Yesterday, Shueisha confirmed that with 23 volumes, the series has achieved over 220 millions copies worldwide including digital versions. 164 million copies in Japan and 56 million copies oversea.

Shueisha announced on the 17th that the total number of copies of the popular manga "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" (by Koyoharu Gotouge) in worldwide circulation, with its 23 volumes, has exceeded 220 million (164 million domestically and 56 million overseas, including digital versions). In February 2021, it was announced that the total had surpassed 150 million copies, and while there has been no new record announcement since then, the number has increased by 70 million in the last four and a half years, and Shueisha explained that "the manga has enjoyed overwhelming popularity even after the end of serialization."

By April 6, 2019 (when the anime aired), the series had sold a total of 3.5 million copies, but its popularity soared with the anime's broadcast, turning it into a social phenomenon. The number of copies sold continued to grow, reaching 12 million by the end of September of that year, 25 million by December 4, 40 million by February 4, 2020, and so on, surpassing 100 million copies on October 2, 2020. The final volume was released on December 4, 2020, and the number of copies sold reached 120 million.

When the series surpassed 150 million copies in February 2021, Shueisha explained, "Even after its conclusion, its popularity continued thanks to the huge success of the film adaptation, and with repeated reprints, the total number of copies published has exceeded 150 million."

In addition to "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," other Shueisha works with cumulative circulation exceeding 100 million copies include "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo," "DRAGON BALL," the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" series, "SLAM DUNK," "ONE PIECE," "NARUTO," "BLEACH," "Kingdom," "My Hero Academia," and "Jujutsu Kaisen."

Very impressive and Well-deserved result. Congrats, Demon Slayer!

But there is a pinch of bitterness in it... I wish we had new manga content released, i.e. Uzui Tengen Gaiden (in a form similar to Giyuu's and Rengoku's Gaiden stories).

Importantly, Kimetsu no Yaiba only has 23 volumes. Additionally, the remaining manga have 40+ volumes with at least 20 years of history.
