Looks depressing ngl. I feel as if someone was fed up with the unrealistic depictions of Japanese schools and made it look rusty and gritty as it would be irl. Makes me wonder if there was actual intent on making it so because it's not the kind of backgrounds i would expect from something as comedic as this. You can get the same vibe if it were a flat color but the rusting and dirt of the school were so "in your face" it's difficult not noticing it. It's not bad but like this feels more fitting from an anime like Chainsaw Man or Mysterious Disappearances. if makima shows up i wouldn't be surprised, hell even the nurse looks like someone from JJK.
Maybe it signifies the repressed melancholic sadness the heroines are feeling when having to force themselves to keep going to school and meeting the people that rejected them daily.
but iono, maybe the curtain is blue just cause they're blue. wdyt?
Didn’t really notice what you mentioned, just thought the show looked good in general, but I’ll try to pay more attention to the backgrounds next episode.
I feel like this anime was somehow inspired by “Your Name” or “Weathering with You” in terms of animation. It is also a bit sad, considering the fact that couples are destined to break up after some time and childhood friends do not always advance their relationship.
i think the anime is just tryna relay a realistic story. schools are dirty, childhood friendships dont necessarily gotta thrive till the end and not everything has to be rosy. also these sceneries really blend into that world nicely.. idk why that bothered you, i did notice them and i thought they were very cool
I quite like the slightly dated school interior and exterior, especially the wooden classroom windows that open to the corridor that Chika used to speak to Kazuhiko. I don't think the school's look has any deeper meaning, I've started reading the LN (because I'm impatient) and so far it hasn't really mentioned the school being old or dilapidated. I'd guess it's probably just a design choice based on the director or LN author's memories of their own school or something.
I don't know what you on about. The Animation and Art style looks stunning. It's not just another Trashy Harem cash grab so the studio is going to put their best efforts into it. Perfect vibe if you ask me for a show like this.
Where I have noticed it the most is with the ending, it is a curious artistic decision, it is probably some underhanded complaint, it is not common to see schools of this type.
