some shows got aged very well and some series aged very poorly. but still infact, there is big inflation over the years. you can check it HERE.

what is your opinion how score on mal change over the years?
what is your opinioni ranking on mal changing over the years?
how about your opinion about particular series aged over the years?

OT:
what is your opinion how score on mal change over the years?
the inflation of overal top score sure surprising. i am surprised samurai x ova is the first one that can reach 9 point. now 9 point look like cheap things.
what is your opinioni ranking on mal changing over the years?
the top ranking extreamly change over the years. that's pretty surprising to see.
how about your opinion about particular series aged over the years?
> kinda sad how almighty one piece and bleach has fallen.
> suzumiya haruhi aged pretty bad. probably second season really killed it. movie look not helping their previous series. the movies it self aged pretty bad.
> cowboy bebop, Ippo, mushishi, and kino aged extreamly well.
> school rumble season 3 really killed the series.

Here is a more convenient imgur album of the top anime throughout the years: http://imgur.com/a/lytXj

The inflation is related to the increased amount of 10-to-everything noobs entering the site as MAL is the #1 popularity site of its kind.

Top rankings haven't changed that much ever since Steins;Gate or so.

Every old anime you hear about aged well.
Most old anime you never hear about weren't that good to start with, so in a way they also aged well.

I remember when I saw a picture of (I think) MAL's 2007 top list and number one was death note, but the score was like an 8.9 something. This leads me to believe that more and more people are rating series higher, which isn't a problem to me, but I think the whole "7 means average because my school tells me a 70% is average" doesn't have to apply to how you feel about entertainment.

what is your opinion ranking on mal changing over the years?
I haven't used MAL for that long and was only aware of its existence about a year ago. However, I have seen timeline pics of its ever changing top 50 list and I am not that surprised. However, I think at one point ouran host club was in the top 10 and I was just sittin there like "why?".

So if this questions means "how do you feel about a particular series you watched before compared to watching it now?", I would say my opinion has changed greatly. As a kid my favorite anime movie was akira, and my favorite anime series was hellsing, inuyasha, and some other shit. This was mainly because I wasn't allowed to use stream shows or movies on a computer during middle school and high school, so I was limited to what I was able to watch. Obviously, My top series are completely different from what I liked before, but I do believe that I would maybe like them in a similar way as I did before. I also don't view sailor moon or inuyasha in as high regards as I did before.

All I know is that Neon Genesis Evangelion and Texhnolyze deserve to be way higher than their rank right now.

Also if we take a look at the number of votes for each series this tells a lot about its rating.

Gintama is now #1, I like Gintama, but its 15K votes, Compared to other shows with more than 300K.
Death Note with about 600K, Code Geass 400K. That's a lot of votes, and to manage and keep a high rating with those number of votes indicates that they rightfully earned their place.

I haven't seen enough NGE to state otherwise (I like it thus far though), but I do agree that I am surprised by how low texhnolyze is ranked.
However, regardless of its score it is still a great show, so I don't have much to complain about.
Judging by what most people say they enjoy I can understand why Tex has the score it has, even though I think it's great.

I think death note being in the top 10 was the biggest troll for this site. How can people like edgy shows like this without any loli and moe ?

This sites rankings were total joke before 2010. That's when Clannad AS, Gintama and Steins;Gate came to save anime

I think you're failing to difference between useless fillers and actual character development. For executing a story like S;G properly, it was necessary to get attached to the characters and that's what the first half did.

@tragedydesu, Welcome to the truth. Well no one cares about moe anymore tbh but loli is a must.

So you're telling me everyone thought the first FMA was good until Brohood came out and then they started downvoting it because "muh adaptations."

Tbh I'm not even surprised just disappointed.
every single one of my forum posts is dumb and invalid except for 1, I don't claim them it was a different person it was all fake

Generally speaking, I agree.
A lot of people ignore the fact that there were a bunch of shitty anime series made before our time.
This is one of the main reasons I focus on the overall series instead of comparing old vs new, because there were just as many "bad" series as there are now. Same with the ratio of "good" series as well.

what is your opinion how score on mal change over the years?

Not really been using MAL or taken enough interest of my time here to really give an opinion.

what is your opinioni ranking on mal changing over the years?

Again not really been using MAL enough to know, but from the older rankings I've seen its not really surprising that the top anime has changed over the years. Times change and so does people's taste in anime over the years while more people being around to score animes.

how about your opinion about particular series aged over the years?

Most older anime I've seen are still good (Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Lucky Star etc) its just that the visuals don't stand the test of time. Which isn't surprising considering how quickly things improve from a technological so the art for anime suffers the older it gets. However, in terms of story, characters etc they would be just as good now and I wouldn't be surprised to see some older anime get remade with up-to-date visuals in the coming years and keep getting remade forever.

Please tell me you're joking.

As for the previous ratings, I was a bit surprised to see how much the scores have increased today. If people continue to rate too generously, high MAL scores will be devalued and the rankings will be less useful a tool.

Wow. OP's sample top list from 2006 actually looks good. What a shock.

Still, even since I've frequented the forums here it seems like the top list only continues to get worse, with crap like Shigatsu seeping in and Gintama taking up an even more obnoxiously large number of slots (regardless of its overall justification in ranking).

I would say it's a combination of recency bias, the larger number of casual watchers that came with MAL's increase in popularity, and the increased inflation in ratings that came with the popularity.

Don't get me wrong though; it's not a terrible top list even now. I just don't care for the current taste trend.

My observation from this is that scores for hyped anime have gone down gradually and only the ones with legit substance have prevailed.

I love how NHK was rated 8.01 & Suzumiya Haruhi 8.68 back then. Look where they are now.

MAL ratings are growing higher and higher because more people are refusing to rate on complete scales. I don't know why, but it just is.

And now another incarnation of Gintama has just smashed its way to #1 with a whopping score of 9.33. Come back in a few years and we'll be flirting in the 9.50s.
