GuP!
29,951 first week, that's amazing!

Rabu Raibu noticed over 3k drop, I thought it would be smaller. On the other hand, it would feel wrong if LL sold more than Horizon so being just below seems right. If other volumes are consistent, there will still be a chance for 20k average.

0.5k drop for Darkness is worrying me, it was very consistent earlier, I hope it's because of Eva and second week will be bigger.

He forgot space at first. Is it that hard to look at other entries and compare the format?

GaruPan v4 vs SAO v7: 29,951 vs 26,715. Excellent... it finally surpassed SAO! And it shouldn't be finished quite yet as the next restock is on May 13, 2013...

Love Live! v2 is still at a similar ratio with Oricon vs Stalker as in v1 for 1st week sales.

Little Busters! v5 loses out to To Love-Ru v5 by a few hundred units again.

ViviPan v2 drops off quite a bit from v1. 6,348 vs 7,580 1st week.

Strong, above-average sales for the final Hyouka volume!

Very impressive it stayed so consistent split in 11 volumes.

Looks like Magi finally stopped dropping, it sold 10 more DVDs than last time. BD would need 3k more to rank though... hahaha, maybe A-1 will finally learn to not mess up the adaptation.
[edit]Actually, I messed up my numbers. Magi IS dropping. Last time DVD sold 3,219.

While I'm at it, thresholds for BDs are really high.

Jojo is doing great, it sold even more than previous vol. Maybe not on BDs but difference in DVDs is bigger. It's gonna be close to 20k as well.

Final volume of Hyouka notices the best first week sales. Ahh, I hope it manages to break 10k with help of mid-yearly list.

It's surely profitable but at the same time, much less than expected. Manabi Line doesn't mean much, it's just arbitrary point sales threads like to use. I think break-even point should be higher for Vividred, it looks amazing after all.

It used a lot of SFX and colors on the transformation scenes. Mind-boggling fees for electricity bills and budget for new computer fans should be haunting A1 pictures' studio by now.

i agree that cost of making an episode varies on the quality of an anime episode but the manabi line is still a decent estimator since 1 disc/volume cost around 70-90 dollars (for 2-3 episodes per disc) so 90,000 (average cost of making an anime episode) dollars times 2 episodes equals 180,000 dollars and divide that by 90 dollars for example and you get 2,000 copies needs to be sold each volume/disc so that is how they get the manabi line or average break-even point

but ye the manabi line is mainly use on average cost of anime episode production

Was hoping for higher sales out of Muromi-san's OP but still good to see it on the chart.

GaruPan v4 could have topped 30K if they'd had the stock. Must print faster...

LoveLive! v2 dropping as expected I guess but still doing well. Hopefully it will have a good tail.

Vividred Operation, such a wonderful production, glad to see it hasn't cratered but I hope it is enough to inspire s2 and the next season of Strike Witches :)

Little Busters! still can't beat Darkness but that's OK, still good numbers and Refrain is coming, right?

Big drop for Amnesia, will see if the BDs rank in this bloodbath of a week.

Have to wait for Thursday for Kokoroco and BTOOOM! final discs, Sukitte, TnK, Sakurasou, D.C.III

Holy shit, that's some mind-blowing sales.
BD
*2, *28,410 *28,410 Girls und Panzer vol.4
DVD
15, **1,541 **1,541 Girls und Panzer vol.4

As expected, the girls and their tanks are doing more than well. Panzer vor, ladies!
BD
*3, *21,849 *21,849 Sword Art Online vol.7 Limited Edition
DVD
*6, **4,866 **4,866 Sword Art Online vol.7 Limited Edition

Looks like the ALO arc isn't as well-received as some had hoped it'd be...
BD
*4, *15,249 *15,249 Love Live! School Idol Project vol.2 Limited Edition
*8, **7,309 **7,309 Hyouka vol.11 Limited Edition
*9, **7,289 **7,289 Little Busters! vol.5 Limited Edition
DVD
16, **1,438 **1,438 Little Busters! vol.5 Limited Edition
18, **1,068 **1,068 Hyouka vol.11 Limited Edition

All sales I'm quite fond of.

*2, *12,925 *12,925 Naruto: Shippuuden Movie 6 - Road to Ninja Limited Edition
*9, **2,314 **2,314 Naruto: Shippuuden Movie 6 - Road to Ninja Standard Edition

Even though that film follows the usual Naruto movie patterns, it's selling rather well. If sometime down the line I have too much time on my hands, I might give it a shot.
11, **5,515 **5,515 Vividred Operation vol.2 Limited Edition

Now look at that, mayonnaise is selling.
*8, **2,537 **2,537 Magi vol.5 Limited Edition

And last but certainly least- that's what you get for screwing up badly, A-1.

I don't think anyone has commented on it but Evangelion had a huge drop in sales.

2.22 opening week: 640,333
3.33 opening week: 433,668

It's dropped over 200k copies, or 32%.

Of course it's still four hundred and thirty frickin three thousand copies (and lol ¥5.2bn box office). But woah.
Seeing how 3.33 got extremely mixed reviews (during first weeks there were thousands of both 1/5 and 5/5) it's something we should expect but yeah, I thought it would sell better than 2.22 despite all the controversy or maybe even thanks to it. Result somewhat relieved me, it proved Japanese aren't blind Eva fanboys and when they get something bad, they'll refuse to buy it. I wonder how creators of 3.0 feel now.

I feel 4.0 will redeem the franchise in sales.

Whether or not the pile of questions in 3.0 are answered. (Timeskip, Misato being a bitch, Mari etc.)

Unless 4.0 isn't the end of rebuild, Anno might be trolling with us again. -_-

Magi v4 DVD was 3,219, this one is 2,537 so it's still dropping, and considerably.
Whoops, somehow I got DVDs and BDs (from sencond week) for Magi mixed up. You're right, it's still dropping, rapidly.

jmal said:
Of course it obviously is at 10k already if KyoAni shop sold even 200-300 per volume. But unfortunately that's not reported to Oricon so technically it can't count.
Would you count it toward final average if KyoAni announced in few months that their shop sold, let's say, 3k copies of Hyouka which would mean +273?

If you look at the underestimation of Love Live!:

v1 sold 73.84% more than Stalker predicted (18,429 vs 10,601 Stalker)
v2 sold 78.71% more than Stalker predicted (15,249 vs *8,533 Stalker)

It is actually doing better than what I would have been predicted as the drop to be. v3 is still 27 days to release (Stalker predicts 10,026)... but hopefully if it continues to rank consistently, then it is set to sell considerably better than v2 anyway.

Probably numb from swimming in box office revenue all day. But yeah, dropping 200k DVD/BD won't feel good.

I imported this one blind on the strength of 2.0, not sure if that was a good choice... I didn't hate it, but I wasn't excited by it and only gave it a 7/10 compared to a 8 for 1.0 and 9 for 2.0. I'll probably need to hold off ordering 4.0 until after I've seen it now.

It's not a horrible movie, but it was certainly disappointing for me. You will probably be scratching your head at the rationale of some characters. My scores for the rebuild movies are exactly the same as jmal.

Weekly light novel releases (from 20/10/2014)
Monthly light novel sales ranks (from Jan 2015)
Bestselling light novel volumes of the year/all time* (and more in the same club).

I did say I didn't hate it. Watch it for yourself, for sure, because I have talked to people who really liked it. I just was pretty disappointed after how much I enjoyed 2.0.
agree, 2.0 was amazing. But this 3.0 was good too... but not good as 2.0

Evangelion too stronk!

Glad to see Hyouka's final volume starting with a strong first week. This series has been so incredibly consistent!

Last but not least, TLRD.. one more volume before I can finally watch it. Almost there! T_T

Love Live vol 2 dropped in sales as expected due to restocking issue and other reasons I have mentioned before. Vol 2 is a really great deal since the Blu-ray itself should have worthed double the price. They included about an hour of the recent Muse's live concert!! People who are saving money for other shows this season are actually missing out :)

Evangelion 3.0 sales went down a lot since the spectale that is 2.0 Well, I watched 3.0 and thought it's pretty convoluted with almost everyone acting out of character. The reviews are mixed so this drop in sale is explainable. Hopefully, things will come toghether at the end of 4.0. Thus, people should not hold reservations on buying 4.0 because 3.0 turns out not as expected.

A "hopefully" doesn't automatically lead to a "thus" though... I also "hope" 4.0 will be better, but just hoping for it won't necessarily make it so. Most likely I'll end up buying it, but I don't plan on pre-ordering it blind again. I'd rather watch it first and make sure it gets better not worse.

Let's me be more assertive and change that to: it "will" get better. Evangelion is similar to many movie series where the middle part is usually the weakest, such as The Lords of the Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc. The story is being told in sequence so many questions are left unanswered. This leads to certain events looking too disjointed or ambiguous for viewers to enjoy. Evangelion amplifies this problem because it is a philosophical surreal hot-mess (which I like) to begin with XD

Anyhow, regardless of how 4.0 turns out, I'm sure you and many other people will buy it. Just the visual orgasm is worth the money. More importantly, serious anime geeks cannot pass a chance of owing a full collection when they have had three out of four :)

Despite the drop from 2.22 to 3.33, Eva still did quite impressive.

Vividred seemed to drop quite a lot. Makes me wonder about the possibility of a season two, or if that possibility is even still in the air.

Hyouka still running strong, yes, very good.
