Average anime faggu:

I just want to watch anime with cute girls doing cute things in highschool!

Black Lagoon:

We Tarantino now.

No wonder this show is polarizing.

honestly...i feel bad for the twins but as the saying goes.. what you reap is what you sow. i totally feel rock for this. anyone will feel sympathetic towards them. well this shows how cruel the reality is.

also that gender swap thing the twins do is kinda sick. its just sad they died that way.

I already expected what will happen to the twins but it made me kind of sad still. It's unfortunate for them not to see a ray of light during their young life and I wonder what Rock saw in the girl's body? Damn, the ending song is really beautiful tho, it fits the scene of this episode. It gave me goosebumps and made me sad too.

Damn this show got so wonderfully dark and violent, I love it. This is probably my favorite arc so far. I actually felt kind of bad for the kid when she got shot at the end. It's really interesting to have a character like Rock in the show who's not used to stuff like this and seeing his reactions. He's tough, but is still very bothered by the more disturbing things this side of the world shows, especially when it happens to children. It kind of reminds me of Kinderheim 511 in Monster.

Despite their murderous tendencies, I felt quite sad seeing the twins die, especially the one at the end. Rock is such a sweetheart!

Loved this arc, it shocked me in the beginning and made me laugh, cheer, and actually cry at the end of the arc. looking forward to ep 4!

Glad this trash arc is over.

The best part of the arc was how it ended. Seriously. That final scene was actually a good ending, and not just because the rest of the arc sucked.

One question, though: Was that kid sexually mutilated? Or... what was that whole scene with Rock about? I don't really want to google it and risk finding out more than I want to know.

I disagree with everyone in this thread. Although the back story of the kids is interesting... it is totally negated by the fact that they are kids. It is just completely unbelievable, while I thought that this anime was trying for some level of realism. And there is no advantage to the characters being kids. Perhaps a creepiness factor, but IMO that is completely ruined by the stupidity of the situation. And if the author wanted them to be kids he should not have armed one of them with a machine gun that is bigger than they are. At least the one kid with the ax is at least some what believable.

I am glad they are dead. Now the series can move on.

Completely agree with all of this (except for the "some level of realism" sentence). This arc was awful for a multitude of reasons.

such a good ending and it was so sudden. I can't believe it was so easy to kill her/him like that.

Almost immediately we are getting more brutal and serious arcs than the first black lagoon. Loving it so far tho, definitely wasn’t expecting that ending

Twins were creepy asf, it was cool to see a different side of one of them.
The end caught me off guard.

Why does this anime remind of of Tarantino's films?

Anyway, best arc in the show so far after the Roberta arc. Those kids had a tragic past, but they were tainted into walking slaughterhouses. Sad, but they had to be put down. Can't revert crazy from a hug.

Phenomenal and gruesome episode, both in terms of physical violence and the attack at the heartstrings with the themes and content of the episode. If only those two kids had better upbringings, had not been fucked with their entire childhoods since their personalities shape up to be who they are at a much faster and permanent rate that way given the amount of abuse they've taken, and there was no true happy ending for them. One of the twins got shot and bled to death kneeling in front of Balalaika and the other while trying to escape for the both of them got taken out even when the Lagoon Company tried to help them with the getaway. Balalaika's got contacts everywhere given her stature in the underground world so there was truly no escape for the twins. Shame that their stories were tragic ones without much happiness and real love. Reminds me again of how child soldiers are so common in wars back in the day and how because of their surroundings and environment and treatment they're used to, they're shaped to be people like that (obviously not as exaggerated but still, its sort of valid). The song at the end to conclude the arc was bittersweet to hear. Overall, a fantastic arc really and felt truly like a Tarantino one, and he's one of my favorites in the movie industry so makes sense why I loved all of it despite the over-exaggerated nature of the twins.

Well this was one hell of an arc, definitely the best episode of the series by far. Love how Balalaika cornered the brother, it was masterful. The ending is gut wrenching, the twins were absolute victims, and they bought into the wickedness of the world... Rock's completely broken, you gotta feel for him, because we the audience are just like him. His last line was perfect, and it hits home every time.

The Italian Mafia had a bunch of idiots, the Russians knew exactly what they were doing. Gotta feel for Rock, he was broken by the end of this episode

Fucking hell. Yeah the arc started off a bit ridiculous with the vampire themes and kids managing to kill all these thugs, but if you look past that it's just so fucking brutal. The kind of shit that happened to those kids is the kind of thing you pretend couldn't possibly exist in the world for your own sanity.

I’m rewatching Black Lagoon now, but I forgot that the kid gets shot at the end. When those credits played I burst into tears. It was so f’ed what happened to them, they just needed a little love. But leaving her alive wouldn’t be right either. It goes to show how cruel the world can be and that pissed me off. I felt just like Rock, excellent episode

Al fin murieron esos dos hermanitos. Llevaron una vida de mierda, pero eso no justifica sus actos. No entiendo porque metieron a Rock a vigilar a Hanzel, cuando Rock es el mas blandito del grupo.

Considering they found out who the twins are from a child porn, I don't think offering sex would surprise Rock that much. His first reaction was shock and somewhat disgust and keeping in mind that twins were switching places with each other i think they were castrated and their genitelia were beyond recognition...

Hopefully, we get to see the genital, i love loli.
@aLotQuestion_
Omfg I did a real life spittake on this here comment... I just love the brutal confidence of not giving a fuck about what people think. Kudos for the honesty I guess lmao...

Sooo I mean, everyone here was questioning the gender of the flasher but my question is... He looked for a few seconds rather than immediately looking away... Why? If he cared he would have told her it was wrong rather than storming out. He should have explained to her why it's wrong/weird for her to respond to kindness in that odd way.

But yeah even though I like lolis I'm not a fan of psycho demented ones. This was weirrrd and awkward...

This was a weird arc and I didn't love the twincest but I think the show did a good job of wrapping things up
I also really liked how the show used the tragic existence of the twins to further flesh out the main cast -- ie Rock going through a moral crisis and Revy showing a bit of her growing sense of compassion for Rock

On a side note though, I kind of thought they were going to reveal that the twins were actually adults who were permanently stunted as a result of their trauma but I guess they were just actual.. kids

I can't believe it got me. This was probably one of my favorite episodes of Black Lagoon so far. Of course there's the gut punch at the end, after they somehow got me to care about the twins. Rock's conversation with one of the twins really draws you in as a viewer.
This episode has a very interesting tone of how bleak and ugly life in the underground is. Rock comes in as a normal person and empathizes with the tragedy of other people's lives, regardless of the bad things they have done. Benny is not too far from Rock in having empathy, but has taken up a more fatalistic and distant view to deal with it. Even Balalaika is tired, although it is up to interpretation whether that has to do with the twins specifically or the overall ordeal of the battle.

The first half of the episode was amazing. The scenes with Balalaika enacting her revenge. Her snipers and crew are amazing.

The second half with Rock and that kid were really bad in my opinion and im glad that guy pulled up in the end.
