Attack on Titan
| After all the hype, the hate, and the scrutiny SnK has received, it has secured(?) a spot in MAL's top anime. So, how do you think does it fare against the others in terms of themes, cast, art direction, music, etc? My thoughts: Discuss away. |

Are you insinuating that FMAB, Code Geass and Death Note are MAL's top anime? And how are you factoring in what MAL's top anime is? Because I didn't really think Death Note was all that great, same with Code Geass. FMA:B was ok but it felt like a show for kids. |
| As hype dies down it will probably slip down a bit, it really deserves to anyway. Most new anime follow this routine on MAL, especially when they are this hyped, SAO anyone? |

| All the anime in the top 10 on MAL are different. The end. With that said, I'd wait a week or so before concluding SnK has secured a spot in the top 10. IIRC, SAO peaked at 8.7 - 8.9. I don't exactly remember, but as you can see from its score now, it has dropped from that peak. SnK might end up the same. We wont know until then. Heck, SnK was at 9.01 yesterday and it's at 9.00 now. |

| In the last days, SnK has jumped from 8.96-8.97 to 9.00-9.01. It seems the hype is still here. |

| first of all, CGR2 doesn't even deserve to be in the top 100, so who cares about the top anime |

| Lol I don't see this going very well, but I'll do it just for shits. Ignoring ones that I haven't seen and putting very little thought into this: Steins;Gate: Far superior in every way. Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki: Hard to compare since it's a movie, but still far superior excluding soundtrack. Spirited Away: Not even worth comparing SNK to this. Gurren Lagann: Better imo, more over the top and enjoyable and somehow had more meaningful speaches. Cowboy Bebop: Not even close. Fate Zero S2: I enjoyed them a similar amount. I'd say about equal. Death Note: Again, maybe the soundtrack in SNK was better. GTO: Hard to compare, but I enjoyed GTO far more. Mushishi: Aways meant to finish this, but the episodes I watchd were better than SNK. Mononoke Hime: Another movie, another better anime. Hotarubi no Mori e: I liked this one, but it's overrated. I'd say SNK is beter. |

| I will not take any part in this. While I think SNK deserves an 8.5/10, the real 10/10 animes beat SNK. SNK ain't 10/10 material. 9/10 is the best it can get IMO. |
| Deconstruction ≠ Darker & Edgier Trope ≠ Cliché (Face it, nothing is completely original. Can't make something from nothing so to say.). Fanservice ≠ Ecchi (Though ecchi can please the fans!) Popular ≠ Sucks... maybe Seinen = K-ON! Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen and Josei are demographics. Anime/Manga = Japanese Cartoons! Deal with it. Support Movember. Raise awareness of men's health issues. | I don't think comparing SnK to other "top anime" as far as the Top 100 list on MAL goes is relevant in any way... If you wanted to make any legitimate comparisons, it would be how SnK faired against other anime that had the same amount of hype going into them pre-release. Even in that, you could only judge the production (animation, soundtrack, script) to differentiate them, and it would have to be objective. Point is, it's never going to happen. Everyone will argue for their personal favorites, and it will just become a battle of the biggest fan base. |
