if you so wish, than you could certainly read some undertone into the series. I mean they were 'rivals' (which always invites a rivalry in bed according to yaoi fans), and they were chained together for god knows how long.

I don't believe L and Light are gay. It was either fanservice to get yaoi fan girls riled up or it could be the symbolic act the other users mentioned.

No, just... No.

I don't think either of them really had any kind of sexual thought in their heads. The drying scene was more of a symbolic thing then a fanservice scene.

They are not gay, but there are some weird scenes, like cleaning each others feet. Which is weird.. and I think this is fanservice for girls.

As much as the idea turns me on, it kind of puts a damper on your relationship when your potential love interest is working day and night to find a way to send you six feet under.

Having said that, Ohba-sensei has said in "Death Note: How To Read" that if Light had never come across the Death Note, he would likely have spent his life fighting crime side by side with L. So there you have it, yaoi fans. If not for Ryuk, Death Note could have been on its way to becoming the greatest shounen-ai series ever.

Apparently for the curious minds of youngsters it does.

But no probably not. It's impossible to really know what L's feelings towards light, or anyone for that matter are. Light is a little too hellbent on becoming god and getting rid of obstacles to even think of emotional matters. Though Light does hold obvious heavy respect for him, and L's probably the only person who made any sort of effect on Light. They could have been best friends if Light didn't get the death note to say the least.

The whole foot drying thing was a scene taken out of the bible I believe (I'm not Christian, so don't quote me on this) It was a story about Guy A that rubbed Guy B's feet (knowing that guy B is deceiving him), and then Guy B stabs him in the back. Look it up, not sure if I'm recalling correctly.

How in the hell do people not pick up on this? I was 13 when I first watched Death Note, hadn't even read the Bible, and I was still like, "that's definitely some sort of biblical reference."
If the bible advocates anything it's pedal hygeine; In fact, I'm pretty sure that Footbaths was the last name of one of the apostles or something.

Really? I just saw it as L being his usual tricky self into seeing how Light reacts to being treated as a superior

I mean, after rewatching the series I have confirmed Light has more attatchment both physically&mentally to L than Misa, in a matter of a fact, he doesnt have any attraction to misa what so ever

I suspect L is bisexual since he had an attraction to both light and misa

It was most definitely a Biblical reference. Like. There's no question.

http://garyware.me/2010/10/21/jesus-washes-judas-feet-a-lesson-in-humility-via-ligonier-blog/

Jesus knew Judas’ heart, but washed his feet anyway. Why did He do it? Well Jesus models for us here how we are not to practice presumptive excommunication. Jesus treated Judas as his own, in order to show the need to leave time and opportunity for repentance and turning. The wheat and tares will grow up together, and we are not to be presumptuous about who the tares might be, but to be longsuffering with one another.

L knew Light was Kira. But he still saw him as a friend and with humility.

I didn't even read the Bible, and this was obvious.

To answer your question: Yes, as gay as Mello is for Near.

To answer your question seriously: We'd all like to think that. But most likely..no.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I mean come on, Ohba-sensei created Matt for the sole purpose of giving Mello someone to talk to.

As for the whole L washing Light's feet thing, yeah, that's definitely a biblical reference. But I also think it's L trying to screw with Light one last time by doing something utterly submissive and intimate, and thus making him as uncomfortable as possible.

My two cents: L admires Light's intelligence. At the same time, he suspected Light to be Kira. This physical act he did with drying Light's feet could have been his way of both expressing appreciation for his intellect, while at the same time exercising a moment of physical control over him, giving him a sense of conquest. Just a thought.

I think Light is asexual (or that's how creators portray him as). After all, he wants to become a God and acts like one. Gods usually don't have a gender or sexuality.

I don't have a clue about L though. He might be asexual too. I just don't think his sexuality is relevant enough to even mention it.

I don't think Light is "asexual," technically. I think he definitely displays more heterosexual tendencies than any possible homosexual overtones that might exist between him and L. I just don't think that he has any inclination towards anything besides using people, females included, towards his psychopathic ends once the Death Note ball gets rolling.

By putting all my fangirl desires to the side, which I think everyone should do when answering this question, I say no. I just think they were in unnatural circumstances that could have given off a certain impression that people fed off; by 'unnatural' I mean it's not very typical for the detective's #1 suspect to be working alongside him. Any exchange the two had was always filled with undertones, but not of the sexual kind, just of the "I'm going to get you eventually" kind, that created tension that is misinterpreted by some as a sexual nature.
