So I have a finals in a few hours and I stayed up all night studying. What should I do to stay awake? If i sleep, i WILL BE SO TIRED and not able to stay awake later on.

Coffee? When I drink it, I get even sleepier. D:

Take in B6 and B12 vitamins. They'll help you regulate energy levels more efficiently. Also, don't take more then three. They thicken your blood, and too much of a good thing...

You should probably drink a 5 hour energy. They work at first, but after drinking a lot of them your body becomes used to it. So as long as you haven't had many of them before you should be good.

Fruit is good, like apples and such. They won't give you instant energy like coffee will but should help keep you alert (or at least conscious) during your finals.

Energy drinks and coffee don't do shit for me. I would just go to sleep even if I knew I'd be miserable for a while when I wake up.

Most of what energy drinks/coffee does is on the inside so you won't exactly notice it working in the ways you think you would. On a side note a lot of you are suggesting healthy/low caffeine things which are probably a good idea but he needs something a bit more potent, just make sure its in moderation.

Bzzzt. How about green tea extract? Ironcially more superior then actual green tea. Caffeinated only have a 'high', so they eventually backfire. Using something that moderately contributes to energy levels (like 5 hour energy) is better then stuff like AMP or Red Bull. Also, Taurine backfires twice as bad.

Dark chocolate would be superior. Its healthier and has more total fat. Total fat will help satiate hunger better so focus can be maintained. Also, aim for anything with polysaturated fat. Its good for you.

Awake is easy, alert is harder, but keeping the brain actually worthwhile is the really hard part.

Just being awake won't mean you are usefully coherent.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I don't put much before sleep... If I needed to stay awake, then I'd have a nutella toasty and a big mug of tea, not because it keeps me awake (though having to go to the toilet does keep you awake), but because I get hungry.

Sweets, leave me awake and with a lot of energy, but only if I had a time without eating.
The cafe operates slightly on me, I prefer a nice cup of hot chocolate.

When I want to stay awake I cook food, real food. It's not as much the eating it, as the cooking it that keeps me awake.
Other than that, a shower always works.

Black out the windows so your body doesn't know what time of day it is. It works best when you have the blinds and curtains over the windows all day, so you never see sunrise or sunset. Probably also the easiest way to get a mixed bag of psychological disorders.

I also find that my brain works more efficiently when I'm fasting. I suggest eating a single large meal before you need to concentrate, and another smaller meal a few hours before you plan to sleep, with no snacks in between.

I have dozens of other tactics like these, this is just the most important rules for me to follow.

If I hit a wall, I grab a powerbar and bolt it. Powerbars usually keep me going for about 4 hours. Remember and drink water too if you're going to eat something like that because it will prevent you from throwing up, getting dehydrated, or both.

Take a quick walk outside if nothing else, that should calm you down if you can't think.

Also, before you go out to take a break (if you do), write down or record your immediate thoughts on whatever you're working on before you go so you can get back to work faster, and when you take a break try to meditate and clear your mind (think of nothing).

This procedure of sorts will prevent you from crashing (as opposed to drinking incomprehensible amounts of caffeinated liquids) and should help you to work a little more efficiently.

I usually have an espresso or grab something quick to eat.
If I'm really aiming to stay awake a shower always helps.

My internal sleep clock is so messed up right now, it's not even funny.

I don't drink Coffee often; it's actually very rare that I do. Only times I need a stimulant to stay awake is when I'm pulling an all-nighter, and that usually involves studying (and I don't do a lot of that, lolol). At that point, it's just easier to take speed, as it'll waken me and increase my focus. I know it's illegal, but do you see how may fucks I give? NONE. Lul.

But really, I've only taken adderall twice this year. It's a good stimulant when used sparringly, which I do. Otherwise, you can become addicted to it (it makes someone who doesn't have ADHD - me - feel really, really good).

I usually turn on the TV on the channel that doesn't have anything interesting to watch much, use it as a background noise while study for my classes. Eating some snack helps too but you will get pretty much fat afterword.
