So far Higashi no Eden has referenced a ton of movies even though only three episodes are out. I assume the references will continue throughout the series so I thought it'd be good to make a thread to note these references as we find them.

Episode 1
The Bourne Identity
Taxi Driver
Eagle Eye

Episode 2
The Lion King
Ground Zero
Kate & Leopold

Episode 3
Dawn of the Dead
Scarface
Le Grand Bleu
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso

Episode 4
Le Grand Bleu
Quadrophenia

Episode 5
Possible reference to Catherine Tramell in Basic Instincts

Episode 6
???

Episode 7
???

Episode 8
???

Episode 9
???

Episode 10
???

Episode 11
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Ep 2 references

The Lion King
Ground Zero

A Meg Ryan movie with a bridge in it
And that last scene is also definitely referencing something.
Peace through Superior Firepower!

Are you using some kind of advanced logic I don't know about? Have you decided to assign new meanings to English words? Are you just intentionally burning a straw man and knowing full well that you're changing the subject and misrepresenting a claim?

The Meg Ryan movie with a bidge in it could possibly be Kate & Leopold?

According to a review on amazon...
"The initial scene takes place at a ceremony in which Washington Roeblings, the engineer who built the Brooklyn Bridge and son of the man who designed it, is dedicating the completion of the second tower of the bridge."

In episode 2 the Meg Ryan movie is "Kate and Leopold". Ryan played Kate, Hugh Jackman played Leopold. It's a romance comedy.

I like how they've referenced alot of classic movies like that. It's pretty cool to see them have Taxi Driver references and mention Romero's Dawn of the Dead

The new Selecao may be a reference to Sharon Stone's character in Basic Instincts.

That's probably just something it seems like or is similar to rather than an actual reference.

I wonder if they'll get sued, like Hayate no Gotoku! sensoring all the character names J.C staff or whichever company didn't own that was mentioned. I just wish it won't because somehow the movie references can be accounted as a bit of a charm to Eden of the East to me.

Takizawa says in Episode 1 when he thinks he's been setup to look like a terrorist that it reminds him of a movie, and that is the catalyst for Eagle Eye so it's relevant.

when Kondou points his finger and says "bang" (also in the ED), that happens in the movie Crank by actor Jason Stathom. he points his finger like a gun, says bang, and the people get shot.

not sure if crank got it from some other movie, or if it originates from there.

I somehow doubt that the creators of Higashi no Eden would want to reference such a mediocre movie. Then again, they reference Kate and Leopold, so...

That's not the only series that does it. Shows like Gintama, and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei do, too. Most shows do it, I assume. Often it's used as a cheap, quick gag reference, but with Eden, it's not. Most of the movie titles that were mentioned help the audience feel at ease, and familiar with everything. None of the movie titles were censored, and they don't need to be. They're not being parodied for cheap laughs, it's a genuine reference. A number of novels/other movies/etc make references to other movies, and they don't get sued.
