A serious answer to your question: Love is a subjective concept.

if i had to quantify it
a random biological feeling
(or not so random, you can lock yourself in a room with someone you hate you'll find you like them)

if i activate my inner romantic-something everyone needs to live

It depends what kind of love you're talking about.
Love between family members is both learned and biological.
Love between a man and a woman is a combination of lust and other factors which make you compatible as a couple.

I was looking for an emotional answer rather than a logical one (after all love is illogical), I'm not looking to simplify it, perhaps I should have made this clear in the OP post.

Hmmm, the real question is: why does it need to be defined? As long as we can feel it, that's all that matters right? I've always been up for asking questions and seeking answers, but I don't think this one was meant to be.

But the even realer question is, why can't it be defined? Especially when it is so vivid.

Love is chemical reactions in your brain, randomly designed through evolution in order to foster a lasting bond between two people, thus increasing their chances of survivng and rearing healthy children to pass down their genes.
That's the only answer.

Love is lending a girl your sweater when she's cold. Love is driving across the country to give her chicken noodle soup when she has a cold. Love is taking notes in class, not because you normally do, but because she's not there and needs them. Peace. Love. Abercrombie.

I'm not even kidding, if you always bring chocolate with you, whenever you go to meet a girlfriend/wife etc, your relationship will be at least 30% better.

Unless she's on a diet.

Sir, just indulge me for a second.

But why do you feel the need to even say that.

Because it's widely believe that love can't really be explained...you even said it yourself.

And yet apparently you believe you know it enough to say you don't have it?

I, uh, usually don't take GD topics very seriously, but this one is one I feel like I can, uh, really get into, so I'd like to go ahead and say a few words. You know, uh, love is really quite inexplicable, I think it's different for everyone but then again it's the same for all of us, and there are many types of love. For me, uh, I think I experience the kind of love that is beyond any other kind, and, uh, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Many of us know that feeling when, uh, our heart is racing just because the simple thought of that one important person comes to mind, and, uh, when you see that person and/or hear that person, it feels like you might explode because that person's presence still overwhelms you. Maybe I'm not quite wording it right, but, uh, hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to say, and knows that feeling when, uh, you log on MAL and there she is, in that coveted top favorite character spot waiting for you like always, or a new chapter of her manga comes out after waiting a month since the last, or that amazing feel when an anime is finally announced and airs. The love for a waifu is really something unrivaled.

Love...

Love is the tie
That can never be broken
Even at times
When hurts are unspoken
Love can bring out
The hurt deep inside;
Love can comfort
The small faint cry
Of a heart that is broken
In need of repair
Love has now awoken
The inner depth we share
Feelings are futile
When being compared
To real, genuine love
That is evident here.

oi, and i thought i was going to sound gushy

for me, early love makes you feel like you are walking on air and nothing can bring you down. its amazing.

as it develops, if its real, it means you have devoted yourself to taking care of someone, and creating a life together.

as we all know, divorce statistics say part two is bullshit. hehe.

If you're looking for an emotional definition, then you'll never find one. Love is undefinable. You can't control it any more than you can control the passage of time.

The basis of love is throwing away your rationality to ensure someone else is happy at any price.

Toss in some emotional trauma, sex, and a bit of self purpose and you basically got it covered.
