GuP! 29,951 first week, that's amazing! Rabu Raibu noticed over 3k drop, I thought it would be smaller. On the other hand, it would feel wrong if LL sold more than Horizon so being just below seems right. If other volumes are consistent, there will still be a chance for 20k average. 0.5k drop for Darkness is worrying me, it was very consistent earlier, I hope it's because of Eva and second week will be bigger. |

Love Live! v2 is still at a similar ratio with Oricon vs Stalker as in v1 for 1st week sales. Little Busters! v5 loses out to To Love-Ru v5 by a few hundred units again. ViviPan v2 drops off quite a bit from v1. 6,348 vs 7,580 1st week. |

Looks like Magi finally stopped dropping, it sold 10 more DVDs than last time. BD would need 3k more to rank though... hahaha, maybe A-1 will finally learn to not mess up the adaptation. [edit]Actually, I messed up my numbers. Magi IS dropping. Last time DVD sold 3,219. While I'm at it, thresholds for BDs are really high. Jojo is doing great, it sold even more than previous vol. Maybe not on BDs but difference in DVDs is bigger. It's gonna be close to 20k as well. Final volume of Hyouka notices the best first week sales. Ahh, I hope it manages to break 10k with help of mid-yearly list. |

I think break-even point should be higher for Vividred, it looks amazing after all. i agree that cost of making an episode varies on the quality of an anime episode but the manabi line is still a decent estimator since 1 disc/volume cost around 70-90 dollars (for 2-3 episodes per disc) so 90,000 (average cost of making an anime episode) dollars times 2 episodes equals 180,000 dollars and divide that by 90 dollars for example and you get 2,000 copies needs to be sold each volume/disc so that is how they get the manabi line or average break-even point but ye the manabi line is mainly use on average cost of anime episode production |

Was hoping for higher sales out of Muromi-san's OP but still good to see it on the chart. GaruPan v4 could have topped 30K if they'd had the stock. Must print faster... LoveLive! v2 dropping as expected I guess but still doing well. Hopefully it will have a good tail. Vividred Operation, such a wonderful production, glad to see it hasn't cratered but I hope it is enough to inspire s2 and the next season of Strike Witches :) Little Busters! still can't beat Darkness but that's OK, still good numbers and Refrain is coming, right? Big drop for Amnesia, will see if the BDs rank in this bloodbath of a week. Have to wait for Thursday for Kokoroco and BTOOOM! final discs, Sukitte, TnK, Sakurasou, D.C.III |

Result somewhat relieved me, it proved Japanese aren't blind Eva fanboys and when they get something bad, they'll refuse to buy it. I wonder how creators of 3.0 feel now.I don't think anyone has commented on it but Evangelion had a huge drop in sales. 2.22 opening week: 640,333 3.33 opening week: 433,668 It's dropped over 200k copies, or 32%. Of course it's still four hundred and thirty frickin three thousand copies (and lol ¥5.2bn box office). But woah. |

Love Live vol 2 dropped in sales as expected due to restocking issue and other reasons I have mentioned before. Vol 2 is a really great deal since the Blu-ray itself should have worthed double the price. They included about an hour of the recent Muse's live concert!! People who are saving money for other shows this season are actually missing out :) Evangelion 3.0 sales went down a lot since the spectale that is 2.0 Well, I watched 3.0 and thought it's pretty convoluted with almost everyone acting out of character. The reviews are mixed so this drop in sale is explainable. Hopefully, things will come toghether at the end of 4.0. Thus, people should not hold reservations on buying 4.0 because 3.0 turns out not as expected. |

A "hopefully" doesn't automatically lead to a "thus" though... I also "hope" 4.0 will be better, but just hoping for it won't necessarily make it so. Most likely I'll end up buying it, but I don't plan on pre-ordering it blind again. I'd rather watch it first and make sure it gets better not worse. Let's me be more assertive and change that to: it "will" get better. Evangelion is similar to many movie series where the middle part is usually the weakest, such as The Lords of the Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc. The story is being told in sequence so many questions are left unanswered. This leads to certain events looking too disjointed or ambiguous for viewers to enjoy. Evangelion amplifies this problem because it is a philosophical surreal hot-mess (which I like) to begin with XD Anyhow, regardless of how 4.0 turns out, I'm sure you and many other people will buy it. Just the visual orgasm is worth the money. More importantly, serious anime geeks cannot pass a chance of owing a full collection when they have had three out of four :) |
