Yeah, it'll take a bit longer than expected to make Sett fully fall for Nina. You can see the cracks though, slowly. Meanwhile, MA GIRL NINA FUCKIN SHIT UPPPPP. Done fucked that prick's shit up. Was so giddy when I saw her throw the dude to the ground.

But yeah, scratch what I said before, because SETT IS FULLY IN LOVE FROM WHAT IT SEEMS?? A WHOLE KISS??? WHATTTT.

Poor Nina though. Girl almost had that original princes treatment with the carriage falling down the cliff and all lol.

Heck yeah! Nina kicked that creepy guard to the curb! I must praise Hikami for seeing Nina's adventurous nature and responding appropriately—by giving her self-defense lessons, of course.

Also with Sett being the way he is, his family must be a riot. This lost in a forest with a dangerous tiger thing might actually be safer...

Chapters 11 and 12 today

Yeah definitely bias towards sett. His facial expressions look a bit more inline this week. They definitely are determined to make him a pretty boy though. His expressions are less smug and cold, more bishounen posing for the camera in an attractive way. Like when he says he didn't ask about Nina's and talks about the god of the underworld you just want to punch him in his smug face in the manga. However, still way more online with how he looks in the manga then whatever bs was going on with azure.

The pacing is still really screwing with the story. We glossed over the castle culture that really sets up the first half of this episode and I didn't really feel the impact that Ann chan was saying about the other princesses like I did in the manga due to the dialogue. Dub script or maybe original, the proper weight of everything still isn't being conveyed properly and we're now halfway done the season.

Sigh, but they at least can capture ninas many goofy expressions well. Which makes it all the more enraging that they completely ignored all of Azures during his interactions with her.

Don't really like the dub interpretation of her removing the feathers from her ornament. Manga wise it's about channeling her street smart outlook that even if something is valuable it's worthless if you don't use it

The impact of her confrontation of the guard captatin is significantly lessened when we barely got any build up. Same with the turnaround with how the servants refused to acknowledge her. This is such a great moment in the manga and while the moment itself anime wise isn't bad it suffers from having so much of the buildup in the previous episode (chapters 9 amd 10) removed.

Also fuck lazy animation. I wanted to see Nina tuck her hair behind her ear all sassy, revealing her face to the guard captatin. The animation of this anime really is a travesty. The series has very little action to animate. The fact so many shortcuts are repeatedly taken to reduce the movement of characters is absoutely ridiculous. The manga looks more dynamic and is entirely still panels. If they can't animate something as small as that what are they even capable of aniamting more significant movements? Just kidding we already know how bad that looks in the anime from episode 2 with Azure's fighr and the muhulumchase. They could at least try with these smaller character building moments. Which they also blunder after she nicks the guard captatin down

My assessment of this anime is that they'll skip anything they can, minimalism every moment, expression, movements pose that they can get away with losing. I expected very little from her actual match with the guardcaptain and that was the right choice lol. Literally the most effort they're gonna put in this episode.

The sett confrontation also falls flat. Show him in all his menacing glory lol. Manga wise he starts by looking like he could slash her again while the anime just portrays him as amused. Which he is, but the initial impression he gives is supposed to have a more menacing impact as he's toying with her and transitions to rasing his blade to her. The anime didn't deally portray any real threat level from him,

And yep skip over a lot of the humor of nina tending to neena. Can't bother animating that since it involves a lot of movement. Sucks cause it was really endearing. Neena is quite the hellion. She moves about rapidly. There's also a joke after sett talks about how lovely her voice is, where Nina thinks about how her voice roars amd echoes throughout the castle halls. Or Ninas view of him as a lazy slob. Instead we get a needless reminder about why nina is here and what he uses princesses for, sigh. I guess even Sett and Nina's relationship isn't immune from being remiss

Lol completely cut out sett being approached by an advisor and that being why he dissed nina. So very pointlessly lazy. Lol also couldn't bother to show sett's head leaning on his hand when he announced the trip to Galgada.

Not mentioning the fact Ann chan is now Alisha's personal lady in waiting. Yeah the dub script really is bad. They joke is Hikami tells Nina it's the moment of truth and Nina thinks that means she can't lie to Sett's family. Which literally setts up a joke with sett within the episode.

Sassy pretty boy Sett is so bland. Still more dynamic then anime Azure at least. But I want his epic faces that make him so hateable lol.. at least anime Neena captures her adorableness despite cutting so many of her fun moments.
Cutting some more of Nina's hunorous thoughts. Manga sett really does look like he wants to vomit at her devotion when he says it lol. Anime sett is too busy being pretty for the camera.

That kiss looked way to gentle. Manga kiss is way more sinister. And based on how it's drawn, gives the impression he both lunged at her and yanked her forward, keeping her head in place. What a miserable fail. Why is the anime so determined to soften his character? I'm also pretty sure he bit her lip in the manga. Also, really failed to show his surprise at her reaction to his kiss before he switched back to smug. Epic fail in not showing his shock at her calling him out too.

I feel like a lot of the irony and duality of her dynamics with sett and azure are lost in the anime. Nina thought Azure was a beast at first and he revealed himself to be gentle and kind, she thought sett would be interested in marrying her at first and he reveals him self to be a beast in their interactions aa if now

Not even bothering to show nina anxiously monitoring sett in town during their trip and him remaining stubborn that he will ride outside the carriage when asked by an escort.

Lol the carriage fall looked so bad

Yeah you know this anime is bad when they cut a significant moment that is suppsed to run parallel with Nina meeting the tiger and noticing his golden eyes. That's right folks. A significant moment with azure is supposed to be revealed at the same time as nina has a new encounter with a golden eyed beast. I'm hesitant to say what it is considering it has to be played at some point. If it's not in next week's episodes begining I'll say what it is then. If your ean azure fan and can't wait, I'll be uploading those pages tumblr later (and several others from last week's ep and this ep)

Guard captain part was quite corny NGL.

Sett being a creep, wanting to taint what's genuinely bright. That's a textbook psycho who tortures kittens for fun. At this point we should be grateful this isn't GOT, otherwise Sett'd be like Joffrey or F-ing Ramsay! Only reason why that's not the case, because this is Josei.

What's with mudslides and princess carriages being victims. They even changed a route for it.

It seems Nina gets eaten by random tiger at the end -_-, guess this is the final episode then.

Idk man, they’re gonna have to show me something with sett. He’s been an asshole so far despite the Twitter hype. Left my Nina scarred and then stole a kiss too? 😡 I can’t quite get a read on him, very interesting character.

On the bright side, Nina was bad ass today. I love how she saved the handmaiden who was about to be assaulted by the guard captain and then lured him into a trap. Some great 4D chess from her today

Sett’s bird beating up Nina was hilarious lol they’re gonna make a fun duo

That cliffhanger(literally) omg please be ok Nina :/

There, on that, Nina.

@Marinate1016 never buy into what Twitter thinks lol. But he does have quite a few vocal and annoying fans. Anyway there is more to his character like there was with azure. These 2 episodes with him cover 4 chapters and the anime isnt portraying his full personality, which was a similar problem azure. So even if you dont like him in the anime, you may find him more engaging in the manga

So we have Bruce Lee pretending to be Nina pretending to be Alicia.
Nina is such a Chad, this still isn't really making sense, but she's still a Chad. Sett leaving his true love to her, when he doesn't even care about Nina, is strange.
I keep reading "team Az" or "team Sett" while I'm over here team "Neena x Nina"
Wow I'm caught back up I need more of those beautiful golden eyes in my life.

honestly, thank the gods, I was afraid about this episode from the preview and thought that was going to be a sinister kiss but was gentle. I really hate the whole rapey thing.

Man, our girl Nina cannot catch a break😭. Dealing with a scummy guard, then being forcefully kissed by Set (the way I wished she could've punched him square in the jaw), and then ending it with falling down a ravine and about to be attacked by a tiger? Praying our girl gets a break sometime soon. And Set does not improve on acquaintance at all, he only gets worse every minute.
Born to shoujo, forced to shounen.

I implore you to read requiem of the rose king if you want a shoujo that is game of thrones like. This isn’t a GOT type story because it’s a josei, it’s because that’s not how the mangaka wanted it to be!

@LilyVarbik lol so you're fine with a slash to the chest but I bite to the face is too much? I wouldnt really call it rapey, I honeslty don't even really consider it a kiss, just part of the weird power struggle him and nina have going on, where he wants to break her spirits and she wants to prove she's number one waifu material and seize the throne with him lol
