is that supposed to be a NEET thing? He was starved from human interaction so long he instantly falls in love with people? |

I think his mistakes were based on a mental breakdown, rather than his intelligence. Basically he freaked out. It's not like he acted like a psycho because he thought it was smart. He only asked about shadow magic after Puck told him that's the element he had affinity with, I believe it would be sensible to ask about it under such a circumstance. Why would asking about curses set off more red flags if he already smells like the witch? I mean if he really is working with the witch you'd assume he'd know about curses already. |

WOW they messed up my lap pillow scene.....I've been waiting for that scene all week 2. In the Manga the feels hit extremely hard on that scene and they made it seem lame. At least they did the wake up scene well. "No sir I think your birth was a mistake." Coldest line EVER Haha. All the anime additions were pretty nice as well. This is shaping up good, still had to give it a 4 due to the fact that I was expecting more from it. Also glad to see Emelia get more screen time this episode <3 |

Holy crap this is one of my favorite series (so far) and I find myself giddy every Sunday while I wait for the episode. I like how we see a side of Subaru we never have before, as all the pressure finally gets to him, and although none of the other characters know why he's so scatter-brained, I think this is best shown when Emilia has Subaru on her lap, and she's just blindly agreeing with Subaru and his cries of pain to comfort him. No cliffhanger, but I think I'm still in suspense just to see what's going to happen next. As this series has taught us, happy moments are few and far between, so something is almost destined to go wrong next episode. |

He has a very limited amount of interaction with any of them. Any normal sane person after having that time loop where one of them killed him would bail on that mansion immediately. I'm hoping this show gets off the current cycle and actually gets into the real plot soon. Maybe we can get some of the cast members that aren't in this arc like the swordsman back in the picture too. The whole point of loops was for him to get to know twins and build bonds with them which he assuredly did. He basically spent entire month with them where they brought stability to his life when he had nothing and taught him various things on live in their world. This wasn't something they had to do and so of course he's grateful and considered them important people. if NEET (which he isn't) has anything to do with that pretty pathetic and twisted way of thinking. And no he never hits on any of maids, that crap icame out of your ass. And frankly if you don't care about the characters, and disregard their interactions then drop it. All those thing consider pointless or bad are core of the series. |

Also glad to see Emelia get more screen time this episode <3 I was expecting it to go full emo/suicidal like last week but i mean it was nice. |

Wait first off I have to address your double WTF. It won't matter if it was adapted from the manga or not by transitive property they are one in the same. If the manga and the anime were both adapted from the LN then the anime and the manga are indirect adaptations of eachother. If A=B and A=C then B=C moving on from the math. To address the scene Lana said it best, it wasn't as heavy of a setting. The build-up going in to lap pillow was his inner struggle of being perfection and second guessing everything. It didn't display his inner struggle with himself leading to the meltdown point that was the lap pillow scene. Music was a minor thing but didn't emphasize the heavy mood at all. Resulting in the scene we have here which didn't make me feel sad for him. When you read it you get choked up, then you watch it he just seems kind of soft. I'm not saying the scene was bad, it just didn't live up to the expectations for me is all. |

Bout the lap scene and people saying it would have been better in a heavy mood, I disagree. That scene is supposed to let Subaru unwind and break down into a sobbing mess in Emilia's warmth, and it portrayed that pretty well. If it had been done in a darker, heavier way, I don't think it would have felt like Subaru was getting his respite via Emilia aka his Jesus. |

You and me both, hopefully that doesnt happen this time around, that lap pillow was too beautiful to just get thrown out the window like that. It's so sad but I don't have a single doubt in my mind that he's gonna die again. That's his ability. That's what the plot is centred around. My poor boy T-T. .... Although he could make it past as a checkpoint and then end up dying constantly again but with the events of this episode still in play. (Hopefully) But wow that look Rem gave him. Girl looks ready to kill. I hope the twins don't gang up on him or something when they go to the village. |

In the manga when reading his inner thoughts of doubt it built you up for the scene it was written well that way. You could feel all the pressure and weight of being perfect being let off him as Emilia acted as comfort for him. Here it was like well he feels sick from working hard and Boom Lap pillow scene. I just didn't feel that same sorrow for him because I didn't relate with his struggle that wasn't depicted here. Thoughts? Chapter 13 page 18 is pretty much what I am referring to. Re-reading it you could really feel him cracking and then he broke down to Emilia. It just didn't feel that way at all when watching it this episode. Also the flash in his mind about the eyes wasn't there to drill home the point. |

True, it got better as he developed into a more well-rounded character. But at first it really was quite off-putting, especially because it seemed to be shoe-horned in just to make him different from the likes of Kirito and co. If not, please do take a few hours to look around. We take pride in being able to derail threads far beyond human comprehension. What are you talking about talking about, whether or not Shirou tripped over an invisible rock may have been the most important debate of our life times, I mean there's a reason there was 20+ pages of debate spilling over into 2 separate episode discussions iirc. Since we're nearing the end of the Arc, I'm thinking(praying) that he'll survive because all these moments could serve as cornerstones for his relations going forward, then again this author is a sadist. |

Phew. Damn. Aaaanyway. A calm before the storm... or was it really? While it was SoL, we saw Subaru basically collapsing under pressure as he tunes his genresavvyness too high to hide his feeling of impeding doom. In his attempt to bond with everyone, he actually caused the opposite effect (proven with how Rem acts around him, and Roswaal's instruction for Ram to keep Rem in check), until Emillia removed the cap from the bottle where he forced his feelings up. Emillia's words also apparently convinced Rem that Subaru's not the one Rem's afraid of being. Subaru's attuned to shadow element? I'm not surprised, considering his apparent connection to the Witch (that hand). It will also be interesting to see where that leads to. Especially as debuffs combo well with close combat. I also like how Ram and Rem started to tease Subaru about lap pillow. And I love how Ram casually said "you'll have two beautiful flowers", to which Subaru replies with "I hope those flowers aren't poisonous", referring to his deaths in 2nd and especially 3rd loop. And I love Ram's smug smile. Really. Dat smug smile... there is a lot of teasing to come. Also, we got quite a lot of world building, we saw why is Emillia reluctant to go to the village ("half elf with long silver hair", no, people would not mistake her for practically the devil of their world, not at all), and it seems that that black dog is indeed the source of the curse. In the ep4 Subaru explicitely mentioned that he "was bit by a small animal", and we see in the ep5 (next loop) that a dog bit him. In ep6 he didn't go shopping with Rem, and was killed by twins before we saw anything about the curse, and in ep7 it was Rem who died from the curse on the same day (after she went shopping). Yangbo said: After this episode, I lost some faith in this show. Pressure. People under pressure are bound to make mistakes; more experienced people make much less mistakes. And the greater the pressure, the more chances to screw up appear. To combat that pressure, Subaru cranked up his idiot act to 11, which had an opposite effect from what he wanted to achieve - something he didn't think of. His subsequent becoming sick of himself, barfing, and then completely breaking up shows just how much he was under pressure, trying to make everything right. Yangbo said: Also, how is Subaru asking twin drills about curses and Puck about shadow magic not setting off any red flags in their heads. Sure, Subaru has memories of them, but he is basically a stranger to twin drills and she basically told him everything she knows without a second thought not to mention the fact that he has free access to the library. His conversation about magic with Puck was a small talk imo - it's completely normal that he'll become curious about magic. He has already shown how little of the world he actually knows (not in this loop to Roswaal, Ram and Rem, but earlier to Emillia and Puck), so it's not something the two should raise a flag about. As for Beatrice, she's already aware that something's off about Subaru. First, he's still emitting witch's scent which she has shown that she can pick immediatelly. Second, he breaks through her Door Crossing too easily. Third, he's constantly talking about his past events in front of her... too precise and detailed for it to be dismissed as a ramblings of the mad person. Fourth, she drained his whole mana once. Remember how in ep4 Puck said to Lia that Subaru's not a bad person? I'm sure spirits have some way to detect intentions of a mere human. Really, thick-headness of some people here is starting to get on my nerves... it's as bad as ufoUBW... no, screw it, it's worse, because unlike ufotable, White Fox delivered here perfectly in each and every episode. OneTrueEmiya said: AivanK said: After the last episode, Beatrice is one the best characters in my opinion. She is always helping him and sometimes punches him too xD I was actually thinking about this: Beatrice seems to be aware of multiple Subaru timelines, but she hasn't acted differently even after last episode. Plot hole or something to be explained afterwards...? And here's a face I didn't want to see... still didn't let go of your idiocy, did you, Emiya Shirou? Well, I guess that's to be expected; after all, you can't even season food correctly. OOC No, Beako is not aware of multiple timelines (proven how she mentioned in several loops how "they only met twice", referring to the mana drain meeting and current meeting), however she is aware that something's off with Subaru, especially as he carries the witch's scent yet looks like a total idiot. That's why she's casually answering him the questions about magic and curses and why she's helping him. |
