Yay, I finally finished ToA. Very good game. RL, did you ever finish it? Umm... who else on the board was playing this.. I remember Hiro was. It took me around 85 hours (with side quests, except for the Nebilim one which I couldn't finish cause she decimated my entire party in less then a minute, I felt there wasn't a need to try again - didn't bother with the coliseum either).

I WTF-ed at the ending when I first saw it. I was disappointed as well since I'm an Asch fan. But I guess if I think about it now it ended pretty well. Not the happiest ending, but oh well.. happy enough I guess.

Nah, I have yet to finish it. I'm pretty much at the end....but then FF12 and LOZ:TP came out and I got kinda side tracked. ^_^;;

I'll be sure to finish it soon though.

Nebilim was so fun to fight. ~_~

Game took me like 50 hours without doing anything. I didn't really like the ending, especially since I liked Asch more than emo Luke.

I love Legendia more. :)

Booo. Go finish it RL! If I had a choice between FF12 and ToA, I would go for ToA, haha *wasn't impressed by FF12 after 20 hours*.

Hmm... I'm not sure which I like more. Unlike a lot of tha Tales fans though, I like Legendia too. But I think I'm bending towards Abyss more. I didn't really like Legendia's story as much (it was pretty predictable and didn't have any of those WTF moments I like when some twist happens). I also don't like Shirley. :P Abyss didn't have any hateable enough characters for me (except when Luke made it out as one of the biggest assholes of a main character in the first part of the game). I don't really mind emo Luke. Both of them had too many problems really (Asch would be irritating to know in real life, walking away from conversations when things need to be said).

lol, I started playing again after you posted this, I'm at the radiation gate, I should finish tommorow.

I liked Legendia as well, although not as much as Abyss, and Symphonia beats them both imo (regardless of Abyss' ending (unless its increadibly spectacular)).

My god, I hate Symphonia so much. >_> I did everything in that game, too.

I just have such a loving for Legendia, when someone insults it, I want to rip them apart. :( I have both the Japanese and English versions, the Mangas by REX comics, a bunch of Doujins(in fact, I just ordered a doujinshi with Abyss-Legendia. :O), a huge poster, the OST, the artbook, the official strategy guide in english. :( I'm not even half-way done with my Legendia collection, either.

And yes, Shirley is very irritating in both versions. :\

i'm 30 hrs into legendia. Got distracted with FF12, GoW, Phoenix Wright JfA and Guitar Hero. Funny thing, I'm having the hardest time with finding Abyss. Most places are sold out atm.

Symphonia was great. It's the only game that I have ever pulled an 18 hr session. With bathroom and foodbreaks of course

There, I finished it. TY Crystal, without this topic who knows how long it would have taken me to get back to it (Still have to beat Wild Arms 3. Was distracted and never got back to it. Got it 5 years ago).

The ending was ok, it could have been better (just like how most games could have better endings) but I guess it wrapped things up nicely enough. I didn't have strong feelings negatively or positively about Luke or Asch. They both had there flaws. I guess I like Luke more over all though, but w/e.

Just like I thought, still like Symphonia better. =P

Wild Arms 3? I got 15 hours in that game, got distracted by Abyss, but I beat it in 5 days. When I went back to WA3, I couldn't find the dungeon, and the stupid Sand Tank battles irritated the hell out of me, so I stopped. :\

Oh, btw I noticed Laharl in your sig. O_O did you see the Disgaea anime?

Haha, I really need to play Symphonia. If it's something half of the Tales fans like so much.

I would of liked a more definite ending for Abyss... and it was kinda dumb of them to make the contamination effect side quest.. a side quest considering you need to do it to make sense of the ending. Yet it's too difficult to finish cause of the stupid boss that kills me player character in 3 seconds. >_>

Let's see, Wild Arms 3. I played that when it came out. And I never finished it. I could never get past this one boss battle (fighting that family...). I couldn't go train and level up because all the baddies gave so little exp it was ridiculous. And you can't buy medicine in the game so I really didn't have a lot.

WA3 was kinda difficult, yet WA4 was so easy. >.<

lol, I completed WA: Alter Code F and I'm halfway through WA4. I think I only got to between 25-50% of WA3, but I never found it all that hard. Does it get more difficult?

Tenks: I dropped the Disgaea anime, I was dissapointed. It fails when compared to the game

From what I've seen, WA3 is so god damn easy, it's just that the Tank battles take too long. I haven't played the Disgaea game, I want to though. Not in English, I want to hear my favorite seiyuu as Laharl in Japanese. :)

I never finished Alter Code F either. Maybe halfway. I finished WA4. WA3.. well yeah I think it does get harder, I'm pretty sure I was more then over halfway through. If I had the medicine the boss battle would be easy enough (I could just go to heal every turn mode and survive that way) but cause of the limited medicine, man I'm pretty sure I did that boss battle like 20 times doing different strategies. Then I stopped. Then I tried like 2 years later and finally beated it. Then I continued the game a bit (although I didn't know the story anymore) and yay, came across another boss. Which I couldn't beat, with even less medicine then before. xD Yep, I stopped after that.

I thought the Disgaea anime sucked. Why does RPG anime always have to suck? I wonder what it would be like if they animated a Tales game fully for instance (not these short OVAs like Phantasia or the upcoming Symphonia one, or the sidestory Eternia one).

Tenks: The U.S version of Disgaea has a japanese voice track (in case you didn't know) not sure if the seiyuu are the same as the anime though.

I really liked Alter Code F. I completed it in only a few days (which is rare for me nowadays.) I will try to finish WA4 soon.

There are a few RPG's I'd like to see animated, if they would actually follow the plot from the games more closely.

Same here I beat ToA about a month ago completing all the side quests that I could (I didn't know that certain ones could only be done at specific points in the game). So far I've clocked in at 110 hrs and am currently working on getting enough grade so that I can get all the bonuses in the second playthrough.

"Bandai Namco's Wii RPG Tales of Symphonia: Ratatoskr no Kishi [Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk], the protagnoists are Emil Castagnier, a gentle 16 year old boy who lost his parents; and Marta Lualdi, a 16 year old girl who is unyielding. In the game you can recruit monsters as companion in battle."

it takes place 2 years after symphonia. wierd idea with the monster recruiting but ya i cant wait for it. really hope it has a good story and not just a short spin off with journeys to areas you've been to before that just give you a nostalgic feel.

not necessarily ToS 2, I do believe ToS is a pre-cursor to another tales game, but it's supposed to be set in the same world I think

also, I loved ToA, I've played through it 3 times and loved it every time

Tales of Symphonia is 1000 years or so before Tales of Phantasia began

ToS 2 is the actual sequal to ToS

Abyss! Great game. I haven't played it for a few months though but I left off on my 3rd replay.

I really like how the final boss isn't SDJFLIFJ mutation x 300 x 5000 wings and twenty eyes everywhere with giant legs etc.

Tales of series owns my soul right now. It's kind of scary...
I played, beat TotA, and now I'm playing it again to pick up on all the side quests I missed before. I love the game to death. It's easily my favorite PS2 game.
The cast is great, the VA is great, the story is great...my only complaint is the mediocre graphics and loading times.

Game was pretty good, but I liked Symphonia better. This game was a little too full of angst for my liking. Most of the support characters I either felt neutral-positive or neutral-negative toward :P Jade was ridiculously awesome though, haha.

Also, not a fan of the graphical style. The models seem like they are dolls, as opposed to the nice cell-shading of Symphonia.

One thing I can say for sure I liked better than Symphonia was the character designs. The girls were loads better looking than most of the 10-year old Symphonia characters. Luke and Guy looked much cooler than the guys in Symphonia. Although, Sheena/Zelos are still my fav female/male characters... And the Abyss costumes were great. So many of the costumes were really good, it was hard to choose what to make my characters wear ^^

I've been playing this game for the past few weeks. I'm currently at the Tower of Rem and think I'm pretty close to the end of the game. It's been a great ride and Abyss has officially taken over as #1 tales game from Symphonia. Destiny and Phantasia follow closely.

Hopefully Vesperia is just as good. ^_^
