Go to Whole Foods and bring my own bag, because THEY WON'T BE USING THEM ANYMORE!! MUAHAHA! >:D

*sniff* I'm so proud of them. (for those who have no idea what I am talking about: starting Earth Day, Whole Foods will no longer be giving out bags. You have to bring your own.)

Anyway, I don't really do anything for Earth Day, because I live a very "green" lifestyle:
-I don't drive. Period. or even own a car.
-I am vegan. Which does more for the planet than driving a hybrid car.
-I buy recycled/recyclable/biodegradable products.
-I recycle everything.
-I bring my own reusable bags with me to grocery stores. Or just use a backpack.

And I pointed these things out because I just wanted to say that it's not hard to do on a daily basis. You can do it. Yes, you can.

Likewise on all counts 'cept veganism. I also compost all organic waste, and grow half of my own veggies, and I have several fruit trees which are a nice food budget discount when in season. (Manadrin, lime, nectarine, two varieties of plums, and cherries, though the cherry tree was ravaged by birds this year and I didn;t get to eat any ;.; They ate 'em before they were ripe >.<

I'm very light on power usage, too. Generally only have my computer on, and a light (11w CFLs throughout the whole house) at night. I always turn off lights when I leave a room, so only one is ever on at a time, at that. I also have my monitor to go in to power save if idle for 5 minutes, though I actually turn it off when I go to bed, or step out of the house for more than 10 mins, so not even any standby usage then. Unless I'm downloading stuff, I turn my compy off when I go to bed, too.

So, really, I don't think my lifestyle needs much change. I already live very minimally compared to the majority.

I'm already pretty eficient when it comes to light usage, and I try to recycle most of my trash, so I guess I'll do what I usually do on a normal day =P

Happy birthday and....

- I barely use lights, even at night and during the evening.
- I dont own or drive a car/scooter/moped, i use public transport.
- I always recycle, not a single exception.
- My parents have their own large garden where they plant new stuff in.

Etc.

I'm jealous of you guys with gardens and composts ;___; I live in an apartment, so I don't have the option.

BUT there is a farmer's market two blocks away :D so at least there's local produce.

HAHA, maybe not the living room XD but I might be able to set a compost in the alley (my apartment is actually the lower half of a house, it's just surrounded by concrete with the exception of a couple of bushes in front of the building). And then set up a window box garden. I should look into it.

I knew someone in an apartment who had quite a nice hydroponics setup in one of his rooms. Also grew mushrooms in a cupboard.

Me, I love my garden. D: Couldn't live without fresh produce. I look forward to getting chickens again too (only moved here a few months ago, still working on building garden beds, chookpen comes later!) -- nothing like freerange eggs on demand. ^^

I'm going to do the same thing I do every day (my lifestyle is pretty green)
-I live in a high density condo tower
-I dont own a car- I only take public transit
-I recycle about 80% of my waste
-I buy about half of my food organic
-I support companies that are "green" whenever possible

I don't need to do anything special for earth day, I already do enough nature friendly acts to begin with.
~I recycle everything
~I longboard, walk, or bike when weather permits
~I pick up trash on the ground if I see it and there's a garbage nearby
~I just started growing my own veggies
~I use energy saving appliances and light bulbs
~I buy recycled items
~I only buy farmed wood
~I eat Venison (YAY for keeping the deer population in check!)
And about a million other little things. Today is just like any other day.

I'm pretty earth-wise in my day-to-day activities, so nothing new.

I really hate public transportation though. Riding my bike is so much better.

Earth day, wtf?

I might go take a dump on a lawn or something... It saves some water, doesn't it?
