Marie getting along with a cat is just about the cutest thing in this show. She really can make friends with anyone.

She's also still enjoying Japanese culture in her new life. Plus, this anime didn't forget her relationship with Kazuhiho, the main core of the show. Cute.

Sorry I’m still obsessed with how pretty Marie is! Her first weekend on earth was certainly eventful, got to discover libraries, movies and.. earthquakes lol.

The language barrier scenes don’t really hit when Mariabelle and Kitase are already speaking Japanese to each other lol. I get they probably didn’t wanna spend time making up a new language or speaking in English, but it feels odd for Mariabelle to say she can’t speak Japanese when she’s doing it the whole time 😂

The movie scene was so cute, poor Kazuhiho gonna have a heart attack if Marie keeps jumping on him like that tho lmao. I’m looking forward to her meeting his grandparents.

Having your first earthquake when you’re in the shower is certainly not ideal.

Awww I love the ending scene of them cuddling up reading bedtime stories. They’re so freaking cute. This episode went by too quick!

This was adorable. I'm just glad she didn't get so over excited to the point that it's annoying, like they do in a lot of shows.

Not really into wish fullfilment shows but holly hell I feel like I could watch these two interacting all day. I could see why Marie would be panic and run out naked to Kazuhiho because of that earthquake lol. This type of cliche or fan service usually tend to get annoying but this is surprisingly cute geez.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure if she wants to go back, he has to be with her.

"An Elf playing with a cat"
Sly reference to Beheneko: The Elf-Girl's Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster!?

Looked at first like they were positioning the librarian Ichijo-san as a rival, but she was fascinated by Marie.

Fluffiest pancakes I have ever seen; true affection show there.

"Sake, shake, shake, shake!" Beautiful derriere, Marie. Approved.

Uhm, Kazuhiro, when your have a terrified girl clinging to you for safety, reassurance, and comfort, your FIRST priority is delivering the comfort and reassurance. COMPLETE this before adding unneeded stress over the state of her modesty, rather than tensing up.

That animated movie looked like a reference to My Neighbor Totoro... with the cutesy march in the opening credits and a similar-looking countryside house.

This looks like nothing more than an extremely simple, cute-elf-doing-cute-things kind of deal, injected straight into your veins. Nice, but really forgettable...

@Marinate1016 Well to be fair it's at least better than some other alternatives, Seirei Gensouki 2 as an example decided to have the characters just speak both at once. So you're literally just hearing their voices speaking 2 languages overlapping each other at the same time, it's insanely painful to watch. Actually the whole S2 of that show was a pain to watch but that's irrelevant here, point is as long as the viewer can understand it I guess it works.

The manga wasn't super clear on those scenes either though it was a little better, they just put a different look around the text box when Marie and Kazuhiro are speaking Elvish.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

@perseii and Kazuhiro's granpa's house also has a big tree just exactly like in Totoro, could Kazuhiro be Hayao Miyazaki's grandson? LOL

@LordCrueltyV I hate to say it, but it seems we have another virgin MC on our hands. Twice they had scenes that could go the opposite way in most other Anime'/TV shows yet didn't. I guess she is an innocent too. Probably pretty young in Elf years.

Marie is getting very used to the Japan lifestyle and even making friends.
No surprise Marie ran out of the bath during the earthquake, we could all see that coming from a mile away.
I hope they are able to rescue that child soon.

Nice to see more of the elf in Japan. Wonder how long it'll be until the dragon can leave her nest.

So much for being offended at being directed towards childrens' literature Marie actually liked it.

As for the movie... I guess this is what you get when you introduce someone from the medieval age to modern media.

I'm not sure what the rpg elements really add to the dream world. To be fair, it's only been 4 episodes, but other anime make slightly more interesting use of it.
Like in Konosuba, it represents a limitation on characters' ability to learn new skills. While Kazuma seems to pursue a practical, pragmatic skillset, Megumin puts all her points into explosion magic despite it being niche and overspecialized, because she likes it.

Marie pretty cute, Kazuhiro pretty boring... I guess this is what passes as normal for this genre.

I don't recall Hataraku Maou-sama having to use the language that often though, and they seemingly learned Japanese extremely quickly. If we had to accommodate Marie's pace of learning Japanese, almost all of this anime would be dubbed in her language.
I'm also reminded of Kekkon suru tte, Hontou desu ka last season, where after a few lines of English, they just dub all conversation with the vip tourist in Japanese instead of strongly-accented English.

Considering that both are made by the same studio, Zero-G, I’d even say that the elves' fixation on cats is something canonical.

Ngl the parts where they are in Japan are way better than when they are in the isekai.
Probably because it goes for a slightly more serious tone and falls flat since there aren't any actual risks involved
or anything that would usually make that kind of story good or tense.

That's probably why I enjoyed this ep so much.

I was afraid they would censor completely the elf booba scene but to my surprise they don't only didn't censor them but they also added plenty of physics to the booba. 10/10 And the rest of the episode really did the source material justice!!!!

This is the dream, boys. Spending your days with a beautiful elf girl who loves you, and only you.

But seriously, this show is infinitely better when it's in Japan as opposed to the fantasy world. Marie's discovery and wonder about our world is charming and fun. Episode 3 took the wind out of my sails with how boring it was. This episode was a lot better. Looks like we'll be going back to the fantasy world next time. Hopefully it's a short trip.

I have no right to rate this anime—I’m way too biased!! It’s exactly my type, and it has already become one of my favorites!

Two scenes made me laugh so much: the earthquake scene and when Mari said she wanted to watch the movie again *lol*. I really feel for Kazuhiro—I totally understand the frustration he went through. But during the earthquake scene, I think he was secretly wishing for an earthquake every day *HAHAHAHAHA*!

Also, Kaoruko, the librarian, is adorable. She seems like she wants to get closer to Mari… but I doubt it. I feel like she might be interested in Kazuhiro too.

This anime is amazing in every sense of the word!

Let me remind you, this skill allows you to take the train to the ALTAR. Remember the statue he put the flower on? That's the one. There are only so many of them. And they're not everywhere. That's what mc-kun says. It doesn't apply to war because the altar gets torn down and that's it.
Farmers don't care, they have to grow and preserve. The goddess of fertility sends her gratitude. If nothing grows, there's nothing to sell. The cattle are dying of disease, we're starving. And healing is more useful than this teleporting around checkpoints once a day for a fee.
It's really for merchants, messengers, adventurers. And it's not the most useful.

Marie's first full weekend with Kazuhiro certainly is a sight to behold, such as Marie imitating a cat's purr, and Kazuhiro bringing her to a library to see some books that she might be interested in, like picture books meant for children. But when he went to borrow the book, the coincidence meeting with librarian Kaoruko Ichijo proves a test for Marie's Japanese figure of speech, which Marie certainly gave it her all. Furthermore, being neighbours in the same apartment complex they're staying at, it's Marie making her very first friend in Japan.

Picture books coming in the form of CD animations, that too piques Marie's interest, on top of fluffy pancakes and an atmosphere to create a movie-like experience. And it defintely is entertainment for Marie acting beautifully childish in front of him. Of course, with Japan prone to earthquakes, and Marie just having her bath to come out naked due to the rattle, it was a close shave for purity. Curry is also Japan's staple food, but thinking back to the child that needs saving, it's also possible that he/she could use magic stones as well.

Bedtime stories are always good, and just let the elf have her time off for good, until they reach back to the same place.
Time to form a party and rid the bandits to save the child!

Kazuhiro is helping Mariabelle learn Japanese, and we got introduced to a new character, Kaoruko, who’ll be Mariabelle’s first friend in this world.

The way Mariabelle gets physical with Kazuhiro when she’s excited is both funny and adorable. And yeah, they jiggle alright—a nice treat for the eyes!

Now they’re back in the fantasy world, but our cute elf wanted to hear what happens next in the picture book before falling asleep.
