If you had the power to wipe out one community of anime from your choosing, what would you pick.

Some communities of anime are really disgusting and despicable, and pushes away some people from consuming the media and hurts the innocent people who like the show and want to talk about it but can't, however, now with this power you are now able to cleanse the earth of their putrid rule34 and replace them with a more wholesome community of likeable personalities, ideas and theories. What community would you annihilate?

You do realize rule34 existed before Japanese Anime even started widely airing on Western national broadcasting. Back between 1995 to 1997 fake fan made naked photos of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Scully" from X-files, and fake porno photos of the women from "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" 1st started popping up on the internet. This was way before 99% of anyone in the west who was previously into Japanese Anime even heard of the phrase "hentai" or even knew what the phrase actually meant (because it still really wasn't even technically coined yet as specific Anime genre in the West).

Rule34 would still exist today if Japanese Anime wasn't even ever invented.

I would chose to erase the tourists so pretty easy choice. Anyone failing to understand the significants of demographics and catering to different audiences do not desserve anime. Not a fan of the global thought police and consultants.

It's not something people would commonly know about unless they experienced the internet when Windows 95 1st came out. Anime fandom simply just organized and popularized what we know as rules34. Even in the 60s and 70s in the West there were people like Robert Crumb that could be considered a precursor pioneer to the inception of rule34.

Edit: I should disclose during this time period the internet was a mess. Back in 1995 I remember a I was trying to see what info I could scoop up for a neighbor's dog that was an extremely rare breed which was a Black Russian Terrier. The 1st inquiry to pop up simply searching for "rare breed dogs" directed me to random pornographic images. lol

Even though only about less than 10% of the internet back then was likely filled with pornography, it was still an extremely visible part of the early internet days after Users stopped using DOS as their operating system. Oddly it was disproportionately prominently present even when doing general searches for stuff even when one wasn't specifically looking for pornography in the 1st place.

To answer the topic, I don't think I'd wipe out any specific group, but if I had to pick one I guess I'd go with those people that harass the people working on a show (or sometimes fanartists) for making choices they don't like. Like people throwing a hissy fit over their favorite ship not being canon lol. That kind of thing is present on the internet outside just anime fandoms, though.

Rule34 is made up of every Fandom though. It's like the peacekeeping of all anime communities and fans. If you want to wipe it out, then you basically want to wipe out peace and sow the seeds of chaos instead.

I don't think there's any part of the community I would be hostile enough to fully erase them.

Humans are complicated beings and putting everyone into one bucket just doesn't sit right with me, so I would erase none.

Of course community would be better without people that harass others, send death-threats to creators or just toxic individuals - but I wouldn't call those "communities" per se.

Easily fujos, they are the cancer of the anime community, having the hots for a defending hot gay rapists and abusers. And it's even more annoying when they start claiming that straight characters are gay/bi or closeted because they had one positive interaction with another guy and then start to aggressively ship them calling everyone who doesn't agree as homophobic.

It'd be more useful if you could eliminate groups that modify or outright ban anime in certain geographical regions. I can easily, just not interact with the community that I don't like, so not really gonna annihilate any.

Spicy thread.

I would like to erase people who talk about erasing other people. The kind of people who tell others that they are watching anime "wrong," are "ruining" anime and shouldn't watch anime.

It's the only group of people that really bothers me.

The only people i think don't belong are those who are actively hateful towards marginalized groups and try to push them out of the community. Animation is for everyone, and those who try and make it a "straight boys only club" are actively hurting the integrity of the community by not allowing perspectives from the various other demographics that also engage with the hobby.
This post is brought to you by your local transfem gamer goblin. Will not tolerate bigotry and will fight against "anti-woke" sentiment to make the anime community a safer place.

lolicons aren't a marginalized group. I am talking about actual groups marginalized by society, such as race, gender, and sexual orientation, not your controversial fetishes. There's a difference between being disliked for having a controversial kink vs immutable qualities about your personhood.
