I do see now that it was handled by a South Korean animation studio with an Indian-American creator.
I assumed since it was a Japanese game series that Japan was handling it.

| They could easily add another category for media like this on the site. The silly debate over anime being strictly tied to only japan has lost it's purity a long time ago. It's a widely used term for a lot of animation outside of Japan. As is the term manga, but each Asian country has their own reference be it comics, light novels, manhwa, manhua etc. Yet, any normie will call anything animated anime. |

But by your logic there are already plenty anime listed for "wrong reasons" pending to be delisted, but including SL, the since it's partly produced by South Koreans :P I don't get what the fuzz is about. I use MAL to track my Anime-Show-Progress. IDC about any idealism. @PigeonDargile I'd recommend Anilist as Backup or maybe Kitsu (barely use this myself). |

| @zbikk I wouldn't call them stupid, but the MAL anime and manga definitions are definitely rigid and very outdated. MAL needs to get with the times and start offering better service to its users. Otherwise, it will lose many users to other websites/apps that are more inclusive and look way more modern. |

| My take on this is that its a "cartoon" since it has no japanese dub ? if they start adding a few of them then people will ask for things like the justice league cartoon to be added or batman the animated series etc...makes sens they wana keep stuff japanese or chinese LOL i just use IMDB account for stuff i dont find on animelist |

| @Niyanaka Not only is "follows the conventions of a Japanese animation" incredibly vague as a parameter, there are two issues 1) by saying it imitates anime you are also indirectly confirming it's*not* animr, as otherwise it wouldn't need to imitate those conventions 2) no it fucking doesn't, it looks, is written and feels like a western cartoon all the way |
