Alexstratz said: I find the OVA much better than the series. All the sketches were pretty much funny and entertaining, they made me laugh much more than an average episode of LS.
Exactly what I was going to say. Okay, not exactly, but similar.
The mmorpg part was awesome, I could have seriously watched a whole series about just that and enjoy it. Many other parts had random Lucky Star goodness in them. 9/10.
I LOVED the MMO part the most reignited my passion to play MMO's although I'll hold myself back xD, but if I ever find a game that's exactly like the one they were playing I'm in ^^
Kagami's cinderella story was funny to say the least.
I feel kind of mean but I laughed when Tsukasa got hit in the face by Kagami's serve and when she hit the net though @_@
Also one of the parts felt like Bakemonogatari (more likely SZS though seeing as this came out before Bake) but lol @ I am Zero xD and SGT. Frog
Loved the extra showing of MMO Legendary Girl A is afk ^^"
OMG that was AMAZING!!! i love the gaming part!!! it reminded me of FF 4 the DS XD lol tusaka didnt no 2 press enter >.< and tusaka and the volleyball was awesome X3 hehe Cinderella was amazing as well XP aww poor cherry!!! i hope she gets better!!! YAHOO!!! this was ALL SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME!!! even lucky channel X3 WOOHOO!!!
I found it amusing overall, though I prefer the regular series.
I'm with Minami. "Tuna"? What does that have to lying around? Is it a play on words in Japanese?
Yutaka's singing is SOOO CUUUUTE! "Now that was mentally healing."
So Rin came between the miko and Hatsune outfits? I was wondering who that was...
Heh, it almost seems like they were parodying the "quiet" character by having Tsukasa not know how to talk in the MMO at first.
Lots of foody mobs and quests there...
And then they get back from Golden Week trips, and Kuroi-sensei has leveled up a few times...
Iron Chef Saitama needs not outdo Kagami in volleyball!
Yeah, the style in the frog one is weird. It felt like I was watching it through a peephole on a door, except for the long shots. But that's not as weird as the warping frogs.
Heh, Anisawa has Laevatein. (You'll recall that item from the series, hopefully.) He waits several days of game time, too!
I'd say it helps to have watched the regular series. It seems to be a bunch of things that may be considered to have been interspersed throughout it.
"Say, Tsukasa, how do you eat a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup?"
wtf was this? this was nothing near the original Lucky Star. there weren't any funny scenes and nothing good about this OVA. a complete waste of 40 minutes.
The RPG part was great, and Sensei played through all of golden week xD!!
The Ginyu force pose and DAMMIT SHES AFK!? Gotta love the anime tencho
Cant forget live action lucky channel, that was awesome.
nanaki254 said: no one noticed the Haruhi reference? (primarily Konata's rington during the woods bit)
Yeah, her ringtones are always Haruhi. "Hare Hare Yukai" and "Koi no Mikuru Densetsu", but no "Bouken desho desho?", as far as I can recall.
nanaki254 said: also my version had messed up audio and no subs on the live action part :(
Here, have mine. They're the official ones.
AKIRA: Morning luckies! I am the generation's super SUPER idol, Akira Kogami! It's been a while, everyone! And! (Minoru doesn't appear) And! (still doesn't; Akira waves her hands in the spot where he should be) (leans over, speaking as Minoru) I'm Minoru Shiraishi, the assistant. And so...
MINORU: Hey!
AKIRA: If everyone calls out with a really loud voice, I think he will show up. I don't think he will come out with a very quiet voice, so I want you to call as softly as possible.
MINORU: Hold it!
AKIRA: Then let's do it now! (dully) Minoru-sempai...
MINORU: Wa wa wa wa wa wa, wa wa wa wa wa wa...
TIE: Wanna do it?
AKIRA: So you're going to show up after all. (Minoru continues singing)
AKIRA: You don't have to come out. (Minoru finishes up)
MINORU: Hey there! I'm Minoru Shiraishi, the assistant.
AKIRA: You're not going to do a stand-up routine?
MINORU: A routine?
AKIRA: Normally, you hold still in front of the camera.
MINORU: Yes.
AKIRA: Then, don't you usually do, "I'm going to do a routine now," right then? (Minoru moves back in front of the table)
AKIRA: All right, let's do it! Start! (Minoru makes it look like he pulled his thumb off; the staff laughs)
MINORU: How was that? And I've been in the industry for ten years now!
AKIRA: That was pretty good.
MINORU: Thank you very much. And so, it has started.
AKIRA: And so... Or rather...
MINORU: Yes?
AKIRA: What's this?
MINORU: Oh, this? It's popular in the streets lately... The senpai.
AKIRA: I see...
MINORU: I hear it's the talk of the town lately. Number one.
AKIRA: Oh, that's fine. It's fine!
MINORU: It's fine?! What is it?
AKIRA: What I was talking about was the situation we're in right now. What is this?
MINORU: What is this? This is, well, you know, live action. Live action Lucky Channel. (helicopter)
AKIRA: You're too noisy!
MINORU: Now, now, now... Well, um, it's great, It's wonderful. You look wonderful.
AKIRA: What is this?
MINORU: Why do you look like you're going to cry?
AKIRA: I'm telling you, it's ANIMATION!
MINORU: Well, there was that animation bit, before this segment.
AKIRA: What about me?
MINORU: Um...
AKIRA: Akira Kogami is...
MINORU: Yes...
AKIRA: I'll say it again...
MINORU: Yes...
AKIRA: She is the generation's... the generation's SUPER IDOL!
MINORU: She is, right, right. That's why we have live action. Something that nobody else could do. Since they said visual AND animation... We can have animation, and visual stuff like us. Double.
AKIRA: Oh!
MINORU: Double the flavor! So the viewer gets twice the good stuff!
AKIRA: I realized something.
MINORU: What is it?
AKIRA: Original...
TOGETHER: Visual and...
AKIRA: Animation.
MINORU: Animation, yes, yes.
AKIRA: Minoru Shiraishi is original, and has Visual and Animation parts. This is your show, isn't it?!
MINORU: Wait a minute, it's not like that!
AKIRA: Geez! Akira is a super idol! Yet, why does the staff take Minoru...
MINORU: Come on, now, now... please calm down.
AKIRA: There's not enough love here! I'm in shock.
MINORU: Shock?!
MUSIC: You're in shock - love comes falling down from the sky / You're in shock - it's falling onto my heart
MINORU: See, they're playing it now. The theme song, right? (Specifically, "Ai o Torimodose!!" the first OP of Fist of the North Star.)
AKIRA: (indicating the credits scrolling up the middle) What are these?
MINORU: Oh, these.. These are nothing. It will be all right... They will all be moved to one side. Everyone... The staff all loves you, Akira-sama.
AKIRA: Hot.
MINORU: You're hot? Then, something like some cold water... Anyone have any for Akira-sama?
AKIRA: Staff, can I have water? I'd like to have some water. (Someone gives her a bottle)
MINORU: See, they brought you some. (She leaves)
MINORU: Please rest well. Soon... Um... And so... There you have it. Until she gets in a better mood. Well, I'm a bit thirsty myself, so I'd like to drink some water myself. Um, excuse me, uh... Staff-u! Staff-u! Um, I'd like some too... Some water. Staff-u! Staff... (Someone comes up and...)
MINORU: What I want is some water. Wait, why are you taking the mike off of me? Wait a minute, something's wrong here... So, where's the water? The water? (Someone holds up a spray nozzle...)
MINORU: Staff... (...and sprays him in the face for a while.)
MINORU: I see... So that's what's going on. (The background audio starts going into an episode.)
MINORU: But, you know... That's not it. I did say it... But don't you think this is a bit different? It's different... Different! (Whoever's spraying finally stops. The episode is stopped. Akira comes back. Minoru takes the wig off.)
MINORU: Oh, welcome back.
AKIRA: You know, really...
MINORU: Yes?
AKIRA: I'm so bummed.
MINORU: Well, see...
AKIRA: In the first place...
MINORU: Yes.
AKIRA: I'd been thinking all along. They kept saying, "We'll put you in the main segment." But I'd never show up at all. And they made a pop-stand ad of me, but it broke in half. And you know, I've been saying, if I could help out in the main segment, even in a different role, I would love to do so... But somehow...
MINORU: No, it'll be all right, Akira-sama! There will be good things, too!
AKIRA: I tried so hard, you know... But I don't feel the love at all... (Lucky Channel theme starts)
MINORU: Akira-sama, over there!
AKIRA: What? The ending segment is over already? Akira's so lonely!
MINORU: Well, there you have it.
AKIRA: Mail here! (indicating where an address might go, but didn't)
MINORU: Oh, a new tactic. New! Right around here, right? Right around here.
AKIRA: To Akira, your big love, please! And so, please look forward to the day that you see us all again! Then... Bye-nee!
MINORU: Bye-nee! I'm going to do my best... Like, already at the pinnacle. Uchoten (Pinnacle)... Take a look. My regards. (Akira taps his head with her palm, as he's kinda blocking her face a bit.)
MINORU: Ouch! What was that? Stop it! (The black screen with Japanese text comes up.)
AKIRA: Or rather, you know?!
MINORU: What?
AKIRA: I've decided...
MINORU: What's wrong?
AKIRA: Like, I want to be at the pinnacle, so I can't do anything to counter it.
MINORU: So like, more and more...
AKIRA: Right. Climb right up there. You know...
MINORU: Spurt up?
AKIRA: Spurt! (Sparto!)
MINORU: Spurt? Let's go up there with a spurt! Solve things with a spurt! Spurt your way to the pinnacle!
AKIRA: So unreliable... But I'll do my best.
MINORU: All right!

"Say, Tsukasa, how do you eat a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup?"
Probably one of, if not the best "OVA" for a series I have seen, yet. Possibly because the overall "sitcom" feel of the series, the OVA fit the mood perfectly.
I had to keep watching the Kagami sketch over and over. Personally I found it hilarious whenever Kagami wakes up and says "I want to **** with Kotona" while half-asleep, right in front of her sister.
The episode does not regret the end of the television series, it gives really good time, too bad that little space and gave Minami, Yutaka and her friends. Nice to see instead the participation of Nanakon for more than half of the OVA, together with konakona and sisters Hiiragi! A good test in the end! Konata never loses the enamel, with his quotes!XD
I am so sad while thinking this OVA is the last project of Lucky Star, from my deepest heart I want more of Lucky Star.. T^T
"The Slave is the have-not, the oppressed one with nothing to spare.
But because the Slave is in that despairing situation, having nothing, it can kill the Emperor !"
Glorious Miku Cameo was Glorious ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ this the closest I'll ever get to seeing vocaliod anime series, and I throughly enjoyed every second, even if she was being a bit tsundere the whole time :)
I don't know why but, I have a feeling that the pet shop part is a reference to the monogatari series or something since it's so similar in the way its portrait. But Bakemonogatari only started airing in 2009 and this was aired 2008
I've seen the fragment with the frogs compared to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, haven't seen it yet, but given it's Shaft, it's probably similar. And the song playing in the background when frogs where screaming sounded exactly like Zaregoto from Bake. The whole part was freaky. The best moment of the OVA.
