See this is a hard decision for me. If I had a daughter who was gay, I would really hate the possibility of her becoming a butch feminist, but on other hand I wouldn't want a son who is effeminate. I think men should be men, but that's not to say there aren't any manly gay men out there, I just haven't seen any. I suppose my conclusion would be that I'd rather have a feminine gay daughter than a feminine gay son but I'd rather have a manly gay son than a manly gay daughter. The preference doesn't lie in their gayness, but how they portray their gayness. Shit.

So rather than being homophobic, you are instead being sexist towards both genders?

Nice.

I'm neither sexist nor homophobic.

What you are saying here is that you want your son to behave like a man, and your daughter to behave like a women. Basically you want them to fulfill their gender stereotypes. Isn't that sexist?

Of course sexuality influences your life. Stereotypes don't exist within a vacuum.

I never even implied they were 100% true, stop twisting my words.

Kitchens can't have internet connections? But no, I don't cook.

Well, a white knighting feminist can look at it that way. I do believe a man should act like a man regardless of if he is gay or not.

Going with the male, because homosexual males tend to be nicer. Not to mention that he will be ridiculed so much that he'd try to hide it which would be awesome, I can live without the heart-wrenching knowledge that my son is a faggot. Oh and since he'd be insulted so much, he might try (and might be successful) in trying to be a full-fledged man.

First:red herring

Not a red herring. This discussion was handled in the other thread about homosexuality, about how people try to take the moral high ground by saying they're indifferent to it all, which just isn't true.

Yet another juicy thread I missed.
As much as I would like biological grandchildren, I'd be fairly OK with a gay kid of either gender.
The only stipulation is that they live up to my expectations: I'd expect my son to bring home a man and my daughter a woman.
No hairless Filipino boy with a lisp or flannel shirt-wearing lumberjack with tits.

That's one thing about homosexuality I've never been able to comprehend.
I'm dead. Don't come looking for me.

Gay people can still have biological children.

And do you think it's like even though they are attracted to a different sex they still find certain gender qualities attractive?(not sure if I'm saying that right) Like a gay guy may like guys but he likes feminine qualities hence the hairless Filipino, just like a lesbian could be attracted to a woman with masculine qualities hence the flannel shirt wearing lumberjack with no tits.

This is a silly comparison, but lets say you have two people; one rocking a mohawk and studded leather jacket, the other with jeans and a shirt. Which are you going to assume listens to Punk? The former. Even if it isn't necessarily true, you're so used to seeing this image being related with X and Y that you instantly connect them both together. What I'm trying to say is, not all of those guys with a lisp and waving wrists around are gay.

Also when you're part of a smaller group, some people get heavily engrossed into it. To give an example, most LGBT people I've met in person and online were by no means stereotypical, and none of them flaunt their sexuality or give too much thought about it. However, the few times I've gone to a gay bar out of curiosity, these stereotypes were somewhat more common.

Even in the LGBT "community", effeminate guys are the minority and most hated or misunderstood. I don't get where this idea that it's any different came from. Most straight guys hate effeminate guys, and most gay guys hate gay effeminate guys.

Obviously I'd prefer a gay daughter, just because that feeling that a man takes the virginity of your daughter must be terrible, and if he is a asshole, it would be worse.
